My apologies for not noticing this sooner. I assumed the screenshot system was automatic, but I guess I had to add a bit of code. Have a good day everyone!
Difficulty Modes! Version 1.1.0
Hey there brick breakers! Got the first major update for you today -- difficulty modes!
Here's what they entail:
EASY
- Ball accelerates half as fast.
- Uncommon power-ups spawn more often.
NORMAL
- Standard game difficulty.
HARD
- Ball's inital speed is faster.
- Ball accelerates twice as fast.
- Uncommon power-ups spawn less often (extra life still spawns as often as NORMAL).
There are no penalties to playing the game on any difficulty level. In other words, you can still receive all the achievements on EASY. But if you're interested in getting the highest score possible, HARD is the way to go, since more points are earned the faster the ball goes.
Version 1.0.05
Hi all! Got a quick fix here:
Balls that increase in size when they are very close to a wall could get stuck in them.
Now you may be wondering what V1.0.04 entailed, since I hadn't posted about it. It was a patch to a bug that I already thought was fixed (from V1.0.03). So, in the future, if you end up seeing any updates that I don't post about, it's probably to fix a bug that I already thought was fixed. It happens to the best of us, sometimes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Version 1.0.03 and Future Plans
Hi again! Got a small bug fix for you all, as well as some info about the first major update to Brickochet!
On rare occasions, power-ups/downs spawned near walls would get partially stuck in them, jittering against the wall as they fell. It's a difficult bug to reproduce, but with all the testing, I don't think it'll happen anymore.
Decreased volume of shooter paddle bullet sound effect a little more.
As for future plans, difficulty modes are likely to be the first major update. Expect it in the next coming weeks!
EDIT (9/12/17): The bug in which power-ups could get stuck in walls wasn't entirely fixed. Version 1.0.04 has been made today to fix this... hopefully. :)
Version 1.0.02
Hi everyone! Sorry to release an update so soon after the previous one. I noticed that sometimes upon losing a life, the variable that records whether or not the player has beat all 50 levels consecutively gets removed! Hopefully no one has got to that achievement yet. But if you have, I deeply apologize!
That being said, I'm fairly certain there aren't any other issues of that magnitude.
EDIT: I can safely confirm there are no more issues with the achievements. Have a good day, everybody!
Version 1.0.01
Hi guys! Just a couple of small adjustments:
Title bar in windowed mode showed "GameMaker: Studio." Changed to "Brickochet."
Slightly decreased the volume of the shooter paddle bullet sound effect.
Brickochet Launches Today!
Hello brick breakers! As you can tell, Brickochet releases today!
I hope you're looking forward to some classic breakout-style action like the good ol' days. Hopefully the release will go smoothly, as this is the first title I've publicly launched. In case you have any issues, please let me know on the discussion board.
As I mentioned in my previous post, launch day is only the beginning for Brickochet. Many improvements are being planned already! But most importantly, your feedback and suggestions play a key role in its development!
If you have ideas or anything you'd like to see, be sure to mention them in the Suggestions thread, which will be posted and pinned on the discussion board shortly.
Brickochet Launches in One Week!
Hello everyone! I'd just like to take a moment to discuss Brickochet's release, as well as future plans for the game.
I hope you're looking forward to Brickochet on September 4th. This is the first title I've finished and publicly launched. With that in mind, I hope you'll bear with me in case I screw something up. Launch day should to be pretty smooth, though (*laughs nervously and knocks on wood*).
Launch day is really only the beginning for Brickochet. There's a lot planned for the game coming up! In the midst of these bigger updates, patches and minor changes will be occurring more frequently.
Additionally, your feedback and suggestions play a key role in the future development of Brickochet. I want to make sure you guys are having as much fun as you can with this game, so if you have ideas or things you'd like to see, be sure to mention them in the Suggestions thread, which will be posted and pinned upon the game's release.
