Brick vs. Paddle Update 1.2.0!

Build: 20181130 (v1.2.0):


  • Improved collision code for the sticky paddle and the ball so that the projectile should not pass through the paddle.
  • Removed outdated functions and all conversion scripts created from migrating from GameMaker Studio 1 to GameMaker Studio 2.
  • Placed player stats above all foreground and game art for easy reading.
  • Game now starts in full screen by default unless already set to windowed in settings.
  • Fixed paddle explosions that where not animated on some versions of the game.
  • Created custom mouse pointer for game.
  • Removed cat meows in level 6-2 (and possibly other levels as well, except for 1-2 where it belongs!).
  • Fixed the issue where the pirate ship in level 5-1 only fires a cannon once (also created sounds for cannon fire and broken screen).
  • White bricks created by Boss 5 will no longer affect player paddles and reduced the number of white bricks generated with each attack in attempts to make the boss easier to defeat.
  • Made level highlights underneath the level select boxes along with the special boxes.
  • Improved 4-S mechanics to prevent paddle from catching.
  • Fixed over glitter on ice cubes.
  • Made it so the cats would occasionally miss their attack on the the ball (to reduce longer loops and making the game slightly easier).
  • Fixed the issue where launching the ball off a sticky stick or sticky wheel was costing a charge when using the randomizer paddle.
  • Fixed the issue where the count down hangs in the super-top-secret-hidden-secret-room (I should not even be telling you about this).
  • Minor game mechanics improvements.
  • NOTE: Sorry macOS users, there where many unsuccessful attempts to compile this build for Apple computers with GameMaker Studio 2. For the time being, for an undefined length of time, Viaticum Games will be dropping support for macOS. If we find time, there may be another attempt to get this version built for macOS.


Also, during the month of December, you may notice the title screen is a little more festive!
