Breadskate

THREE YEARS IN THE OVEN??!!

woah its already been 3 years huh?

thank you for still supporting and wishlisting breadskate.
sadly this year i don't think i can make a full compilation of clips like last year (see in the bottom if you missed it), but I'll post some "dev thoughts" here.

This year was a disaster for me. I didn't have that much time to work on the game, but I remained confident that I should never stop and leave it midway. It's something I'm just passionate about, and so I continued to work on code and reinforcing the game's structure.

I've learned a lot during this game's development and I became more confident with my coding compared to where I was in 2020. A bunch of game's old core code wasn't really well expandable, so I had to rework some systems (like tricks! posted a little clip on that not so long ago).

Another thing that needed attention is my level design. It needed more details, both on gameplay and visuals side. The first location (featured in demo 2.0) had a nice idea, but it was old, and wasn't as good and fun as I wanted it to be.
The third location, Duck City, is a big point for story mode and it's still the most unfinished one. I knew what I want it to be, but I wasn't sure how to actually build its environment. But I've gotten better and I had some help, so hopefully someday I can show more of it!

I really want the game to be a nice media piece, and not just a compilation of random stuff that doesn’t really make sense. Breadskate is still going to be just a silly little game with nothing really serious in it, but I want the whole structure of it to feel pretty solid. It takes time.

Thank you everyone who was somehow involved in the development, who contributed, who helped and supported me. And of course, to everyone who tried the demo and added the game to their wishlists. It really warms my heart.

Check out the video I made last year if you haven't already seen it. I compiled some old and nostalgic clips from the development of the game there:

Twitter is dying right now, but if it gets better, you can follow me there: @LaZrick_ . However, if it doesn't, I will use steam news more often, as well as posting small stuff on youtube.

500 WISHLISTS!

This is our first big achievement, my bread people!

For someone this number might seem small, compared to other games.
But I, personally, didn't even think we'd come this far. To be honest, I didn't even think we'd make a steam page for this game, but for some reason it happened and I'm really glad it happened.
This project wasn't meant to be a full game at start, and now what? Now I'm working on it almost as it's my full time job.

And to my surprise, there are actually many people discovering this game completely randomly! I guess this game is actually appealing to you, haha!

I'm really happy that I'm working on this project and that someone actually likes it. This whole game is an experiment for me, and through this year I've learned many new things just to implement something cool in this game. And you know what? It's fun!

I want to say thank you all for your support!
For your kind words, for your recommendations, tests and even donations on Itch.io demo. (didn't expect last one to happen and was really surprised, thanks :) )

Remember to follow me on Twitter, I'm posting updates about the game and things I'm working on there!
