30 Minute Exercise Fundamental Level Option Added

30 minute fundamental level exercise option now added.

This was requested by player The Professor, so thank you for this suggestion and also for player feedback about the new foundational level.

It has been a little longer than usual for an update as I was on holiday for 3 weeks in April but back to it now.

More updates coming soon. Have a great week :)

20 Minute Time Added to the New Foundation Level

* 20 minute time choice added to the new Foundation Level.

+ Bug fix for Foundation Level where if core exercises were switched off it in 'Settings' it was glitching out the algorithms in the 10 and 15 minute time bands.

Will get working on adding new exercises, plus more player suggested improvements for further updates.

15 Minute Time Added for the New Foundation Level

* A 15 minute exercise time added to the new Foudation Level.

There is now a 10 minute and a 15 minute option in the new Foundation Level.

A 20 minute option is being built for the next update.

Thank you for the valuable feedback letting me know that the new level is welcomed by players.

Cheers,
Kevin :)

New Foundation Level Added

After many requests from players to bring out a foundation level for absolute beginners or beginner seniors, a 10 minute Foundation Level workout has now been added.

This new level has no ground exercises, just purely standing exercises that are beginner friendly. Ideal as a more gentle introduction before tackling Beginner Level.

15 minute and also 20 minute exercise options for Foundation Level are being developed and tested and will come out soon.

Also, text in a few of the rest periods will now appear in the scrolling 'tips' reminding players that they can use the spacebar to pause and unpause the game for rest, any time extra rest time is needed.

This is one of the many updates coming aimed at absolute beginners. After the 15 min and 20 min options are added, 8 more exercises will be added before adding instructions for every exercise outside of game play, then adding the ability to skip exercises. Modifier exercises will also be added at some point.

Thank you for all the great feedback leading to the creation of this new level. I will get cracking on adding 15 an 20 minute options and bring these out soon.

Foundation Level Coming in January

Just a quick announcement to say that I am working on a Foundation Level for Boot Camp Fitness. This will take time to implement, test and revise but should be ready to be released as an update in January.

Thank you for players' suggestions requesting this introductory absolute beginner level.

I really want to support players new to exercising and players who for whatever reason require a more gentler level / introduction to exercising regularly. Player suggestions such as adding modifier exercises, the ability to skip exercises and complete instructions for every exercise outside of gameplay will eventually be implemented in the near future also.

This level will not include any ground exercises or advanced exercises and will be mainly standing low impact aerobic exercises. There will be 3 time selection options - 10 minutes, 15 minutes and 20 minutes, as if a player can go beyond 20 minutes at foundation level then they will be more than likely ready for Beginner Level.

Foxelle recently gave a really great breakdown of how Boot Camp Fitness could be improved. I have written Foxelle's helpful suggestions down in notes and it sits on my desktop. After the Foundational Level is up I will set about implementing some of Foxelle's ideas + The Professor's ideas from feedback to further support players at every fitness / ability level.

Thank you for your patience for this update and for such great suggestions for improvements.

Kevin :)

New Core Exercises Added

New core exercises added:

Accordion Crunches
Side Crunches
Standing Ab Twists
Windshield Wipers

From helpful feedback from players there have been some requests for a 'Foundation' level. A kind of true beginners level, so I will begin working on this for a near future update.

The player 'Professor' has pointed out the need for the configuration to skip exercises and also for modified exercise options. This helps navigate exactly what needs to be added in future development.

More added exercises are to come and also the new foundational level.

Thank you to players for your support and encouragement for this project, and also for helpful constructive criticism helping to shape the game.

Bug fix for notification sound randomly not sounding

A small bug fix thanks to Jojomo who noticed that the exercise notification sound sometimes didn't sound for the end of exercises during strength exercises.

In the end, found a notification bell script that was not enabled in the Squat Hold exercise's code. For example, if WIde Grip Push Ups transitioned into Squat Holds the end of the Wide Grip Push Ups notification sound would not sound.

This should be fixed now. A high five to Jojomo for spotting that and letting me know.

More new exercises added.

New core exercises added:

* Janda Crunch
* Hundreds
* Dead Bugs
* Full Leg Plank March

+ Jojomo noticed the sound notification for Wide Grip Push Ups wasn't triggering. This didn't happen on testing on my PC, but I will keep testing and will keep an eye out for if this happens and fix this if I encounter it. Maybe it happens when switching to a particular exercise from Wide Grip Push Ups, so I will double check the code for notifications on all exercises over the next few weeks.

Thank you for all the encouragement by players to improve this app and also for all the ideas lately for sister apps that can run alongside Boot Camp Fitness in the future.

New Exercises Added

* Reach & Twist added.
* Jab (to head level) added.
* Double Jab added.
* Jab then Front Uppercut added.

New exercises added. I will get cracking on adding more exercises and regular updates now that I am back from a holiday break.

I have a lot more hours now in my daytime job, after Covid, so have less time than when I was in the lockdowns, but I will aim to get an update out about every 4-6 weeks. I will continue to add to the game/app and improve it.
In this phase still adding new exercises. Setting a specific time to work on the game consistently seems to be the key when working a full time job and programming for a hobby.

More exercises on the way.

Cheers, Kevin.

Diet Ideas Taken Out After Player Feedback

* Diet Ideas section scrapped after player feedback. Awards can now be accessed from the main screen.
* Developer on holiday till 20th April but will be back with more updates early May.

This is a bit of a strange update, as I am subtracting something rather than adding to the game, and here is why:

Metsushiro gave me some fantastic feedback in which he pointed out to me that the Diet Ideas section was the one part of the game where disappointment was felt. So I spent about 3 weeks researching nutrition and diet related information and asking physique coaches about how they advise their clients.

The idea I had was to totally overhaul the Diet Ideas section, making it more autonomous, as in the player can choose a diet from list of different ideas, rather than just one suggested idea. I made up the graphics and was ready to surprise Metsushiro with a totally new Diet Ideas section.

However, I have now learnt from the advice that physique coaches have given me and now realise that it is a HUGE area / knowledge base. From refeeds, reverse dieting, diet breaks, special diets for different types of clients. Plus information about macronutrients, micronutrients and that isn't even factoring in the psychological aspect of dieting for fat loss or maintenance.

So, I gradually, after a lot of research concluded that Metsushiro's advice to scrap that area and maybe make it into DLC (not paid DLC) or even a dedicated app in the future was the best advice. Instead I will knuckle down to adding more exercises and following the development road map. Then maybe look at developing a diet and meal plan app/DLC from physique coaches' advice and overseeing.

So, in a nutshell I am not giving up on the idea of a diet/meal plan with recipes. Just needs to either be in separate DLC or made into a dedicated app. As otherwise I am going to end up cluttering up Boot Camp Fitness.

_______________

Also, I am on holiday from 1st March to 20th April, but I will still check comments and chase up any glitches reported. The next round of updates will be beginning of May and I will include Metsushiro's idea of including more stretching/warm down exercises loosening up the lower back area.

I feel that I need a break to reset after the lockdowns / past 2 and a half years of working from home Covid era, but I will be back refreshed to follow up on more player ideas.

There was a glitch/bug reported for the 20 minute algorithms. I have game tested those algorithms and haven't come across it yet, but I will continue to play test them using different configurations.

Sorry this update is a bit duff - subtracting something and then announcing I'm on holiday. I will make up for it in May though with even more exercises bring added.
