Boat Warfare

Update on Chapter 3

Hey everyone, it's been a while since the last update on things. I'm sure you have some questions so let's get right into things!

First off, the game is not dead! I am continuing to work on Chapter 3 and while I don't have a release date as of right now, I would expect it to arrive before the end of the year. Development has been slow due to life and what not, but things are shaping up to be even better than Chapter 2!

Next on the list you may (or may not) have seen that some of the art for the game was changed on the Steam page. I went through to make sure the games artwork was all similar rather than the less representative art that was there previously.

While I have you here Ill share some screenshots of the new and improved/upgraded player boat you'll be piloting in Chapter 3!

While it shares the same body and gun from Chapter 2 you might see the new addition in the back, that is a missile launcher which will be a new additional way to dish out big damage while you focus on the threats right around you.

Additionally, here is a look at the new UI, you'll see that on the left there is a missile indicator which will show you the status of your next missile. And while not visible in this screenshot there is a target lock on indicator that will follow the target for the duration of your lock on as well.

To close things out for now I hope you will stick around and play Chapter 3 when it releases, I hope to have a definitive release date soon so keep an eye out for that both here and on my twitter page which I post about updates/progress on the game more regularly!

See ya soon,
Ty

Customization Update

Hey everyone its been a few months and I've been busy!

I'm excited to announce that the customization update has a release date! Keep an eye out for September 30th for the update to drop!

If you've been watching my twitter or caught glimpses elsewhere you may know some of the things coming with the customization update! However for those who don't know lets get right into it!

With the customization update you will now be able to change how your boat looks everywhere in the game whether it be in Arena for some quick battles or through the main story. Your first stop will be the newly added customization menu which you'll find on the freshly updated main menu.

This will take us to where the magic happens, on here you will find that you can customize your boats body, gun and the console.

But you may be wondering how do I go about getting some customization parts? Well I'm glad you asked! every level will now have at least 1 collectable in it and will correspond with 1 part of a set or something individual that may not match with anything!

As I have mentioned before this isn't the final version of customizations, every new level and maybe even some challenges (think speed run times) down the line will be sources of new cosmetics!

Alright that's the gist of it! Hopefully you enjoy finding and collecting all the cosmetics throughout the game (always fun to hunt for secrets!) and one last time the release is set for September 30th so keep your eyes peeled you wont want to miss it!

One last thing! I'm now moving to full production of Chapter 3 so I hope to have some more exciting new to share soon!

Stay safe out there!
Ty

Boat Warfare: Waves Mode Update + Future Plans

Hey again everyone!

Not long ago I announced the new waves mode that is coming in the next update for Boat Warfare! You can look forward to the update releasing this week Friday 6/3!

If you just want to fight some enemies without running the story again and again then this is the mode for you. I've added functionality to allow you to chose how long you want to fight for, lives, max enemy counts, and even if you want to just fight bosses you can! With the launch of the mode there will be 3 maps and 3 modes with more coming in future updates as the story develops and more Chapters are released. (Chapter 3 is in the works!)

Now lets look to the future...

Following this update I have planned for the ability to customize your boat by finding collectables hidden in the levels of all the chapters, I will also be reworking the main menu and doing my best to further expand on the settings options. while I don't have a release date right now I can promise that It wont be a long wait!

Even further than that we get to Chapter 3, the chapter is officially in pre production and once this update is shipped and I have ironed out the Customization update my full focus will be on Chapter 3!

Phew that was a lot, I hope everyone is excited as I am for the future of Boat Warfare, until then enjoy the new mode dropping this Friday!

Boat Warfare Chapter 2 Released!

Phew its finally here! Chapter 2 brings a ton more to do for the game as well as exciting long awaited improvements. Before we jump into the patch notes I just want to thank you all for checking out an playing my game it means the world to me!

New goodies:
- added new chapter to the story including:
- 5 new levels
- new enemies
- new cutscenes
- new weapon
- new boss battles
- and more!
- implemented speedrun mode for Chapter 2
- added level select for both chapters (Note: Players will need to replay all levels on initial launch even if they had completed them)

Fixes:
- changed death screen button text to match its function
- fixed AI getting stuck on walls and other objects
- fixed quit button on Chapter 1: level 2
- fixed music not starting if first cutscene was skipped in Chapter 1
- fixed skip text not showing in Chapter 1: Cutscene 2
- fixed mines not damaging enemy boats
- fixed mines in Chapter 1: Level 4 all exploding at the 3rd objective
- fixed enemies getting stuck on objects while chasing player
- fixed issue where player would shoot water when looking up from under water

Hopefully everything lands on its feet and there aren't any big issues *Fingers crossed*

I know one of the biggest things that got added in this update will definitely be the level select, since Chapter 2 is significantly longer than Chapter 1 if you want to take a break and come back to finish later now you can! Another important change was the issue that caused the player to shoot the water when aiming up and now that it is fixed players can enjoy the full range of camera movement (gone are the days of having to back up to hit what you are shooting!).

As always if you have any issues please feel free to tweet at me or reach out via the support email!

Enjoy Chapter 2!

The Everything Has Changed Update

Releasing next Tuesday 2/1/2022, is the Everything Has Changed Update, as the name says will change everything! There are a ton of things that I am changing so ill give an outline of the major ones!

One of the most noticeable changes you will see is the new water

The enemies also got a rewrite, so no longer will there be just circling boats! This should allow for more interesting play and interaction with them.

The players main weapon also got reworked, to add more engagement with shooting I added a short cooldown to break up just holding how the shoot button!

I look forward to hearing the feedback on the changes being made and I hope you enjoy everything coming in the update! I will be releasing a detailed patch notes on the day of release so stay tuned for more information!
