Devblog #16

As BoE production is already quite advanced, I can show more and more materials that have not been published anywhere yet. Especially bigger buildings, much bigger than what is available in Prologue and was published in Steam and Youtube materials.

For the beginning, something a little bit bigger than an ordinary house. I won't tell you what exactly this building is - maybe you can guess in the comments?

Devblog #15

There will be 17 levels of house upgrades available in BoE. Below on the screens I present two of them, which have not been shown before.

Currently I'm finishing preparing all the buildings that will be available in the game, there are over 80 of them including walls, towers, gates etc. The progress of this particular production stage is about 90%.

Next will be the monuments, which at this moment are finished in 50%, this will be the most difficult stage of the whole production, due to the complexity of these buildings.
And in the meantime, I am slowly fixing the bugs you have reported, so the update is coming soon.

New game!

Last time on the news, I was talking about a surprise for you. This is the first of them, Builders of Greece, a game that is produced by a befriended, very talented studio and with which I cooperate - Creative Forge Games. I'm supporting the production of this game and I think you will be very satisfied with how it looks at the moment.

If you're interested in the topic of Ancient Greece, check out this game, ask questions on its forum, surely the team will be happy to answer all the questions, of course if this phase of development allows that.

As you can see, once again, we are paying great attention to detail and realism, as well as to an interesting campaign that tells about the amazing history of Greece.

If you like this production, please consider adding this game to your wishlist!

See you in the next updates!

Devblog #14

Recently I released a 0.15051A patch with the long-awaited option to save the game. Unfortunately the game is quite complicated and after loading the game there are various issues that I am currently working on.
If you are testing the game and you notice any bugs - contact me!

In the meantime - screenshots from mission 02 available soon in Prologue!

Some big news!

Hey! It's been a while since the previous post, and I have a lot of good news!

First of all, thank you all very much for your support in producing this game. There were a lot of comments, both positive and negative, I have a lot to think about and possibly reconsider in the next updates of the game.

I. The first and most important news is that there will be no early access.

The level of interest in this game surprised everyone, including me, so we decided to skip this stage and head straight for the release of the game, which will probably take place at the very beginning of 2021.

Why this date? Because I'm giving myself a lot of time to test this game, after my experience with Prologue I know that the longer this game is tested the better product I will be able to offer to you.

What does this mean in practice? A mini FAQ will certainly help here:

1. What about the Prologue, then?
The Prologue will be developed further, taking over the role of early access from the main game. A second free mission will appear in the near future, I will soon write about the details on the Prologue page.

2. Will Builders of Egypt have beta tests available for players?
Yes, there will be FREE (because there's no reason to pay the dev for the testing their game) closed beta tests of the main game, but this time I will take care of the key sending system so that no one will be missed and disadvantaged like in Prologue tests.

3. Will work on Builders of Egypt continue after the release of the game?
Yes, the support will be quite long, except of course bug fixes, I plan to add additional content, maybe some more missions, if we find out that there is something else to make the game more interesting.

II. The second news is that Builders of Egypt is not the only game that will be developed in Strategy Labs.

Although unfortunately it's still too early to reveal any details, but I'm sure you guess what the game might be or what this series of "Builders of ..." could be. It should be pointed out here that currently I'm only focused on the production of Builders of Egypt, so don't worry, the announcement of any other game will not affect BoE

III. Current status of Builders of Egypt production.

At this point I'm focusing on rewriting part of the game code and fixing bugs that were created by it. Latest updates can be found in "betas - > patch_test" in Prologue properties.

At the same time I'm designing next levels, at this point I have 17 missions completed, less than half of them. When I've finished working on the main game content, I'll start to regularly update the stuff that you can also see in the Prologue.

Prologue release date!

The prologue will be released on 2 March 2020

No more delays, no more "soon", no more "few days", no more excuses. So in 12 days from the announcement date you will all be able to play this game and nothing will stop you from doing so!

What is Prologue? It is a free version of Builders of Egypt containing the first mission from the main campaign, in which you will have to establish the future capital of Ancient Egypt. Below the FAQ:

  1. How long will Prologue be available?
    - Prologue has no time limit, it will be available forever.

  2. How long will it take to complete the mission?
    - Gameplay time depends on your experience in this type of games, you can assume that it will take on average ~one hour.

  3. Is there a time limit in the mission? Can I continue playing after completing the mission?
    - When the game announces victory, you will be asked if you want to continue playing, you can do so and play forever.

  4. Will the Prologue be further developed?
    - Yes, Prologue will be further developed in parallel with the development of Builders of Egypt

  5. Will there be any future missions or other content in Prologue?
    - I plan to add more content to Prologue in the future as an encouragement to support the main game.

  6. When will Builders of Egypt be released?
    - The release date is not fixed yet. It all depends on your feedback about Prologue. This game is created together with the players (I'm a player too), everyone has an influence on its final look.

  7. I want to share my feedback, how best to do it?
    - You can write your feedback on the Prologue forum on Steam, as well as contact me by email if you want to include some files.

Devblog #13

It's been a long time since the previous devblog

I was hoping to add a specific date of the Prologue release in the next one, but I don't know it yet. I'm sorry to all those who haven't replied yet, I spent the last three weeks on a furious making game updates, including searching for the most difficult to find bugs in the gameplay mechanics and I got thousands of messages. Literally thousands. I hope that with the release of Prologue I will be able to answer all your messages this time.

I know that Prologue was supposed to be here a long time ago, unfortunately the tests were getting longer, there were a lot of problems to solve, some things required rewriting the code so that some of the testers would not crash the game. These are difficult things to predict. However, I hope that the game you get will be worth your expectations.

The current status of the project is as follows:

On Wednesday the game build was sent again for review by the publisher's testers, some minor bugs were found, so it was sent again on Friday. I don't have a final verdict yet, but the initial ratings are rather positive, so I hope everything will be clear early this week.

By the way, I would like to thank all the testers who persistently tested the game for bugs, some of them being very creative in breaking the game, so I can rest assured that more serious bugs will not happen to anyone.

What next? The game will continue to be updated intensively, because we are only at the beginning of production so... I'm going back to work!

Weekly devblog #04

Dear Egyptians!

As you have noticed, the devblogs have stopped appearing.

There are different reasons for this situation, but the most important is a new idea for your interest in this game, which I am excited to announce to you. The idea is to release Builders of Egypt: Prologue completely for free, which will happen in a very short time on both Steam and GOG. The game will still be released soon in early access and I think Prologue will make this expectation more enjoyable.

What's the prologue gonna be?

This will be an initial mission, in which you will learn the basic mechanics of the game, as well as it will be a good opportunity to test the game behavior on your computers.

This will allow us to work more closely with each other as a community and I will definitely have a better chance to eliminate most of the problems that could occur with the release of early access.

I sincerely hope you like this idea and will give me your feedback on the development of the game. Your huge support is pushing this project forward, for which I am very grateful to you.

More information about the prologue will be available soon, I am currently making the last improvements, there are also various decisions to be made and some legal processes to be completed. So... until the next time!

Dear Egyptians,

This time I would like to show a preview of the progression of houses to level 5 out of 16 possible at all. In order for a building to be promoted, it is necessary to provide the required product to satisfy the needs of its inhabitants. At first, there aren't many of these needs, but with time they become more difficult and it can cause problems in planning the city, but that's what it's all about, isn't it?

With each level of the building, another type of interaction with the environment is unlocked. For example, people start going to the booth or shrines, and from a certain level there appears a new type of inhabitant - the scribes. What influence do they have on the city - you will find out about this in the upcoming devblogs!

Share your opinion with me on the steam forum, I'm waiting for you there. Thank you all for your support and see you next week!

Dear Egyptians,

This week's devblog is a bit shorter because of the translation of a huge amount of descriptions that can be read during the mission to learn more about the historical background.
In this devblog you will see the main menu, inspired by a specific painting, maybe someone will guess which one?

Next you will see the menu of the campaign, which is still in production, but it gives you a good overview of how it will look like. In the gameplay itself I focused on further development of the interface so there is an active pause - you can stop the game and continue building your city. In addition, there is also slowdown, which may be useful, because who knows - when a foreign army comes, it can be quite a chaos.
And of course a whole lot of improvements, building development like wood cutter or grenades (and fixes a lot of bugs).

And also important information about the raw materials in the game, because I often get questions about it. There is a lot of resources in the game, which the player mines, produces, imports, exports, sends as gifts, conquers on missions, receives as a reward or uses to satisfy the needs of its inhabitants or army and builds monuments with them. The biggest problem for the player will be the positive balance of the treasury, because only with money (bread and beer) he builds buildings, which may seem strange for people not connected with the game Pharaoh and others, but this is the idea of the game.

Thank you all for your support and see you next week! I invite you to share your opinions in the Steam forum, I have been reading them all!
