Builder Simulator Team wishes you a Happy New Year!
Dear Builders!
We wish you a Happy New Year - let this year be the greatest one yet!
Wherever you are right now and no matter the way you're spending your New Year's Eve we would like to wish you a Happy New Year! We hope that this year will be full of amazing moments and we strongly believe that we'll be the ones to bring some of them to your doors! As fireworks and champagne corks are shooting up in the sky we are sure that 2022 will be a fantastic year for all of us - players!
We know for a fact that we'll have a lot to show to you in the coming months and we simply can't wait to share the effects of our work with all of you! We believe that what we have in store will amaze you and we're doing our best to that effect! Builder Simulator is an effect of our immense love for the idea that everyone can build amazing things using their imagination and our game and we hope this year will be a celebration of that fact!
As the winter rages on it's good to have a warm place where you can cozy up and spend quality bonding time with your family. It's the best time of year to reconnect with people you haven't seen in a while and talk your hearts out in front of a Christmas tree while eating great food! We hope that you all will have a great time during Christmas!
It's thanks to various builders of different periods that we can enjoy our holidays within 4 walls that provides us with security and safety. We often might take it for granted but buildings that we live in are uniquely crucial in our lives and they often influence our behaviours and mood. We hope that with Builder Simulator you'll be able to create something unique - your dreams in a virtual world of our game. We hope that in future you'll be able to present us with unique house concepts that you've conceived - some of them perhaps being winter or Christmas-themed!
After all as soon as you'll become a builder you will be able to create your dreams!
It's time for a short sneak-peek into our development - let's see some of the mechanics improved and enhanced!
First of all - we are very thankful for all feedback we've been able to gather up until this point. We know that you are still full of great ideas and suggestions and we can't wait to read about them and implement them into our work. In this devlog we're showcasing some of the changes we've introduced to the game in comparison to the playable demo. A lot is changing and a lot will be changed in future too - of course we'll be here to let you know about those changes via our devlogs!
Now without further ado, let's do it!
[previewyoutube="-PLvu8N-Hk4;full"]
The first change is a very vital one. We've received numerous reports about motion sickness being a problem when playing games featuring first person view. As soon as we've noticed that we've started doing our best to make sure that game will feature counter-measures that would affect players experiencing these kind of issues positively. We hope that changed way of walking of our character alongside many other tweaks and improvements to the overall way the game is displayed will make it accessible to all players!
[previewyoutube="JApP_7yv3iA;full"]
We're also making changes to many of the mechanics that you might have witnessed in the demo. In this case we've been working on a way to make sure that the process of installing the formworks and reinforcements remains visually pleasing and satisfying experience while giving it the extra oomph and quality-of-life adjustmentes. As you can see in the video above you'll be still able to place the particular elements manually one by one but if you want to increase the speed of the process - nobody is stopping you!
[previewyoutube="xpweq19cdYo;full"]
The same goes for the reinforcements, as shown above. To add to it we've been also working on creating new animations for our mechanics - you might expect better, snappier and more fitting animations of particular features to enhance your fun and immersion in the game!
Hope you had fun reading our devlog - make sure to tune in again next time!
As per the popular requests - we're happy to show you more from one of the levels we've been working on!
In the previous devlogs we gave you some insight into how will the overall atmosphere of the rural level shape up to be. We've received many positive voices and we're thankful for all comments and likes! As we've noticed your interest in the level grow we've decided to share some more awesome screenshots with you showcasing the are we're working on.
At the same time we don't want to overshare! We strongly believe that some things should be left unsaid - purely because we want to check your reactions after finding that certain Easter Egg or funny feature we've hidden somewhere on the level.
Still, while creating the level it was clear to us that it needs to feel alive! While you'll be working on your particular assignment or fulfilling your life-long dreams and ambitions as befitting the true builder, you'll notice many different pre-existing objects and items scattered (albeit logically!) on the field. It is a rural area after all so scarecrows and windmills are to be expected, right? Fields of wheat and rye will catch your attention making you realize that you've indeed found yourself in a new place.
Designing levels with overall grand atmosphere and setting fitting them will also make it easier to find a best location for your particular building. While we know that you might design your building to be universally constructed in any location we also want to give you an extra possibility to tailor your buildings style to the location. This way, you may find yourself more inclined to build some particular structures in a certain level... or you might completely break the convention and build a totally town-like house in the middle of the peaceful village!
That's all from us this time - let us know if you would like to see more!
This time we have a treat for all of you - we'll be showcasing few screenshots from one of the levels we're working on!
We're making sure that our game will make you feel like a real builder. That is something that we've been really adamant about from the very beginning - and we still believe that phrase to be very appropriate for our development. We're heavily focused on the gameplay and we're doing our best to ensure that you will have an amazing fun with our game - this is something that stays unchangeable for us. We are however interested in showing you all intricacies of builder's work and one of those is taking in the environment where we will work our magic - it's something that you simply can't miss out on. After all - if you're a builder and you're stepping in a certain location for the first time... wouldn't you want to admire the scenery for at least a moment?
So much space... Think about the possibilities!
The countryside has welcomed us with a cloudy sky and it feels like it's going to rain. That however should not stop us from doing what we intended to do here. We'll be braving the weather conditions in order to make sure that either we or our customers (depending whether we're working on our own accord or are we currently working as per the contract!) are happy with the building we had in mind. With a location this big we can surely do some amazing magic and create a unique design.
Say hello to our friend, he's been eagerly waiting for your arrival!
Countryside should be full of interesting objects waiting for you to be discovered. That means extra opportunities for exploration that will surely make your job so much more fun. Scarecrow visible on the screenshot is only the beginning - there'll be much more picturesque areas waiting for you. And that is not all - you might want to traverse the area more than once as we plan on including some little surprises for you here and there - we hope you'll have as much fun finding those easter eggs as we had when we created them!
We'll be happy to showcase more of the level in the next devlog so remember to stay tuned in!
Our friends over at DRAGO entertainment have been working on a new game that is being released tomorrow, September 15th at 7pm CEST. As we are all part of one big developer family, we would like to spread this exciting news for a really deserving and fun game.
If you ever wanted to restore and run an old gas station on Route 66, that is your chance. Visit their Steam page below for more information:
As you've seen from our devlogs we have many ideas for locations and environments where you'll be able to build!
Recently we've been almost obssesed with finding interesting locations for our game. We know that some of you are more than simply interested in being able to build various buildings in different locations. We also know that sometimes the environment somewhat influence what kind of building you would like to create in a particular area. That is why we're on our way to make sure that everyone of you will find a place perfect for your idea!
While last time we've been covering the suburbs this time we're moving to a more deserted but not lonely area. The building that can be created here might be different and perhaps you will find much more freedom here - and as we realize that some of you are dreamers at heart we know that this particular freedom could be something that might enhance your experience quite a lot.
After all it is a completely different task and requires different mindset. When you're building another one of similar buildings in the city you require a certain set of skills and it's the other one when you're tasked with building something within a rural spacious area. We know that you'll have many ideas and that is why we'll also do our best to give you the tools necessary to fulfill your ambitions.
Leave us your opinion in the comment - where would you like to create your constructions? What is the place where you would like to build your very own dream creation? We're very interested in your very own fantasies!
Do note that concepts shown in the devlogs do not represent the final look of the game - we're improving daily and the final game will be even better than what we can show you right now! However if you liked what you saw and want to see more of our concepts - by all means let us know in the comments below!
Devlog #13 - ”Buildings in the vicinity - a look at the area #2”
Hello Builders!
We're coming back to the topic of the buildings you might see in different areas we're planning for the game.
Being a Builder can be a really fun job! If you like what you do you can not only feel satisfied by the effects of your work and seeing how slowly it takes the desired shape but also you might have the opportunity to visit various places. Some of them can even leave a lasting impression on you! Builder Simulator will strive to emulate that feeling by letting you do the work in a variety of conditions and settings. This time we'll show you a bit of what we're working on - the word is "suburbs"!
In this particular area, full of lovely houses and cozy buildings, you definitely don't want to break the overall image of the location. You will have to remember that building is never happening in a vacuum - there are other structures around your construction site and your building might either add to the overall quality of the place and make it even more lovely or can absolutely shatter the painstakingly created vision of other citizens. While it's a demanding job it might definitely offer a lot of satisfaction if we were to create a building that would be then called a "cherry on top" for this particular place.
Some ideas might come to you simply by observing the already existing buildings. What style were they build in, do they have any particular specific elements or symbols that you might want to pay attention to? It does not mean that you should simply copy the building and create its duplicate but inspiring yourself or finding a way to complement the region might help with your task.
Do note that concepts shown in the devlogs do not represent the final look of the game - we're improving daily and the final game will be even better than what we can show you right now! However if you liked what you saw and want to see more of our concepts - by all means let us know in the comments below!
Devlog #12 - ”The great small details of the world”
Hello Builders!
This time we'll talk about different houses you will be able to see in the game and how we approach creating them.
Have you played the demo of our game? If you haven't we strongly recommend doing so but that is not the point of this particular devlog. We bring up the demo because even in the very early demo we still were able to showcase our approach and let you see how important and vital is environment for us. We want you to build houses in a world that is not empty and void of life but in a place that you can feel is inhabitated and full of life. In the demo we've used several objects and buildings to that effect - you're able to check boat slowly drifting on the closeby waters, you could visit the neighbours' little house and even check their car! All of those little things are not random but are an effect of careful planning on our part.
Now, the houses that will be part of the environment deserves similar treatment and attention to details. And while we cover their exterior, as you can see on the screenshot above, we're not simply creating paper cut-out houses hollow in the inside.
In reality we think level or two deeper. It's not enough for us to create a visually pleasing model of a house - we also think about its interior, about its plan of rooms and corridors. We plan what different areas of the house will be designed for and what you can expect to see if you had the chance to peek inside. Those houses are all hosts for families and we do not want to forget about that.
In the future you will be the one to design great houses and homes that many people would love to live in. Make sure to plan accordingly as you will be the one who will ultimately decide whether your creation will be loved by everyone or scoffed at.
Do note that concepts shown in the devlogs do not represent the final look of the game - we're improving daily and the final game will be even better than what we can show you right now! However if you liked what you saw and want to see more of our concepts - by all means let us know in the comments below!
