Danruo Lin, in the game her nickname, is "Student Xiaolin". This character is one of our most discussed internally, from appearance to character to her ending, and...... her way of realization.
records "Pomegranate, also named Danruo. ...... Pomegranate sweet is called the heavenly pulp, can cure the poison of Stalactite." This word has a very thorough feeling of beauty. Pomegranate is a kind of magical fruit, and delicious, and beautiful, but also particularly expensive. In Greek mythology, after Hades, the king of the underworld took the maiden Persephone to the underworld, Persephone ate the pomegranate and was no longer a fully earthly creature from then on. She possessed the attributes of Hades and henceforth needed to live on the ground and in Hades separately.
This is also a mythical explanation of the change of seasons in Greek mythology. From this perspective, the pomegranate is as if it were a delicious fruit with a strange dark atmosphere. We originally wanted to write a major character who was pushed by impermanent fate to become a deviation from her expectations, but she thought that the final form was her quest. However, when we designed the game, we did not give Student Xiaolin a lot of freedom of movement, she was more like an NPC. After many discussions(arguments), we defined Student Xiaolin as a girl who: She aspires to a good life, but cannot define good.
She desires an adventurous career but is timid and pliable. She wants to cling to someone lively and strong and wishes she could decide her fate. She is such a sweet, soft, ordinary girl (the artist disagrees with this), crushed by the vagaries of fate. What first drove her on that fateful journey was a very small idea that cannot even be described as a "dream": I want to see the world, I want adventure. We are a puzzle-based game and do not include a monster fighting part, so this "monster" is more of a personality alienation.
