Happy Birthday, Hatless One!

BirdGut's (Probably) Final Update + What's Next (Fest)

Hello BirdGut players!

I wanted to fix up a few of the remaining bugs that I have been made aware of before I officially move on from BirdGut. Lots of the inner workings of the game are tangled messes of janky code, since it was made by a younger and much less experienced version of me, but I did what I could. Here's some of what I fixed:

1. That softblock in the very beginning next to the thimble mushroom
2. That atrocious glitch where the gun disappears if you save/load
3. a few smaller things...

Also, I updated the old graphical assets on steam, so BirdGut should look a lot nicer in your library now...

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!!

I also just wanted to give you another update on that next new thing I've been working on...

Specifically, I want to let you all know to keep an eye out in this week's NextFest event (Oct 3 - Oct 10), because there is a demo of the project available for you to play for free!

So look for my new game called "The Multi-Medium!"

Revealing the New Game

Hello again!

I'm finally ready to announce my second game, The Multi-Medium!

It's another puzzle-platformer, with similar linear gameplay to BirdGut, but with a brand new story and many new worlds to explore. And this time with color!
It's about an interdimensional traveler who is sent to explore the multiverse, but gets lost and ends up on a personal journey to discover their true purpose in the cosmos...

The best part about it for me is the visuals: each level is painted or drawn by hand entirely in a different medium.

Here's a link to the new store page on steam: The Multi-Medium
Share it around and tell your friends! If you're really interested, you can add it to your wishlist, too.

The game has already been over two whole years in the making, and I'm hoping to be able to publish it by the end of this year. Sorry if it isn't the BirdGut sequel you were hoping for, but I hope you like it!

Thank you for your patience,
Micah Boursier

Stay Tuned, Folks!

Hello again, BirdGut players...

To celebrate the third anniversary of BirdGut's release, I figured I'd make a little announcement here...

I've been working on something new for a couple of years now, and it's gradually coming together. It may be a while before I announce what it's about and give some more details, but until then, stay tuned... I'll announce it here when it's ready.

Thanks for your patience,
Micah

Another Update!

Hello again,
After reading more feedback and watching more playthroughs, it has come to my attention that my game is quite a bit harder than I intended. In this update, I hope to ease some unnecessary frustration, as well as fix a few bugs.

Changes include:

  • The "Must Be This Talented" ride is a little easier now
  • The venus fly traps are a little slower
  • There is no more lag in the bolt/screw laser drop part (also fewer lasers)
  • Removed the glitch where you get stuck floating in the air after the colon
  • Added a pipe to the large intestines so you can't get stuck after reloading
  • Fixed a few other saving and layering issues

Thanks again for all the helpful feedback and support, you're all awesome!

P.S. for speedrunners, the railcart still takes the same amount of time, the only new time-saver is the pipe in the large intestines.

Bug Fix Update!

Hello all,
I've been watching over the community and playthroughs online, and gathering a list of bugs. Here's a patch that should fix many of them!

Included:

  • New Music from Taylor Baum and Miguel Arada to fill the quiet
  • A shorter respawn time
  • Solved the crane crates, trash cart, leaf, missile cap and elevator soft locks.
  • Removed the checkpoint that lets you skip the camera guns in Stomach City
  • You can't go out of bounds on top of the hive anymore, sorry
  • Fixed several sprite layering issues
  • And more

Thank you all for the kind words and helpful feedback. I am blessed to have such a friendly group of people playing my game.

Released!

Here it is!
This game has taken a little over two years of my life to make, and I'm excited to say it's finally released! I encourage anybody to give it a try, and leave a nice review if you like. I can't wait to see this little community develop.
