As we've said, this is more than a patch, this is some major functionality.

The Big Two:

  1. Season Mode: which has been asked for since day 1.
  2. Hybrid American Rules: which has been asked for by many people who want to play around with American rules on a Canadian size field.

Canadian Football 2017

Hi everyone. Welcome to our Steam home for Canadian Football 2017. The first in what Canuck Play hopes to be an annual iterative title.

A NOTE ABOUT SPECIFICATIONS

Memory.
When coming up with the minimum system requirements for this title, one thing that we tried to account for was the OS the game runs on. This title is designed around Windows10 (although it works perfectly well on Windows7). The system specifications indicate 8GB and 16GB minimum and recommended requirements respectively.

The game itself doesn’t actually require this. The game really uses less than 1GB. But it’s not just about the game. We’ve recommended 8 and 16 to also account for the OS itself. You should be perfectly fine to run the game at 4GB, or probably even 2GB. But with these the OS itself is probably not very happy, and it’s going to want to do things in the background that take up a lot of memory. Which is why we do suggested something higher.

Hopefully that makes sense.

DirectX 11.
The game is designed around DirectX 11. The various shaders for grass, reflections, normal mapping, etc… are all coded for DirectX 11. But some machines don’t play well with DX11, so there is an option to run the game in DirectX9 mode. This will effect a couple of things; you will not get 3D grass (the playing field will be a flat image), you will not get the softer DX11 lighting, you will get some graphical artifacts for distance objects. These are just side effects of using DX9 and not something we can address, but it will allow the game to run smoothly on machines with specifications lower than indicated (even laptops with intel graphics cards).

Controllers.
This game is a direct port of the XBox One version of the game. As such most of the game’s front end, and all of the on-field game play works only with a game controller. An XBox 360 Controller for Windows is recommended, and it’s also possible to use XBox One Controllers (there’s a set up guide here -> http://support.xbox.com/en-CA/xbox-on-windows/accessories/connect-xbox-one-controller-to-pc ). Other controllers may work if you go through the input mapping process, but they’re not recommended and we have not tested them.

Unlike the Console edition of the title, the PC edition includes a play designer. This is available from the main menu and there’s no controller input for this feature, the UI of the play designer is mouse and keyboard based.

So again, this is the first in what we hope to make a line of titles and we hope you have a bit of fun playing the 3 down game.
