Bomber Barn

Bomber Barn will soon be free to play!

In light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak, we at Late Leaf Games have decided to make Bomber Barn free.

We understand that many people around the world are facing financial hardships, emotional difficulties, and plain boredom.

Making Bomber Barn available for free is our way of contributing to making these unfortunate times a little bit more bearable.

Our goal has always been to connect others through interactive experiences -- the decision to create a couch multiplayer game speaks to that mission directly, especially in this very "online" age.

Transition to Free Version

For those of you who lovingly supported us and bought a copy already, thank you so much! It means a lot to us that you decided to purchase Bomber Barn. As a token of our gratitude, you'll be rewarded with an exclusive in-game cosmetic and a special Steam achievement. Plus, every time you launch the game, everyone will see that you've got the OG Edition.

It will take several days for the game to be listed as free on Steam, so please be on the look out later this week.

Please stay safe and connected to your loved ones. We'll all get through this together. Gaming will make it easier ːsteamhappyː

Bomber Barn - Officially Released!

Bomber Barn has officially hit version 1.0.0 after a year of Early Access!

The latest update brings a few bug fixes and user experience enhancements.

For example, we've read feedback from the general couch multiplayer community regarding the unlock cost of core gameplay elements being too high. A lot of folks want to purchase a game, turn on their controllers, and get into it right away. So all the maps now cost much fewer coins to unlock, while the Mix-Ins and cosmetics remain untouched.

It's been a long, wonderful road since the very first day we began work on Bomber Barn. Thank you so much to everyone who played the game and supported us at live events!

If you like this game, share it with your friends and tell people to get a copy! We would love to come back to this game and create more awesome content for it. Keep in touch with us via the usual channels ːsteamhappyː

October 2019 Update: Spooky Halloween!

Hey Bombers,

School is back in session (sorry to remind you...) and so is Bomber Barn development!

The Return of the Spooky Core

To get into the Halloween spirit, we've re-added the special spooky version of the Core map:

This might look familiar to you if you were at our live events last year. Due to technical reasons, it looks a bit different -- personally, we think it's better now, but let us know which you prefer!

New Hats & Skins

With this latest update, we've added several cosmetic options to differentiate yourself further from other bombers on the battlefield. *cue fashion model runway music*

Do the Wave

Another new visual touch: whenever a bomber is eliminated, a shockwave ripples outward. Ouch!

Fixing Bugs on the Keyboard

And lastly, no update would be complete without squashing some bugs. There were some issues when two players were playing on the keyboard -- hopefully now everything's good and final.

That's all we've got, now that September is behind us. Remember to post on the Steam forums, Twitter, or anywhere else to share your feedback on Bomber Barn.

August 2019 Update: Steamworks!

Hey Bombers,

I hope you've been having a nice summer! It's been quite hot and humid so far in New York, but hopefully some of you are in more comfortable places.

This is basically our biggest structural update before adding new in-game content. In other words, we welcome a few long overdue additions:

Steamworks Integration

Bomber Barn now has support for Steam features! Right now, that means:

  • stats
  • achievements
  • Steam Cloud saves

We're starting with 1 achievement for now - more to come!

Steam Cloud support is used to sync your progress in the game, such as which maps and outfits you've unlocked.

*** Please note that your save file will almost certainly no longer be loaded correctly. ***

The next time you launch Bomber Barn, you'll start from scratch.

*** To fix this, we've included a top secret cheat code you can enter at the title screen to receive 200 coins. ***

Hopefully this lets you re-unlock everything you had before. Check the end of this post for the code!

Custom Controls

You are no longer forced to use the stock control scheme. If you want to, say, assign Drop Bomb to the Right Bumper on your controller, now you can! Simply go to Controller Setup, join in, and you'll automatically be prompted to set your Drop Bomb and Special Ability buttons.

Various Text Enhancements

The Sudden Death countdown is a bit more prominent now:

The "chapter title" on the bottom-left corner of the Tutorial used to show up incorrectly on Windows, which should be fixed now. Also, the "Exit Tutorial" text prompt animates slightly as a visual hint when it's over.

Added Settings

You can now set some basic graphics settings in the game, like Quality Level and Fullscreen Mode.

Added Credits

Of course, we always give credit where credit is due. The Main Menu now has a Credits section where you can find out all about the awesome people who helped make Bomber Barn possible!

Thanks for reading this far into the update! Here's the secret cheat code below. Be sure to enter it carefully; you'll hear a coin sound if it works.

As usual, let us know if you run into any strange issues or problems with this version!

May 2019 Update: Pesky Bug Fixes

Hey Bombers,

We're just about done unwinding after Playcrafting's wonderful Spring Play event in New York City this past weekend, where many, many gamers came together to support local developers!

By our count, over the 4-hour afternoon, we completed about 40 full matches of Bomber Barn. During that time, of course, we also encountered some nasty bugs, which are fixed in this latest update.

Also, several dedicated folks signed up to be special Early Access supporters, which makes us feel warm and fuzzy ːsteamhappyː

So let's cut to the change log, shall we?

4-Player Games Not Starting

There was a strange bug that in many cases prevented the match from starting when four players were all ready. We've now fixed it so full parties can always game!

Hats and Skins Disappearing In-Game

We noticed a lot of folks opting to put on the blue party hat, or take on the black Quick Cat skin. But once the match started, they reverted to the default appearance. Apparently this was an issue mostly on the Mac, but we've fixed it across the board now. Bomb in style!

Fixed UI Scaling on 16:10 Resolutions

This came up during testing on our MacBook, but now everything should look right.

Added Match Record Archive

All completed matches are now saved in a local file (separate than the save file used to track unlocks). There's no way to display any meaningful information from them yet, but it will come in handy down the road for stats, achievements, and other goodies.

April 2019 Update: Sudden Death and Feline Finesse

Hey Bombers,

Sorry for the radio silence over the past month! Rest assured, we're finally back in action with some new enhancements to Bomber Barn...

Sudden Death

Draws are so boring! By popular demand, we've added a sudden death that kicks in when the round timer expires.

During sudden death, your bomber will begin to automatically drop bombs. As more time passes, you drop them faster and faster, leaving a deadly trail of flames close behind!

Special thanks to riku.petteri for the inspiration ːsteamhappyː

Feline Finesse

We've buffed the Quick Cat, with a new Passive Ability called Feline Finesse. In addition to the usual (faster starting movement), you can now always pass through your own bombs!

This opens up your mobility options a lot and should be a significant buff, especially when playing with certain mix-ins that make everyone speedy to begin with.

Special thanks to lcd_screen for this suggestion ːsteamhappyː

Elimination Indicators

When playing in Elimination mode, it was sometimes unclear who got credit for a certain elimination (or if you died to your own bomb).

Now, whenever someone scores an elimination, a "+1" icon will pop up for a few moments in their corner portrait, indicating a point.

Keyboard Controls Modal

On the Title Screen, if no controllers are plugged in, some brief intro text will appear, showing the keyboard controls for P1 and P2. This way, it's up front, without requiring players to look up readmes, etc.

Bug Fixes & Optimizations

  • Fixed bug that did not correctly register bots as players in the match (thanks, MILKMAN and Dexter Monster!)
  • Slightly optimized the clouds coming out of Dojo Donkey's kicks

Bomber Barn LIVE in New York

By the way, if you're in the New York City area, come check out Bomber Barn at the Playcrafting Spring Expo on May 18, 2019. It's free and there'll be lots of pizza and fun games to go around. And of course, a sneak peek into what's next for Bomber Barn!

February 2019 Update: Rematches and Cosmetics

Hey Bombers,

Our first ever Bomber Barn update is out now! Here's an overview of the changes:

Rematch

Whenever a match is over, you now have the option of starting another one right away (same Bombers, same map, same mix-ins). Great for getting revenge after a close game ːsteammockingː

Toggle Music/Sound

In the pause menu, you can now turn music/sound off.

Launch Issues

We heard from some of you that you couldn't even get Bomber Barn running, which is tragic! This update should get it working now :)

Cosmetics (Finally!)

All Bombers can now put on a light-blue party hat! In addition, Quick Cat has the first skin option available, allowing you to sneak even harder in the shadows now ːsteamhappyː

That's all for today, folks -- but don't worry, we've got plenty more coming soon, like a Sudden Death mechanic and more content.

Stay tuned for more exciting updates!

Bomber Barn released on Steam Early Access!

Hey Bombers,

We did it!

Bomber Barn is officially out under Steam Early Access, so if you enjoyed the demo, you can play the unrestricted version now!

All around the world, we're seeing extreme weather (super cold in the U.S. Midwest, super hot in Australia). We'd recommend staying indoors and playing games with friends and family ːsteamhappyː

As always, please share your thoughts on the game via the Steam discussions, or tweet to us @lateleafgames. It could be a funny gameplay video, a suggestion, bug report, feature request... just no Fortnite dances, please ːsteammockingː

Bombs away!

Early Access demo is live!

Hey bombers,

We just updated the demo, so right now you can play the latest version before Bomber Barn comes out under Steam Early Access next week.

Random map vote

You can now abstain from map voting and pick "?". Hint: if a random map is selected, you can potentially end up on a map that you... *gasp* haven't unlocked yet! Give it a try sometime.

Added Tutorial

It's a watch-and-learn segment (no interactive tutorial yet), but it should prove helpful for first-time Bomber Barn players.

Match Complete screen fixed

When you finish a match, the background no longer shows one of the forest-farm maps -- you'll see an angle of the battlefield that you were just on.

Pause menu fixes

There were a bunch of pause-related issues, but I think we're set now for the most part (for example, the music stops).

Input hints on menus

Generally, we show you what button to press to go forward/back in menus ːsteamhappyː

General UI/text changes

We've clarified some language and UI elements in various places so the overall flow before/after games should be a bit smoother.

As usual, please let us know what you think! You can post on the Steam forums or even as a comment on this announcement right here.
