Hello!

I'd like to thank everyone who took a chance and played Boltcraft on Steam! This is a kind of project that I'm doing as a hobby and because of my love for top-down action games. Every new person who gives my game a chance makes me very happy and I really don't know how to thank them!

I started this new project at the end of last year, with the aim of taking the current Boltcraft mechanics and improving them, with the aim of making the game look more polished and coherent.

During this year I managed to work on this new project and you will be able to see part of this result later this year, on December 30, 2023!



Boltcraft II now includes procedural generation maps, fog of war, difficulty modes, hardcore, weapons and much more!



The new version is in the DEMONSTRATION phase and I invite everyone to give feedback on what can be improved or implemented, on the day of launch I will be informed with the page access link. Your feedback is very important to me.

Update 1.34 - Armor and Items



Armor


We are updating the game's armor calculation so we can make armor scaling possible.

Old calculation: 5 armor -> 5% damage reduction
Current calculation: 5 armor -> 13% damage reduction = (*0.03)/(1+0.03*)

Armor reduction:
Old calculation: -5 armor -> 5% amplified damage
Current calculation: -5 armor -> 16% amplified damage = 0.97^()

With this update, we have changed the values of some armor values present in the game, follow the tables below:





Items


We have updated ALL existing items in the game with the aim of making most of them an interesting choice for the player. We will not put the list of all items and their changes here, so if you are interested in seeing the items in the game we have this link from our wiki.

Markets


- Moved item market from Courtyrd Lake to Courtyard Plaza.
- Removed old market from Courtyard Plaza.
- The first level has a market with 3 items to buy, the last level has 5 items to buy and the other levels have 4 items.
- Potions have a value of 0 gold and are no longer distributed in most markets.

Maps


- Forest Sanctuary stage now opens all dungeon gates.

- Updated HUD.

Recharge Time: 40->28 seconds
Energy Cost: 400 -> 300
Calls a lightning storm around the user dealing damage and stuns to enemies.
Area: 600
Damage: 210 + 20% AP (per lightning) -> 250 + 28% AP (unique)
Stun: 2.5 seconds
Effect: Random lightning every 0.10 seconds for 3 seconds -> single lightning ring that deals damage wherever it goes.

Randomness did indeed make this skill unpopular, we hope it finds its place now given a unique function.



Arcane Shot
Damage: 14 + 3% AP -> 24 + 4% AP

Arcane Barrage
Damage: 14 + 2,5% AP -> 24 + 4% AP

Volley
Cooldown: 2.00 -> 0.50 second(s)
Damage: 42 + 10,6% AP -> 26 + 8,8% AP

Rollout

Of the Arcane Marksman's 3 specializations, the Ranger suffered the most to progress in the game even in the early areas. The idea is to strengthen the mechanics of casting the Volley skill and being able to move around frequently with Rollout while dealing a decent amount of damage to enemies.

Metamorphosis
- No longer makes use of inventory items.

A skill is already too powerful without the use of items.

We are improving the stats for these skills to make them more attractive options.

The idea of this change is to make Borrowed Time more popular, but also now having maximum power cap.

Wind Blade
Energy Restore per hit: 3 + 0,014% AP -> 5 + 0,02% AP

Piercing Strike
Energy Restore per hit: 3 + 0,013% AP -> 5 + 0,02% AP

Spear
Energy Restore per hit: 3 + 0,012% AP -> 5 + 0,02% AP

Spear Rain
Energy Restore per hit: 1 + 0,001% AP -> 2 + 0,005% AP

We believe that making melee attacks more rewarding will help Battlemage solve its problem of lack of energy in prolonged battles.

We want Command Aura to be valuable even with Builds with few Summon opportunities.

Akuma no Shotto - Fires a chaos bolt dealing AoE damage with lifesteal.
Yugami - The user blinks and left a ilusion behind.
Kurayami - Deal AoE damage around the user and stun enemies.

Cooldown: 0.40 second
Description: Creates a stream of dark energy in the direction the user are pointing which drains the life of the enemies dealing damage each second and healing the user and slowing the targets. It consume energy each second. Recast to stop channeling.



Whirlwind

Gold cost: 1800
Cooldown: 14 seconds
Description: Creates a vortex at selected point that suck all nearby enemies dealing damage every second and slowing the targets. The vortex lasts a few seconds.

Developer Comment: We want to Finger of Death becomes more impactful throughout the adventure.

Developer Comment: This ability wasn't worthy to be casted at majority of situations, we hope to change its fate... a little bit.

Reflect

[NEW] Now enemies hit are knockbacked.

Developer Comment: We're removing the non-sense damage from the ability and replacing by a knockback (more logical), improving its QoL and finally adding some scaling option.

Developer Comment: The previous Fan of Knives skill wasn't proving satisfactory, so we replaced it with an entirely new version.

Developer Comment: Frost Nova was originally intended to be an ability that scaled decently towards the end of the game, but we also want to make it more worthwhile to cast at early levels due to its high energy cost.

Developer Comment: We're increasing the power of Flame Strike a bit to be more relevant in the final moments of the game.

Developer Comment: This skill wasn't fulfilling its role competently, so we're giving it some power.

Developer Comment: This skill ended up being most of the time a difficult skill to hit and little compensatory, by increasing the enemy detection radius, we hope that the skill can be used more often.

Fountain of Power



Buff duration: 3 -> 9 seconds.

Developer Comment: The fact that the player could not lose any region of the Fountain of Power made it most of the time, unfeasible even in boss battles where the character's movement is limited. With the increase in effect duration, we expect the skill to have a steady effect in boss battles and on some maps, it can keep up with the player.

Shock Nova



Cooldown: 10 -> 8 seconds.

Developer Comment: The cooldown was too high for the reasonable damage this skill sustains.

Removed Summon Mushroom ability.

Developer Comment: The Tree Monster was too dark in color and was at risk of blending in with the terrain on some monitors, we are giving a little more light to its texture and also applying the same filter to its abilities. We've also updated his skill kit by removing the mushroom summon skill as it doesn't make sense to the character's kit but making up for it by casting his roots skill earlier.

Metalguard


Dash damage: 148 -> 106

Developer Comment: In some situations, this opponent along with other units makes his combo become something fatal if applied several times, reducing his damage makes the player have a longer counterattack time to act.

Boltcraft will be released on July 29!



Finally the arrival of Boltcraft has a date, it will be released this Friday the 29th and comes with a 20% discount!



Start an adventure through the dungeon by making different sets of spells, items and passive powers each round. Visit the mushroom village, use the madness totem among your enemies, unleash fire blasts, summon legions of undead minions, summon storms, create black holes and much more!
