Bzzzt - NEXT FEST Broadcast

BZZZT game is taking part in the Steam Next Fest event this week together with other amazing incoming games and will be holding a developer stream with rare footage of the non-public game version!!!

I will be playing a game together with my friend & publisher, and we will try to beat some time challenges in demo stages and never-before-seen stages as well!

We'll also be doing a live Q&A. Hope to see you there!!!

Dev Log 2/23

Maybe you already know that, but the BZZZT game is being developed by one humble artist (me) and one excellent music composer, Martin Linda.

With this project, I wanted to pay tribute to all the much-loved games from the '80s, which I grew on, and they were the main reason I started making games.

So, one day I said to myself: "Wouldn't it be cool to time travel back to the golden era of arcade games and enjoy it again?"

And that day, my indie journey started! It was the beginning of BZZZT development!!!

And because there isn't an army of community managers behind me, I am sharing my solo-dev progress across social media alone. You can find me & my pixel art together with the Bzzzt development on the following platforms:

A few words about the Bzzzt game's dev progress:


I am finalizing the animations of the enemies right now. I would like to have everything animated smoothly with clearly visible when traps and enemies are going to hit a player.

I have finalized all environment art, and all player abilities are already implemented.

And most importantly, together with Martin Linda, the Bzzzt music composer, we are starting to put together the sound design - it means no more placeholders in a game!!!

We are doing everything possible to release the game in the first half of the year 2023.

Czech&Slovak Games Week is running and Bzzzt game is there with a new trailer!

Hello, gamers!
Czech&Slovak Games Week is here again!!! Check it out because there are listed super great games made in the country I am from, and many of them are made by my former colleagues.

Together with that, I am happy to announce the Bzzzt game is there as well, with a world premiere trailer showing new environments and mechanics.

As a bonus, I have recorded a small introduction about Bzzzt - only for the bravest watchers! :)

Indie Game Expo 2022 Awards for Bzzzt game.

Indie Game Expo 2022 + Game Developers Session is over and I am happy to announce the Bzzzt game won 2 awards out of 6 - Best Game Design and Indie Community Vote Award!!!

I was presenting there a very special first-time-seen version with unlocked abilities and it was a huge success.



My gratulations go to all other indie games presented there during the last two days. And I would love to thank all of you for helping me to make the game better, more balanced and polished!!!



Demo Update

List of fixes & improvements:

  • Support of 6 languages: English, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese-BR, Czech.
  • Native support of new controllers: Xbox, PS4/PS5, SteamDeck etc.
  • Smoother camera and scrolling.
  • Added a few new music tracks to the demo. The demo now includes 5 tracks.


Note - there are still the same levels, but a lot of fixes have been made there.

First World Boss Fight Preview

Designing boss fights when the player does not have any weapons could be quite challenging. How I dealt with that can be visible in this video.

A lot of people asked me to share with them some info about the Bzzzt game and I was trying to be as mysterious as possible - it was caused mainly because I did not want to ruin players' first impressions from playing the full game - after the release 🙂

But maybe I can uncover a few, not story-related details. So I have decided to write down a short summary of what I feel the Bzzzt game is about:

The game is highly inspired by the late '80s when I started to make games. But I did not want to make it super retro - I just want to create something that will reflect that era and how we remember it nowadays (with rainbow glasses) 🙂

Maybe the game will be shorter - only 50 levels - but I want to have it really polished - from precise controls to great-looking art and animations. And shorter means I am trying to make it accessible to not skilled players as well as for players who love games like Super Meat Boy or Celeste - for them, there are prepared some more challenging modes and records to achieve - I feel, with that the game has really strong replayability value. So it is possible to finish the game in 3 hours, but to collect all the trophies players will need to invest much more time into that.

The game is not about killing enemies. It means the player has no weapons. Your main goal is "just" to reach an exit in every room while jumping over the traps and enemies.

I know that only jumping does not stand too long to be fun so I have added there 5 special abilities on top of that - double jump, dash, sliding on magnetic walls, swimming and transferring a robotic body into an energy form. I will be sharing videos illustrating all game features soon.

As I said at the beginning I would not talk about the story for now because I feel it is really strong and I don't want to make some unnecessary spoilers.

Enhanced Demo Update

Major features:



  • Saving the game is now connected with the Steam Cloud system.

  • You can pick a difficulty - EASY, NORMAL and INSANE (with newly implemented permadeath feature).

  • Enhanced preloading system together with implemented physics interpolation for smoother movement without any lags up to 200 FPS (dependent on your monitor capabilities).

  • Better pixel-perfect algorithms.

  • Tweaked levels.

  • Added more sounds.

  • Fixed various bugs.
