Okay so I just got the 'itch' or whatever a few days ago and improved the game some more. Why not a better time than now, right?

ADDITIONS
New Enemy: Owls! Hoo Hoo HOO saw these coming? Nobody, that's hoo. They like to perch on flagpoles and poop on unsuspecting skeletons named Smitty. Even though they don't technically fly around, they DO count as flying enemies and the Spear will deal critical damage when they're struck.
When you read a secret book or are otherwise given a clue about an Old School mode unlock, it'll not specifically mention that to the player. I saw a few streams of the game lately and the way it was worded before left some wondering if there was some secret Cultist Shop somewhere in Vanilla Mode. Now everyone will know that these are specifically Old School mode unlocks for next time.
CHANGES
I got rid of the pile of rocks in the Plant Zone near the save point. This further opens up some new routes / new items to grab early if you want to. Sequence breaking is the name of the game!
The Red Ring now increases regular / non-magic or elemental weapons' damage by +3 (was +2). To those of you who haven't played the game yet, this is actually a pretty huge change.
The Cactus Rod's magic damage was increased from 2-6 to 3-7. I figure this is kind of hard to get so it might as well have more pop to it.
Izo's Razor's curse to heal the enemy instead of damage them was reduced to 4% (was 10%). This make the weapon a hell of a lot more useful to players, since it's a pretty powerful weapon when the heal doesn't kick in.
The Spear's animation was slightly improved and lengthened, as well as its hit box improved.
Enemy Meat you get from killing enemies is now worth 2 points of food (was 1).
FIXES
None this time!
-----
So since last time we spoke the game has been doing actually pretty well for itself. I do have some more plans on possibly making some new additions to it at a later date, but for now this should be a nice surprise for you returning vets and those who picked up Bone Appetit during the Winter Sale.
Happy New Year's!

Important Bug Fix
Hello and good evening
I just read that there was a bug where the upgraded golden sword "Del Duious" could be overwritten because the regular sword's chest was not spawning as previously opened during the next time you play the game. This has been fixed and tested, and should be working now.
Apologies this got in, the new sword was part of February's major update and I hadn't worked on that bit of code for many years prior.
Thanks for bringing this bug to my attention so it won't happen to anyone else!

Surprise! It's a Bone Appetit update.. And a 25% off sale!
Hello!
This is a free surprise content update for everybody's favorite undead food thief, Smitty. I had been kicking around the notion to go back into Bone Appetit and make some changes and additions for quite a while now, but had been super busy working on (and releasing) my 2nd roguelike Equin 2: The Warren Peace. After that game came out, it left me some time to work on this again. And here we are!
What I've done is gone through many areas and aspects of the game and re-evaluated most everything, tweaking as I went. One focus was making the 2nd battery you find more useful (with the charged bricks). Another was to make magic wands and stuff more viable. BUUUUT without spoiling way too much, I can safely say that any existing fans of the game should love this update, and any on the fence well now there's more stuff you can think about before taking the plunge.
ADDITIONS
There's now a new red door blocking King Fatass' final area in Old School Mode. In order to get past it, you must kill the other 5 bosses. Merely having the green Master Key is no longer enough. This puts a bit more challenge into Old School Mode, which I admit was kind of easy before to just fly through with some select items.
New rooms! A total of 11, area-wise. These are both regular and secret types. They've been distributed about the map in some interesting ways. Remember that old dead end from before? Maybe there's something new there now!
New weapon: Del Duious. This is an upgraded version of the Sword, with better damage, bonus damage vs bosses, and increased defense when equipped (+15%). You'll need to find the new upgrade statue well to change your sword to this.
New Power-Up: Purple Ring+ (Deals +8 damage with all magic wands)
New side quest: Rescue the teddy bear!
New side quest: Outcast Wizard!
More poor cultist corpses about the place. You gotta' love these guys
The Mace now has holy sparklie doos that come out when you swing it (Old School Mode weapon only, after unlocking through the main game).
CHANGES
Re-arranged some of the existing rooms and made them more.. METROIDVANIA-Y
Baby bats in Hugo's boss fight are now the same color as their mum. Make sense, right??
The Noob Rod's range was extended, damage increased from 1-4 to 1-5
Blue Rod damage was increased from 2-4 to 3-6
Magic Wand damage was increased from 3-10 to 5-10
Mace's damage was increased from 2-5 to 3-7
Cactus Rod's magic shield was made much better and its spin animation slightly slowed down, meaning you'll have a more worthwhile shield up for longer that can block more projectiles
Dagger's crit chance when stabbing from behind increased from 20% to 50%
The Flail's swing speed was increased, meaning maybe now somebody will use it for non rock-breaking stuff
Moved some minor treasures around- potion / apple / banana and etc to fill the new rooms
Slightly improved the furnace fires, graphically
Barbell critical damage increased from +25% to +50%
Adjusted the mini map slightly to reflect some of the new room changes
FIXES
Moved the frog slightly as being in the water sometimes didn't trigger a description of what it did when you picked it up.

So there you go! As of right now, Bone Appetit is sitting at 43 (46) reviews, the goal is to try and get at least 50, as then it'll go into Steam's next bracket for visibility and therefore hopefully more eyes and potential players in the future. So if you like what you see, please consider leaving a review and helping this solo dev out!
Thanks, and have a great day! -Dave / Del_Duio
Equin 2: The Warren Peace on Steam Next
Thank you, Bone Appetit fans. If you think a traditional roguelike that doesn't have a kabillion key controls might be for you, well then I might have just the thing right here ːsteamhappyː And now it looks like Steam supports cross-promotion on these things too!
My upcoming sequel to Equin: The Lantern is part of the October Steam Next event which started today, Friday Oct. 1st. Be a part of it and check out the new & updated free demo. The demo lets you play as the Warrior class though the first two areas but otherwise has no other restrictions. I really think anybody who enjoyed Equin: The Lantern will for sure like The Warren Peace as well.
As always any feedback would be super helpful to me. The game is planned for a Nov. 19th 2021 release.
Thanks and enjoy the event!!
DXF Games' new one, "Equin 2: The Warren Peace" Roguelike
The spirit and brains behind Bone Appetit goes on through another adventure!
I have been hard at work on this thing for over a year, with plans to release it this November. With my own personal experiences of being intimidated by many traditional roguelike control schemes I've put it to good use here: EQ2 is intentionally designed to not need a MENSA card in order to play. Whenever you're on or near something you'd like to interact with, just press the space bar and a menu will pop up with any and every available option you're able to perform- Open a chest, Close a door, Drink from a well (or fill an empty bottle from that well), Enter shops, Melt ice with a torch, etc etc you guys get the idea.
The credo of this game is unofficially "Fight monsters, not the controls!"
The Story So Far
An evil wizard has written a 6000-page book, "The Warren Peace", which is the longest and most boring book known to man. Sending it to your village, the curious townsfolk started to read it and then PROMPTY BORED THEMSELVES TO DEATH. As the mysterious stranger, you found the book and have vowed to destroy it by returning it FROM WHENCE IT CAME.
"The Warren Peace" is also an in-game indestructible item, which can be equipped in your off-hand slot and read in combat. This will put your character to sleep for a single round, but enable him to recover stamina. Stamina is used for fighting and many other actions within the game like fishing or digging up graves.
Main Features
Easy to use controls, which I find to be a rarity for roguelikes
Lovable rabbit warriors, thieves, wizards, and clerics.. to routinely kill all the live long day
Equipped gear visibly shows on your character
Larger visible playing field
Battle enemies in first person combat, or automatically 'bump to kill' weaker ones at high levels
Hundreds of items and gear to find and upgrade
More diverse class skills and this time you can choose what you learn
Travel the world to dispose of the evil book- from swampy temples to arid deserts to underground prisons and more!
A brand new OST featuring real drums, bass, keyboard / synths, and guitars.

Bone Appetit - Great Speedrun video from The Metroidvania Review guys
Hello!
This morning I saw that the "The Metroidvania Review" guys had put Bone Appetit on their top 10 list for best of 2020. Yeah!! These guys are really great at what they do and their channel deserves way more subs (as of right now it's a bit more than 300 I believe).
Looking back a bit I was re-watching their Let's Play / Speed run for Bone Appetit from a few months ago and it's really entertaining. I feel like I should do my part in helping a great YouTuber out, so here it is below. Keep in mind that there are pretty MAJOR SPOILERS throughout, so if you don't want to get spoiled then just pretend that this post is ALL A BAD DREAM.
What's especially nice is that these guys don't rely on swearing every 4 seconds, making tons of weird noises or a billion edits per minute. If you like what you see I would highly recommend giving them a sub as well!
I guess that's all I gotta' say at this time, have a great weekend!
