Coldwild Games page is live!

Hey everyone! Steam is rolling out the new developer feature :) Basically this is also going to be the page that lists our games.

I'm not removing the other game reviews, but I'm waiting for Steam to customize the lists better (otherwise it gets a bit confusing).

Further plans

Hi everyone,

Vladimir here. Wanted to give an update on what's going on:

1) I'm working on a Linux port. Can't give any specific dates, but I'm really trying to make it a possibility now.

Requirements Reduced

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to say that the latest small patch does not bring any content changes, but is intended for owners of older cards. The game should run even if your card supports OpenGL version 3.0 (shader language version 1.3).

Let me know if you encounter any problems because of the patch and I'll make sure to fix everything ASAP.

Recent savefile quickfix

Before today, loading savefiles would reset the adventure status so it would be possible to get duplicates in some cases or the game would simply freeze if you ran out of available adventures. The last patch should have fixed that. (Don't worry, your savegames are fine) Do let me know if you encounter any other issues, i'm here to resolve all the problems you might encounter with the game. Cheers!

Fullscreen support improved

Hello!

As many have requested, I've improved the widescreen support: the image is still a bit pixelated, but the aspect ratio is kept. No more ugly stretching!

Switching between fullscreen and windowed mode is now much faster.

Although this change seems minor, it involved lots of changes in the code. Let me know if something stopped working and i'll fix it ASAP. Thanks for playing and I really appreciate your support so far!

Effect Update Patch

I'm glad to announce that more than 20 spells in game has received new effect animations, made by an amazing artist Nauris Krauze.

Blades of the Righteous v 1.4 is out!

Hi everyone!

It's time for the new Blades of the Righteous update. The huge focus of this patch was making the battle more appealing and less repetitive. In order to do this, 4 new abilities (2 for support and 2 for action phase) for every non-boss unit have been added. 2 of those are available right after purchasing the unit. Other 2 are unlocked as the unit progresses. This also involved increasing max energy of all units.

Gameplay

  • To make gameplay a bit more interactive: increasing active adventure amount to two
  • Every units turn is split into three phases: move, support, action. The units can use additional abilities during support phase. Action phase is used for attacks / main abilities now.
  • Increased portal spawn frequency by 2 turns for easy, 3 turns for medium, 4 turns for hard difficulty
  • More than 30 new unique battle abilities! In total, units have 88 (repeating) abilities added to them. Each unit has at least 6 abilities when fully levelled now.
  • The current phase is displayed in the right corner of the active unit.
  • Improved tutorial to explain attacking better.
  • You can now use 1-6 keys to activate abilities (instead of clicking on them)
  • Shieldbash cooldown increased by 1 (now 4 instead of 3)
  • Stunning Arrow cooldown increased by 1 (now 4 instead of 3)
  • All stun durations reduced to 1 turn (instead of two) - stun proved to be too strong over the course of the game


Abilities:

  • the abilities synergize with each other, unlocking unit combos that can benefit each other
  • 'Courage': +1 hp for 4 turns
  • 'Stable Position': min dmg = max dmg for two turns
  • 'Mark': mark target for more damage
  • 'Orkish Endurance': restore 2hp, +1hp for 2 more turns
  • 'Rabid Bite': deal 1 damage, apply poison, remove all healing effects
  • 'Scare': apply -1 damage for 2 turns
  • 'Calcium': +1 to all resistances for 2 turns
  • 'Clean Slate': 'Remove ALL effects'
  • 'Poison': 'Poison the Target'
  • 'Honor among Thieves': restore 3 energy, heal 3 hp if there's another rogue or brigand in team
  • 'First Aid' - heal ally for 2 hp, remove bleeding
  • 'Potion' - heal ally for 2 hp, remove remove poison
  • 'Magic Breaker': -2 magic resist, 2 damage(S)
  • 'Piercing Breaker': -2 piercing resist, 2 damage(S)
  • 'Slashing Breaker': -2 slashing resist, 2 damage(S)
  • 'Blunt Breaker': -2 blunt resist, 2 damage(S)
  • 'Cripple':, 2 damage, enemy can't block/dodge next attack
  • 'Recharge': add recharge counter, if unit has 3 counters - restore 15 energy
  • 'Dominate the Weak': 'Deal min. atk damage + 4 damage if target is weakened'
  • 'Feed': deal 2 dmg, restore 2 hp
  • 'Headbutt': deal max damage(Blunt)
  • 'Immobilize': deal 3 magic damage, target can't move next turn (still can cast spells)
  • 'Peacemaker': deal 2 damage(magic), make unit lose 2 hp when he attacks (until next turn)
  • 'Insult to Injury': Deal min. atk damage + 4 damage if target is bleeding
  • 'Vulnerability': -1 to all resistances
  • 'Internal Bleeding': bleed for 1 damage for 4 turns
  • 'Double Assault': attacks twice, each attack deals 60% base damage + all other bonuses
  • 'Holy Fire': deal 2 damage, apply burning (2 dmg x 2 turns)
  • 'Defensive Offence': deal 3 damage, gain +1 resistances for 2 turns
  • 'Explode': deal 3 magic damage, deal 5 more if target is burning
  • 'Amplify Poison' - deal 5 magic damage, increase poison duration and damage by 1 each
  • 'Painful Retribution' - deal 4 damage + 1 damage for every 8 own hp missing
  • 'Bloodbath' - deal 4 damage (Magic) + 2 more damage if target is bleeding
  • 'Damage Weapon' - reduce enemy damage by 2 for the next turn


New abilities distributed by unit:

  • 4 new swordsman abilities: 'Magic Breaker', 'Courage', 'Cripple', 'Stable Stance'
  • 4 new orc abilities: 'Pierce Breaker', 'Mark', 'Dominate the weak', 'Orkish endurance'
  • 4 new wolf abilities: 'Headbutt', 'Feed', 'Rabid bite', 'Dominate the Weak'

  • 4 new bat abilities: 'Slashing Breaker', 'Insult to injury', 'Rabid Bite', 'Scare'
  • 4 new mage abilities: 'Clean Slate', 'Immobilize', 'Peacemaker', 'Poison'
  • 4 new rogue abilities: 'Blunt Breaker', 'Honor among thieves', 'Damage Weapon', 'Insult to injury'

  • 4 new witch abilities: 'Slashing Breaker', 'Immobilize', 'Vulnerability', 'Internal bleeding'

  • Witches withering skill remade: always reduces 30% of target health.


Bugfixes
<*> Fixed skeleton archer damage type to piercing, no longer causes game crash when trying to check out its stats
