Our first patch is available now and contains a bunch of fixes plus some new stuff for you to check out. If you thought Hard more was for babies wait until you get a load of Impossible, the newly added difficulty level! On the other end of the spectrum we've made Easy and Medium a little easier to handle (particularly Easy, where enemies now have a random chance to drop loot crates filled with Ship Bits).
- On "Easy" difficulty, enemies may drop chests containing Ship Bits
- New "Impossible" difficulty, for those who want an even bigger challenge. Added an achievement for beating it too!
- Made it easier to unlock some of the early starter kits
- A variety of tweaks to King Kevin's traps
- Fixed issues with turrets' stun behavior, including a bug where the sound effect would persist
- Reduced range of MiniBoom Rockets
- Fixed a tuning error with RipSaw in which it was absurdly powerful at later levels
- Reduced volume of some overly loud sound effects (mine beeping, Ship Bit healing)
- Moved position of "Jump Now" button so that it doesn't get in your way so much

Are you new to Captain Forever Remix? Let Northernlion, Lovely Momo, and Retromation explain it:
- We're happy to finally launch the finished game out of Early Access! Thanks to all players for your support and feedback.
- King Kevin has laid traps across the solar system for you to run into.
- You might also find health pickups or treasure chests containing spare ship bits!
- We've added 30 Steam Achievements!
- For more variety, we've added 6 background music tracks.
- If you like the music, you can now buy the soundtrack.
- Variant character portraits for Kevin and Captain Forever/Natalie will appear during conversations.
- Kevin's brought a few new Krusaders into the fray!
- The starter kits have been overhauled. Their contents have changed, as have their unlock requirements.
- You can now select from easy, medium, and hard difficulty levels. Difficulty level affects enemy aggressiveness, the toughness of King Kevin's traps, and the amount of time you get to build after each stage.
- There's a new power bulkhead: "Build Time." If attached, you'll get bonus time to rebuild when you complete a stage.
- Only ship bits that are attached to your ship will travel with you when you jump to the next stage.
- For better balance, weapon tuning has been tweaked.
- Lots of polish and bugfixing to get the game ready for full release!

Captain Forever Remix - Preparing for Launch
Hey gang! It's been a while. Things have been quiet but that's because we're prepping for our launch out of Early Access and boy oh boy is it gonna be a doozy. We don't want to spoil all the loveliness that's headed your way, but if you've been out of the loop and are wondering what's coming with the launch version, it's time to start paying attention again ne....neh...N...NEH...NOW! NOW! DO IT!
More news real soon, when we're not too busy cramming a dangerous amount of new stuff into the game.
Update #8 - Prettier Backgrounds and Steam Workshop!
Hey gang, update #8 is out NOW and we've got bunch of news to share about the rest of the project!
So what's in this update?
First up, we focused on improving ship sharing by adding Steam Workshop support. Sharing ships was a much beloved part of the original Captain Forever games, and so with Remix we wanted to make it easier than ever to share your ships with your friends and the community. So go check out the Workshop: we’ve already shared a bunch of awesome ships for you to check out!
Next: the game looks about 3000% better now (this is accurate. I did the math). There’s been a massive overhaul of all of our foreground and background effects. The stars will now remind you of those glow-in-the-dark stickers you had on your bedroom ceiling as a kid, and our nebulas are more vivid and varied (sometimes they look crispy, or creamy, or crunchy). But enough words! A picture is worth a thousand words, and a video is worth roughly 6 million. I’m too lazy to write those words so here’s a video:

So what’s next for the project? The next update marks our exit from Steam Early Access. That’s right; we’re exiting Steam Early Access when we put out update #9, which will be the 1.0 version of Captain Forever Remix. We’re aiming to do that early next year, which means there’s going to be a bit more time than usual between now and the next update. But it’ll be worth it. We’re going to be hard at work on polish, bug fixing, stability, and performance. We’d love to throw in a surprise or two as well.
That means that if you’re one of our beloved Early Access players, now is the time to get in any last bits of feedback you have about the game. In particular we want to hear about your experience with the new Workshop ship-sharing stuff, so go check that out and show us your best ships!
Thanks everyone! Read on below for our full release notes and some instructions from Brian about how to use the Workshop and preserve your old ship favorites.

Notes on Sandbox in Update #8
Sharing your Sandbox ships to Steam Workshop is an experimental new feature in this release. We need your help in making this feature robust, bug-free, and easy-to-use. Please post in the forums to let us know of any issues that you run into!
Did your Favorite ships disappear from the game? Never fear--they’re still there, just hiding. As part of this update, we had to change the disk location of your Favorites. In order for the game to see the Favorites you’ve previously saved, please move the contents of your "Favorites" folder as follows:
On Windows:
Old location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\cap4ever\cap4ever_Data\ShipData\Favorites
New location: C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Pixelsaurus Games\Captain Forever Remix\Favorites
On Mac:
Old location: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/cap4ever/cap4ever.app/Contents/ShipData/Favorites
New location: ~/Library/Application Support/Pixelsaurus Games/Captain Forever Remix/Favorites
On Linux:
Old location: ~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/cap4ever/cap4ever_Data/ShipData/Favorites
New location: ~/.config/unity3d/Pixelsaurus Games/Captain Forever Remix/Favorites
Thanks for understanding and for helping us get Captain Forever Remix ready for a full release!
-Brian
Update #7: Captain Forever in the Cloud!
By popular demand: we now support saving to Steam Cloud! This means that your game progress, ship history, and favorite ships should automatically sync between any same-platform computers where you play Captain Forever Remix.
To support Steam Cloud saves, we had to monkey with the save game system a bit. We believe that any progress you made prior to this update should carry over to the new system without issue!
If you have past progress that somehow isn't carrying over, let us know and we'll attempt to fix it! (We're pretty sure it's still there...just hiding, not gone forever.) We want to make sure this system is working robustly, so holler to let us know how we did!
In this update, we've also remixed the user interface to fit better with the style we're going for. We're also displaying some new stats for each starter kit: the furthest stage you've reached and how many times you've completed the game with that kit...more of that to come!
Update #6: PAX Prime Prep Polish
Hey folks! As previously mentioned, we're super-excited to bring Captain Forever Remix to Indie Megabooth at PAX Prime 2015 on August 28-31, 2015. To prepare for this, we've been focusing on bug-fixing and polish. We decided to bundle up some of those fixes for this month's update...here they are!
Added Vsync option
Clarified the presentation of Power Bulkheads throughout the UI
New "Skip to next round" cheat in Sandbox Mode
Projectiles fade visually after being fired
Reduced damage and health of MegaBoom Rockets
Cutter Beam and RipSaw weapons can now damage shields
Fixed bug where Repair Bulkhead visual effects weren't playing properly
Fixed bug where MegaBoom Rockets could collide with shields on the same ship
Fixed bug where cash shows up during Starter Kit selection
We'll continue to make small tweaks like these until our demo at PAX. After that, we've got much bigger changes planned! Stay tuned, and thanks for playing.
Come say hi at PAX!

We'll be at the PAX Indie Megabooth later this month! Come say hi and build rad spaceships!

Ship Bits Mega Pak is out NOW!
The Ship Bits Mega Pak update is out now! It's never been a better time to jump into Captain Forever Remix! Check out our trailer for the update!
https://youtu.be/V5L6PhLqjgk
We're absolutely psyched about this update and it's our biggest one yet. Thanks so much for joining us during Ship Bits Mega Week - Brian and I had a blast revealing all of the stuff we've been working on. It's a lot of stuff. Let's review, shall we?
Day 1: the SCATTERBLASTER and MEGABOOM ROCKET!
On Day 1 we announced the SCATTERBLASTER! Create bullet hell for your enemies!
And the MEGABOOM ROCKET! You'll only need one, but six is more fun!
Day 2: the Mine Popper and Extra-Long Repair Bulkheads
What sound does a mine make when it gets launched into space? "POP!"
What about when it explodes? "POP!"
It's the Mine Popper!
Repair bulkheads now come in extra-long varieties, and they'll appear every time you play (along with Bubble Shields!). Keep your spaceship ship-shaped at all times!
Day 3: Jumbo Bulkhead Lite and DRAGON BREATH!
On Day 3 we announced something really big: the Jumbo Bulkhead Lite!
And then something really hot and dragon-ish: the DRAGON BREATH! You don’t *have* to attach these to a ship that’s shaped like a dragon, but it doesn’t hurt!
Day 4: Power Bulkheads!
It's a pretty huge update so far right? Then we kept going. On Saturday we revealed the biggest game-changer yet: Power Bulkheads.
These are basically a complete overhaul of the old "upgrades" system.
Each one gives you a boost for unique special powers. So for example “Knockout” gives you the chance to stun your enemies when you damage them, and having more “Knockout” bulkheads on your ship will increase the chance for that to happen.
Power Bulkheads are carried by high-level enemies, so you’ll want to be extra careful picking their ships apart so that you don’t destroy them during the battle.
The update is available now. Jump back into the game if you haven't played in a while, and tell your friends about us!
Thanks again for following Ship Bits Mega Week and we hope you enjoy all these new toys.
