Blackfaun patch 0.8.6 is now live! Check out the full patch notes below:
GENERAL
Pan has been added to the game as a playable character! He begins his adventure with an alternate set of abilities:
Beam attack - Pan’s starting weapon releases a beam of energy at his foes. The beam does low damage, but has a fast cooldown.
Burst-blink - Pan’s offhand Manaburst comes with a blink, teleporting him in a short distance in the direction of the mouse cursor(mouse) or facing direction(gamepad).
Candles of madness - when Pan uses a candle, instead of becoming ethereal, he gains a boost to his attack speed and damage for the duration. Pan’s candles still detect secret doors in the same way that the faun’s do.
Unlockable Content - Note that Pan will be an unlockable character at final release. However, he will be available to all players for most of the remaining Early Access period regardless of whether or not said unlock conditions have been met.

ITEMS
Piercing Gaze
Special ability: Your familiar’s attacks have a chance to fear enemies.
Description: “Warriors, berserkers, and rangers from across the Second Kingdom would enlist to hunt any who managed to capture the relic from The Watchers. The emotionless Trackers would wear these cowls for their intimidating presence. Today, the hoods still retain their powerful properties.” — History of the Second Kingdom, page 1108
Dampening Cowl
Special ability: Your familiar gains an aura that slows nearby enemies.
Description: “Before the great golem was created to guard The Relic, magisters, arbiters, and adjudicators from across the Second Kingdom would volunteer to safeguard its power. The enlisted Watchers would wear these cowls for their powerful warding properties. Today, the cowls still retain their dampening capabilities.” — History of the Second Kingdom, page 1108

Special ability: Your mana burst pushes enemies much further.
Description: A blessing from the wind goddess bestowed upon her most devout followers. Shelter for all who walk in the Gale Maiden’s wake.
Untethered Beacon

Blackfaun patch 0.8.3 is now live!
Blackfaun patch 0.8.3 is now live! Check out the full patch notes below:
GENERAL
In preparation for the Court of Thorns tileset, the number of stages per act has been reduced from 3 to 2. The purposed for this change is to condense the play experience into a tighter package. This will help differentiate playthroughs and items (and to a lesser extent enemies and bosses) will be seen less frequently.
Enemies and bosses appearing in the second stage of each act now have increased HP to help balance the difficulty curve.
The leveling system has been revamped: The skill points you get when leveling up will now increase base damage, luck, and max HP instead of adding to your base stats. Leveling up no longer automatically grants base damage and HP. To compensate for the lack of stats on level up, items have had their stat values increased. Additionally, ancient wisps still grant a passive boost to their corresponding stat color, their stat boost values have been tweaked to accommodate the new level up stats.
The reasoning for these changes was to give players a different method of guiding their gameplay while giving players more meaningful and impactful choices. We felt that the previous stat system was ultimately fighting for the same spotlight as items. What do you think of these changes? Let us know in the discussions!
Wisps now explode when impacted by player projectiles, dealing damage to everything around them -- even the player! (except on easy difficulty). They can also be mana bursted into enemies, giving the player more strategic choices in battle.
BOSSES
Relic Guardian
Now always spawns on 3-3 and triggers a new scripted sequence.
The Relic altar has been added to the Relic Guardian’s chamber. ːsteammockingː

Decreased familiar spawn chance.

Withered Effigy
Decreased curse (stat drain) debuff amount.
OTHER
Sound effects have received significant upgrades across the board. Overall sound effect experience should be enhanced!
Stoneblade Grunts have traded spots with Dreamsnatchers in the encounter order in Lyrewood Vale. Players will now encounter Stoneblade Grunts on 1-1 and Dreamsnatchers on 1-2.
An indicator has been added to the main menu screen when one or more new talismans have been unlocked.

Cleaned up the way that talismans were spawning.
Fixed key consumable collection radius.

Patch 0.7.33
Blackfaun patch 0.7.33 is now live! Check out the full patch notes below:
GENERAL
Overall difficulty increase: We’ve heard from many that the game could be more challenging. We’ve made changes across the board to offer players a greater challenge. Judicious use of your mana burst and candles will now be essential on the hardest difficulties.
Doors now lock when the player enters a room until all enemies have been cleared.
Enemy AI has been greatly improved. Enemies are now smarter and deadlier.
Enemy spawn rate has been increased.
Boss rooms are now 3x3, down from 4x4.
Increased tower spawn rates in all environments.
Faster game flow: Getting from room to room, especially when backtracking was taking too long. We’ve made a number of changes to make the action more intense, including reducing room size and corridor length.
Ancient wisps: We’ve replaced treasure chests that grant random HP and stat bonuses (“empty chests”) with ancient wisps. There are 3 types of ancient wisps, VIT, INT, and AGI, one for each stat type indicated by matched colors. When the player collects an Ancient Wisp it will grant a stat bonus of the corresponding type and an HP boost. In addition, there is a chance that a treasure chest will drop upon collection.
Bug fixes:
Fixed an issue causing a console error when continuing a game after death.
Fixed an issue that was preventing the Boulderscale, the Hungering Wurm sprite from showing up properly on the recap screen.
Fixed an issue causing a console error when Pan is hit with a projectile.
Fixed an issue causing the vendor to sometimes sell chests that contain consumables which would cost additional gold to pick up.
Bosses now always spawn chests that contain equipment.
Various tooltips and stat calculations were fixed to display the proper values.
ENEMIES
Wolfwarden
Traps: Wolfwarden AI has been modified so that traps are only placed while far from the player. Trap size increased to help visibility. Trap poison damage no longer ignores shield hearts.

Warbrute
Frenzy: Warbrutes can no longer be interrupted while casting frenzy. Increased the bonuses of the frenzy buff.
Dreamsnatcher
Darkness Pool: Now prevents the player from attacking and casting mana burst while under the effects of darkness.
Increased projectile speed. Projectiles now have a chance to lead the player.
