Burst Drive is out!
Release Announcement - Hello 1.0
It is finally done!
A challenging space shooter with 50 levels that get harder as you advance to the next loop. Take control of a space fighter, upgrade your ship and blast away!
Here is a short taste of the single-player, late-game experience.[previewyoutube="OETHPcEXLRY;full"]
About the development
I am a solo developer and I have been working on this side project of mine for quite some time now. The development began with an inspiration from Warblade (an amazing classic) and took off from there. I wanted to create a small space shooter that could be played from the same keyboard by two people. After achieving that, I kept adding weapons, experimented with different mechanics and it shaped into the game you see now.
The additions started to become a nuisance rather than fun. It made the game a little hard to get into by introducing a learning curve. So I added gamepad support and mouse control (for one of the players). Added a dash mechanic with upgrades and reworked some of the levels and here we are. A top-down space shooter with a non-twin stick setup.
Special thanks to Taylan for most of the UI and my brother for the voice recordings. :)
In the future
I have ideas and feedback about what could be added to the game. These include more items/aliens and a new game mode. But it all depends on how well the game is received. I will post updates if there are any new additions or future plans.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy Burst Drive. If you've played it, please let me know what you think about it.
