I want to start off by thanking everyone for their support and feedback over these past few months (oh, how time flies!). It started off a bit bumpy at launch since this is my first game, but I genuinely believe that all of the comments, both good and bad, have helped me to make Brookhaven even better!
I’m also excited to share that bug reports have considerably decreased, much to the disappointment of Noah (sorry, bug boy). I owe special thanks to all of the wonderful people who reported bugs and were patient with me as I fixed them!
I also welcome everyone who was initially on the fence about playing Brookhaven to try out the Demo and test the game for themselves. I’m confident that you’ll fall in love with the world just like so many other players already have! Plus, if you get stuck or have any questions, there are numerous Guides available on Steam that were put together by players. And, of course, there’s always the Brookhaven Discord or Steam Discussions!
I’ve taken everyone’s feedback to heart and worked myself to the bone to implement better and smoother gameplay for a more enjoyable Brookhaven experience. I would like to highlight the most popular suggestions that were added into the game during these past few months:
Expanded Tutorial! Whenever you start a new game, the tutorial will be there until it’s turned off in the Settings menu. It includes everything you’ll need to know about the controls, the magic system, how machines work, how to summon minions, how to tame certain animals, supernatural abilities, and how to befriend (and possibly romance) villagers.
Reworked Controller Support! Thus far, I’ve received feedback that Brookhaven is working with Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo, and Steamdeck controllers. I will always recommend the game to be played with a keyboard and mouse, but it’s playable with controllers as well!
Improved the Inventory! By popular demand, I’ve added auto-transfer, auto-drop, and row-swapping.
New Pets! Mummies, Slimes, and Raccoons (oh my!). This brings the animal list to 24 different species for the player to raise: Cat, Dog, Chickens, Ducks, Rabbits, Peafowl, Cows, Sheep, Goats, Pigs, Alpacas, Foxes, Skunks, Raccoons, Penguins, Snow Phoenixes, Ravens, Owls, Parrots, Emus, Dragon, Zombies, Mummies, and Slimes!
Hardcore Mode! For players who like living life on the edge, look no further than hardcore mode! It makes monsters more difficult to defeat and villagers more challenging to befriend. Plus, pests are far more likely to target your unprotected crops, and monsters will appear on your farm each and every night!
You will also find new Steam Community items and a Points Shop where you can get Badges, Trading Cards, Emoticons, Backgrounds, Animated Stickers, or even Animated Profile Frames, whatever suits your fancy!
Lastly (but certainly not least), I would like to announce the Winners of the Fan Art Contest! All of the entries were incredible which has made this a very difficult decision, but without further ado… *Drum roll, please!*
First Prize goes to… Rosegold (#0386)!
Second Prize (chosen randomly from all entries) goes to… Mentha piperita (#7257)!
It's hard to believe that it has already been two months since Brookhaven was released, and I'm thrilled to announce that there is now a Demo for Brookhaven available on the Store page! It will remain up indefinitely with the most recent patch, so feel free to take a look whenever you get the chance. There's also a pre-recorded broadcast that will be playing over the weekend to showcase the first 7 hours of my playthrough (that ends with me becoming a vampire farmer).
Don't forget, there is a Fan Art Contest that is ongoing until the end of this month for those who are interested in a chance to win copies of the game and merchandise!
As of earlier this week, you can now receive Community Items for Brookhaven (Badges, Trading Cards, Emoticons, and Backgrounds).
Changelog:
New Feature: Hardcore Mode in the Settings. You can turn it ON/OFF whenever you’d like. This option will: spawn enemies at night on your farm, friendship decay, money earned from selling items is decreased, monsters have double their original health, and friendship gain is reduced by half.
New Secret Farming Zone added onto the player’s property.
New Steam achievements were added for Owning a Raccoon and completing Roman Rocks.
Added ‘Sparkles’ to the Summoning Circle in the player’s cave to remind them that they can interact with it.
Fixed the loophole that allowed the player to till soil with zero stamina.
Fixed the player’s children getting stuck on a barrier inside the house after 6pm.
Adjusted drop rates for the livestock in the barn and coop.
As always, if you find any bugs, please report them to Bug Report (via Steam or Discord, I check both frequently). Thank you~!
I would like to announce our 1st community event for Brookhaven! This is a fan art contest! Your art (Digital, Hand Drawn, Crafted) must be tasteful and family friendly to the spirit of the game. You do not need to already own Brookhaven to enter the contest!
Contest will be closed on April 30th and winners should be announced during the 1st week of May!
Theme: Show everyone your Easter/Spring dressed or inspired Witch or Warlock! Must include one element found within Brookhaven in your art somewhere.
Prizes: The grand prize winner will get a physical Brookhaven T-Shirt sent to them plus their choice of a Steam copy of Brookhaven (for yourself or to give to a friend) or a DLC item code for the Steam version.
The 2nd winner will be drawn at random from all those who entered something. The prize is a Brookhaven key to use or give out or a DLC code. We wish to encourage EVERYONE to join in with something and understand not everyone is a high end artist, so long as you submit something that is more then a "stick figure" and seems you put a little thought into it. You will be entered for this one.
To Submit: Share your picture below or on discord along with a small caption. Please keep in mind all entries may be used or displayed in social media and must be original fan art works that you created.
This is a small update to tackle an issue with memory optimization.
Changelog:
New Tameable Pet for Supporter 2 Edition: Raccoon. Once tamed, they will have a chance to drop trash or precious stones.
Optimized the Dark Overlay for minimal memory usage. If you experience an CreateTexture2D error, then I recommend turning Dark Overlay OFF in the Settings since it’s taking up too much memory space for your device.
Fixed Janus the Mirror crash when moving him.
When interacted with, the Bird Nest, Rock Igloo, and Snow Igloo can now tell you what food items to place into them to automatically feed those pets.
Included the mouse- left click option for the 3 Samhain mini-games. Previously, it was only using the Interact Key.
As always, if you find any bugs, please report them to Bug Report (via Steam or Discord, I check both frequently). Thank you~!
