Bloody Pigs 1996

We changed the whole game ! Update #2

It's been a while since I came with an update, but that's not because I haven't been working on the game. It's because this is quite a big update. Which you can play right now, if you try out the demo.

The reason why this is a bigger update is because the game before was quite bare bones, it featured one level and two guns. I wanted to expand the game and figure out the gameplay loop. My initial idea was to create 3 different levels and then maybe a boos in the end, however I'm a big fan of procedural generation so why not have endless levels and then a leaderboard? That's why I implemented, that and more is descripted in this video devlog:

I also did a intro to the game, which is described in this devlog:

Needless to say a lot of stuff happened, I hope you will try it out and spill some blood. Let me know what you think.

Wondering how pigs came to be? #devlog 1

How it all started:

I run a YouTube channel ːsteamboredː I thought it could be fun to create an game, but with the perspective of having no skills. So that's what I did. 40-something hours late I had something that looked like a game. You can see the whole process in this video:

You can compare this to an prototype, it was really helpful for me to start this way. I do have a good grasp on 3D graphics in my humble opinion ːsteamhappyː After I had created the fun little experiment I decided why not make it into a super cool real game. So that's what I'm trying to do now. Let's hope I don't fail.

So what's the game gonna be?

Well I wanna go crazy, not full crazy, because you never go full crazy. BUT I do wanna mash a ton of ideas into this game, and then try to stich it up to something releasable. At it's core it's just an top downer shooter with roguelike elements, but I wanna add aspects that makes it fun to die. Kinda like a perk or a buff when you die. I'm not sure if they will be permanent. This also brings me to the story.

What story?

Well ehh... At some point I will add a story. The ambition is to have a lot of different small stories in the game, meaning that when you die, you won't actually experience the ending of that story, because next time you retry it's a totally new story. How sick would that be?

What about gameplay?

Oh I forgot to mention you can play the demo right now. Give it a go, I will be updating it along the way. How the gameplay turns out in the end? Hell I dunno. Let the chips fall where they may. What I do know is that I don't wanna spend 5 years on a game again. So don't expect the next No man's sky. This experience is gonna be short and sweet, and worth the price of something that's free or maybe a few bucks.

Stay tuned for another devlog, and don't be shy, get involved, let me know what you hate and love... and also what you think about the game.

Much Love ːsteamthumbsupː,
/Dennis
