New Build - Alpha 0.8.87 (1590) - Rework of the King
Thanks for all the feedback so far everyone, it’s been really helpful! This week's build has some big new features as well as some significant tuning changes (including the king).
As always, restart steam to force Cannon Brawl to update and report any bugs or issues you find and I'll get them fixed as soon as I can!
Improvements:
Added unranked multiplayer mode. You have a separate, hidden ELO for unranked matchmaking which does not affect your ranked ELO or position on the leaderboards. Because our playerbase is small right now, ranked and unranked players will be matched together. The ranked player’s position on the leaderboards will change based on a win/loss while the unranked player’s leaderboard position will be unaffected. This is only temporary, once we have more people online we’ll separate ranked and unranked completely. Unranked should give people the opportunity to try out different strategies without sacrificing leaderboard position.
Added blind matchmaking. To prevent match dodging, you will not know who your opponent is until the match starts.
Added in game chat, press ‘t’ to talk to your opponent during the game and match results screen. Commands supported are /mute and /unmute.
Added quit button on main menu.
Adjusted ELO gain and drop rates (k-factor) to be a bit less for players who have played more games
Fixes:
Fixed accelerators and building platforms able to erroneously capture two mines at once on seaside and forest
Bank now retargets if you already own the building it’s pointing to.
Fix bug where selling a bank on gold mine would yield 7 extra gold.
Drill tower shots now kill demolishers
Fixed a couple more de-sync cases
Tuning:
Reduced Laser cooldown to 14 from 18
Reduced Mountain Maker cost to 50 from 55
Changed King power to start with the shield off and every 30 seconds one shield ring is added, stacking up to 3 times.
Decreased Minionette’s frost power cooldown to 25 seconds from 30 seconds
Minonette’s power now activates only when you stop moving, rather than on first contact
Increased Cannon Tower cost to 45 from 40
Adjusted hitbox on drill tower to be taller
Reset cooldown on target building when the bribe is completed
New Build - Alpha 0.8.86 (1580)
We’re hard at work on getting some of the bigger features ready for you guys but, in the meantime I’ve pushed a fixes and tuning build, cleaning up some of the map issues you guys have found and most notably, tuning the repair center down. We're aiming for a weekly build update, so be sure to check back often!
Fixes:
Fixed crash on campaign missions and final boss
Fixed crash when older versions were getting matched with newer version
Fixed issue where players on the gamepad could start a match without choosing all their buildings
Fixed rare crash on surrendering and rare crash on settings menu with exotic input devices
Make quick match sound and battle ready sound play through normal sfx volume setting
Fix Sourthern Coast so that red and blue have the same amount of build spots.
Fix the Southern Coast to not allow for odd balloon placement after capturing diamond mine
Fix bug where territory balloons can be built in buried diamond mines
Fix forest map where it wasn’t clear territory balloon would access two mines at once
Improvements:
Added a timer for game time
The names of both players in battle is now shown at the bottom of the screen
Tuning:
Reduced repair center repair rates to 10/14/18 from 13/15/18
Reduced repair center life to 15/20/25 from 20/22/25
Increased repair center cooldown to 25 from 24
Changed repair center costs to 45/45/60 from 45/50/70
Decreased shield cooldown from 33 to 30
Increased speed of frost shot
Reduced initial cost of frost tower to 50 from 60
Reduced initial cost of laser tower to 55 from 60

New Build - Alpha 0.8.85 (1570)
Hope you guys had a good weekend, I spent mine fixing de-sync bugs and making some other small improvements.
The new build is up, restart steam to force Cannon Brawl to update. As always report any issues in our Bugs and Support sub forum!
General Fixes:
Fixed a multitude of cases where an online multiplayer match could become de-synced
Fixed a case were both players would start on red side, causing strange behavior
Fixed bug where after 120 seconds, blue player would gain a small autogold advantage over red player
Fixed bug where it was possible for demolishers from different players to become ‘stuck’ to each other
Fixed issue where player build version was not sent over in some cases
Fixed bugs where drills could freeze in the air after hitting shields
Fixed another case of the zombie lobby
Fixed leaderboard scrolling
New Improvements:
Moved Skirmish and Local Multiplayer out to main menu. Not technically a new feature since Cannon Brawl has always had local multiplayer vs a friend/AI, but now it’s more visible.
Build menu always starts on first option, to help with muscle memory selection
Changed Seaside 2 such that the top diamond mine is now in a valley shape
You can now skip XP countdown with spacebar
Gameplay Tuning:
Hot Patch - Build Notes 0.8.83 (1560)
Looks like a crash was happening this morning after multiplayer matches because our stats server was responding slowly. This has just now been fixed, along with a bunch of other issues.
I pushed this one out faster than normal because of the game breaking stats crash, so I didn't get to test as much internally as I normally would. Let me know about any and all issues in our Bugs and Support forum!
General Fixes:
Fixed crash at end of game if it couldn’t upload stats
Fixed crash if your desktop resolution was 1366x768
More crash fixes in campaign, local multiplayer, and with a few buildings
If Cannon Brawl crashes on load, if you run it again it will automatically switch to ‘old graphics card mode’.
Fixed crash if you had a sound device disabled
Fix volume increasing on settings UI menu after closing it
Gameplay Fixes:
Made it less likely to get matched against the same person if they drop out before the battle begins
Attempt fix on issue where it was possible to join a ‘zombie lobby’ in which you were matched with someone who was in a lobby but no longer playing.
Drills can now pop territory balloons consistently
Fixed issue where upgrading during a bribe switch your target to the enemy HQ rather than the intended target.
Added a sound effect to notify you when a game has started
Warhead can now be repaired in the air by the prince and repair center
Tuning:
Drill Tower life increased from 12/15/20 to 15/20/25
Decreased missile tower life from 20/25/30 to 15/20/25
New Build - Alpha 0.8.82 (1550)
Thanks for all the feedback and bug reports everyone. I uploaded a build today to fix some of the issues.
Restart Steam to force Cannon Brawl to update, you won’t be able to quick match with people who are running the new build until you.
Fixes:
Fixed crashes on main menu and in various campaign missions
Fixed settings related crashes
Quitting the game mid match now counts as a surrender and will self destruct the HQ of the person who surrendered. The victorious player will gain ELO, the surrendering player will lose elo. If you hard disconnect by closing the game or unplugging your internet connection, this will still count as a surrender for you and a victory for the other player.
Fixed xp points being awarded strangely in Friend Invite mode
Fixed issue where Minionette and the build platform were sometimes not unlocked after beating the campaign
Added the option to select which input device Cannon Brawl uses for gamepads. For those of you having trouble with using the keyboard during gameplay, go to Settings and change Gamepad 1 and Gamepad 2 to either “none” or the device you want to use as a gamepad.
Fixed bug where missiles were not downgraded when passing through shields
Fixed bug where scoring the exact time on a campaign mission wouldn’t give you the medal
Tuning:
Accelerator no longer increases the gold rate of Banks and Mine
HQ takes 50% less fall damage
Increased King’s shield recharge from 10s to 15s and fixed a bug where it could recharge in 1s
