Beyond Senses

Information about the Development

Introduction

  • What will happen to Beyond Senses?
  • Is it still being developed?
  • Is it still worth buying Beyond Senses?

These are just some questions you might be thinking at the moment. I want to clarify any points regarding the current state and development of Beyond Senses.

As you might already know, I have announced the last update of Beyond Senses a few weeks ago. This might let you think it's not worth it buying Beyond Senses anymore. I want to say "thanks" to all of you guys who believed in the project and participated in the development! You are awesome!

Who am I?

Yes, there's just one developer - me. My name is Sky Haubrich, I'm 20 years old and founded Pyxton Studios at the age of 15. My biggest passion is creating things. That's probably why I started developing games. I honestly can't tell you what drove me when I decided to start a company. However, I neglected my school career - haven't learned for an exam since then.

How was Beyond Senses brought to life?

I was developing my first game, Deluded Mind, for years. I invested every single second of my existence in this video game (90+ hours a week!). It's not perfect and I could do much better now but I'm proud of being the developer! Deluded Mind also helped me finding my soulmate... really! After Deluded Mind was released, I started developing Beyond Senses.

Even though my first game wasn't a success I still believed in the company and worked on Beyond Senses day and night. I finished school at that point of time, so there was even more time available for me. Unfortunately, my biggest mistake was to believe that a good game would sell itself automatically. There's much more behind selling a video game. I might be a good developer but I'm not a good marketer. I just don't have the necessary connections in the gaming industry and am not able to get in contact with big influencers.

Now, Beyond Senses got into a vicious circle: No active players = no new players = no sales = no money for further development.

I am sorry for letting you guys down but I'm currently in an age and state where I want to get financially independent and start a career. I realized that it's not about developing video games. It's about developing things in general.

That is why I decided to study Electrical Engineering and - preferably - want to work as a Development Engineer. I'm glad I found a great company who accepted me even though my grades weren't that good since I didn't invest much time in my school career (because of my company). I'm doing an integrated degree program, just for those who wonder why I work for a company.

What happens to Beyond Senses?

Beyond Senses will not be further developed by me. However, I'm currently reaching out to development teams, asking them if they would like to continue the development of Beyond Senses. I believe there will be a team who accepts my offer, so there might be future updates. I can't promise it will happen or when it will happen but I assure you I'll do my best!

Is it still worth buying Beyond Senses?

I think it's still worth buying Beyond Senses. Since I'm giving away the rights for Beyond Senses to someone else, I don't want to reduce the price for now. I recommend buying the game with some friends when there is a sale! You can still enjoy an awesome gaming experience. And if there are future updates from the new development team, you will still get new content.

If there are many active players, it might encourage other development teams to continue working on Beyond Senses!

My last words

Thank you for reading through my words. I'd like to say thanks to everyone who believed in Beyond Senses. I'll do my best to provide you future updates by looking for another developer. :-)

Stay healthy!

Best Regards,
Sky Haubrich

Update 0.3.2 - Time to say goodbye

Hey guys!

In this last update, I've only fixed some bugs:

  • Y Axis Inversion Option
  • Steam VR Check on Game Start

I'd like to take this opportunity to say goodbye to all of you. It was a great time, developing video games for the last 5 years. It all started with a 15-year-old guy who somehow wanted to create something because he always had the urge to create.

I'm now 20 years old and have to end my game development career at this point. My biggest mistake was to think that a good game would market itself automatically and I was horribly wrong. Even though I invested a lot of time in marketing, it still wasn't enough. I may be a good developer but not a good marketer. I just wasn't able to reach out to the world and spread my projects but that's fine. I'd like to thank everyone who participated in the development of Beyond Senses and believed in the project.

One might think that all the work I invested in my company over the last 5 years might be for nothing but you're wrong. If I had never set out to do the work and develop video games, I would have never met my current love, my soulmate (yeah, it's quite complicated to explain), and - maybe - would have never gained the self-confidence and proud in my abilities and my person.

Because of my love to physics and engineering, I'll change my branch and start a career as an engineer. I realized that it wasn't about developing video games but the development itself that motivated me. Maybe I'll publish some free hobby projects in the future but I can't promise it.

Have fun playing Beyond Senses! :)
If I find someone or a team that would like to continue the development of Beyond Senses, there will be future updates coming.

Stay healthy!

Best Regards,
Sky Haubrich
