Hello everyone! We appreciate all of your positive support for Blazend! It's hard to believe the game launched over a year ago.
With the new update to 1.0.3, more features and accessibility options have been added. The main focus of my work has been to create a new "very easy" difficulty mode for novice players.
The full list of changes are as follows:
VERY EASY mode added and difficulties re-balanced (Normal mode is UNTOUCHED)
When a boss hits 0 HP, all bullets are turned into score items
End text after the clearing the game adjusted depending on difficulty
Cheat list has been added to cheats menu that shows you the list of cheats for convenient access (Must beat the game at least once)
Cheats can now be toggled using the gamepad by button combinations
Brief descriptions added to video/game options
New font added for better readability
And MANY other small fixes...
Here are some images to show off the new font and cheats menu!
FINALLY, I wanted to mention that I had the opportunity to try Blazend on the Steam Deck and I am happy to say that it works without any issues (so far)! While we do not yet have a "Deck Verified" status from Steam, the game gracefully supports the Steam Deck's resolution, and all of the Deck's built-in gamepad inputs as far as I have tested.
That's all for now everyone! Thank you for tuning again for this update, and until next time folks!
Blazend Version 1.0.1 UPDATE
Hello everyone, I would like to start off by saying I truly appreciate everyone that has given Blazend a chance and even moreso to those that left positive reviews.
If you guys enjoyed the game and want to show support, please consider leaving a positive review as this helps the game show up more in the discovery queue on Steam!
That being said, it's been a while since the last update (almost a year ;-;), but I bring good news!
Blazend has been updated to version 1.0.1 and this update comes with various fixes and new additions.
Online Leaderboards
Due to limitations, there is only one global leaderboard and it is shared across all difficulty levels
Screen Rotation (TATE)
TATE mode relies on additional filters to smooth the image as without filters it renders artifacts on the screen. I am looking into alternate options, but I wanted to include rotation features in this update for everyone asking for it.
Other additions include consistent score items drop from bigger enemy ships, making the "Coin Collector" achievement more fair to get.
Other Fixes:
Difficulty balancing
Simplified menu layout
Small bug fixes/audio issues
This update was a long time coming and it took me a while to implement certain things within the short time I had with my busy schedule.
Thank you again for the support!
Small content update and fixes
Further quality-of-life improvements thanks to suggestions and feedback from various players! This update also comes with various small bug fixes.
Difficulty Levels now save
Added additional ending screens that give cheat codes depending on what difficulty is cleared
Adjusted enemy health pools for large enemies and bosses
Added function in options that allows players to adjust starting lives, allowing up to 5 lives
Added QOL improvement that shows player continues at all times on the HUD
Added more detail to the tutorial, tutorial can also be toggled from main menu
Prevented player from shooting or bombing during a dialogue scene
All dialogue font has been changed to support unique resolution displays, preventing the text from being cut off at certain points
TATE mode is still being worked on as I have experienced issues with pixel distortion while resizing the game to fit vertically,
Thank you all!
