Buildings Have Feelings Too!

So what you making there?

Fun fact: Millies and Doffers were hired by linen mills across Ireland, and Belfast itself became so prolific that it was known worldwide as linenopolis by the 19th Century.

In Building Have Feelings Too you’ll need to find buildings and businesses that help the ever-changing industries as the Linen and heavy industry goes out of favour.

Behind the scenes of Buildings Have Feelings Too!?

We used a blend of 2D and 3D to create the final look in Buildings Have Feelings Too; combined with hand painted textures and a 2D cutout style of animation, this helped us to add character and bring the buildings to life.

Buildings Banter #1

Banking Redevelopment

Did you know the buildings featured in “Buildings Have Feelings Too!” are based on real buildings here in Belfast, Northern Ireland? This character here is just off the Royal Avenue. Built around 1930 it’s had a pretty active life until 2005 when the Bank inside closed. Since then it’s been abandoned!

Will your building have a similar fate? It has some pretty grand ambitions and is not the easiest character in the city to please. They’ll want you to make them a Tailors, a Hotel, a Restaurant, a Jewellers… anything a bit fancy. Unfortunately keeping up with the times isn’t its strong point.

Introducing the Fantastic Factories!

The Factories are out in force by the docks. The manufacturing industry is the perfect career path for a fledgling building to make a name for itself. But this close to the city centre they might need to be making future plans as the 21st century approaches.

Factories are great ways to create jobs and earn currency, but can cause pollution to the surrounding area. Create great businesses early on in the game to grow your city quickly before the others begin to notice.

Why not try redeveloping the old docks into a shopper's paradise?

One of the districts featured in Buildings Have Feelings Too! is the dockside – known to the premises that live there as Old Pete. Once a thriving port, the now dilapidated and derelict docks are certainly in need of some tender TLC. Our hero, the Halfway Hotel, has plans to redevelop the area into a magnet for consumers.

Construct light entertainment and retail outlets and watch the people and money flood in - that’s the plan.

Of course, things are never that simple. The lofty high-end jewellery store is already complaining that he’s sat next to the ironmongers, and to make matters worse his low-rent neighbour is an old repurposed chimney stack! It was never going to be easy!

It's a city building sim - but not as you know it!

Sim City, Cities Skylines, Tropico... You think you've played all the great city building games, right?

WRONG! - You haven't played Buildings Have Feelings Too! The team at Blackstaff Games have looked at this popular genre and taken a different approach. Unlike other city simulations, Buildings Have Feelings Too! focuses on the characters of the buildings using people and their skills as a prime currency. The end result being a game that feels familiar yet strangely different.

If you're heading out to Boston, MA to attend PAX East (March 28th-31st) then be sure to visit us on booth #20043 where you'll be able to get hands on with Buildings Have Feelings Too!
