Car Trader Simulator Devlog #51 - "More about special events!"
Hello Car Traders!
Many days ago we have talked with you about random game events - a special little occurrences in the daily life of car traders that spice them up. We would like to revisit it for a while.
As we have said previously there will be many random events in the game that will make each playthrough of the game a little bit different ensuring a replayability of the game. Random game events might be strictly positive, negative or they can be mixed - offering a little bit of advantage here, and a little bit of disadvantage there. The choice is ultimately yours.
Positive game events are especially fun since they provide you with an opportunity to gain something. What you'll be gaining will differ from event to another event but for the sake of example let's say that it's not just the cash that you'll get this way...
Negative game events often have you face some problematic situation and will make sure to add that little extra spice for you. There's nothing more horrifying when you're already barely meeting ends and then it turns out that your cars were stolen or your garage burnt down... Maybe it's time for a loan?
Mixed events combine both of those two aspects often leaving you with a choice where you'll be forced to make some compromises. See the example below - as you can see every choice brings something positive and negative to the table and depending on your needs and preferences you should make an appropriate choice.
While very similar you need to differentiate between random game events and consequences of your choices. Let's say that you have sold a car without fixing or checking it altogether, you have lied to your customer saying it's absolutely fine and it does not require additional fixes. Don't be surprised if that customer calls you later to yell at you for lying! However that is not a random game event - it is merely a consequence of your actions.
Remember that at the start of the game you can select how frequently random events will appear in the game!

Sometimes when you're working through your day a certain opportunities tend to arise out in the city and if you're lucky to be near them you might profit from them! Let's talk about boosters!
There are three types of boosters in the game that you can collect and each of them grants you a different boon. You can see them on the city map indicated by a small symbol with an "x" in it. As boosters are different and grant different benefits they also differ in colour. In order to collect them - simply send any of your employees to the place where they appeared.
This one is an experience booster - this particular little fellow grants the employee who picked him up a small boost in the experience he owns. You can think about it as being in the right place and a right moment to learn something new and useful. Its colour is yellow (though some would argue it's orange).
Another one of the boosters - the green one - is the reputation booster. If you pick it up your company will receive a boost in their reputation, as per its name. In this particular case we like to think that whoever picked it up managed to do something grand or important while working their shift and through that managed to change our reputation positively.
The last one of the boosters is called lawfulness boosters and it's proudly represented by a blue icon. In case of this booster, were we to pick it up, we would enjoy a small gain in our lawfulness score. Perhaps we aided Police at that time or help prevent theft from a local store? Either way after picking it up Police might see us in a better light.
Boosters are a great way to add some changes to your gameplay so remember to pick them up from time to time!

Car Trader Simulator Devlog #48 - "I'll fix it in a second!"
Hello Car Traders!
Listen, man! I've got a perfect car for you! It's one of the new models, only few of them on the market. There's just one thing... it's not working completely fine... but you can take care of it, right?
Mechanics are very important people for car industry and any aspiring car trader should have at least few of them in their ranks. Without mechanics any car you get that is at least a little damaged will stay that way and surely that fact will got reflected on the face of your clients when they spot the fault.
Mechanics work as you tell them - they can either repair the whole car or just some parts of it - depending on how much you want to invest in the whole fixing business. As seen in the screenshot above you can make a selection regarding particular elements of the car that you would like to fix. If you prefer to sell some of your cars not in an entirely perfect condition - that is also a choice you can make. Maybe the customer will simply not ask and forget to check?
Mechanics are also invaluable if you would prefer to fix all cars but without spending a dime on it. As you have some contacts on local scrapyards you can send your mechanics there to check for any still working and usable components and use that scrap to repair the cars without using any of your hard earned cash. Make sure to find some time and send them to a scrapyard from time to time.
Mechanics are your best friends! Take care of them and they will take care of you!

What is a mechanic without his wrench and tools? What is a thief without lockpicks? What is a driver without a car or a truck? In this devlog we will talk about equipment available for our employees!
After hiring employees for your fledling car trading empire you will need to remember one thing - only that much can be achieved by your workers alone without proper equipment.
There is no use getting angry with your thief for not outrunning police cars if he has no navigation system. A mechanic equipped with a whole toolset will achieve much more than one without them. That is why you might want to equip your employees with appropriate tools.
That of course means that you will have to pay for additional equipment but benefits can be easily seen in the appropriate menu (above you can see some of the tools you can buy for your drivers, on screenshots below you will have the chance to check equipment for other employees). Remember - you can buy equipment on the very same window where you hire your employees.
You quickly will be able to see the effect those tools will have on your workers. For example - your mechanic equipped with a big tool box will be quite faster with all repairs thus you will have quicker access to your cars and that $1500 you spent on the equipment will be back very soon!
While some of the tools are really expensive they are also designed in a way to give you a huge boon to your work. Imagine - you only have to buy the three bed tow truck once and you will be able to transport three cars with one driver all the time. Unless they get into accident, of course... but let's not talk about that!
Remember to drag and drop the equipment on the appropriate employee for them to equip it!

In the last devlog we talked a bit about the usage of thieves and benefits you can receive when you use them correctly. But what if they get caught?
If you're very mindful of how you use your thieves it is quite possible that you will avoid being detected and caught. However police in the city can be very unpredictable and fast. What you thought is a great place to perform your not-so-legal activities might just turn out to be swarming with police officers!
If your thief gets caught they are naturally send to prison and you lose some points on your lawfulness meter. Fortunately - that is not the end of the story for them as you can help them get out of the prison by bribing your way to their freedom. With appropriate amount of money a lot can be achieved and thief's name can be cleared of all charges. That is... if you decide to use your money.
Yet you might not always have the appropriate amount of cash or perhaps the thief that got caught has been known to get caught so often that you are simply fed up with him. If you decide to not pay for their crimes after some time the thief will get sentenced - this time meaning a very real end of his story.
Make sure that you are not letting an experienced thief rot away in prison!

Car Trader Simulator Devlog #43 - "Help! It's a thief!"
Hello Car Traders!
As you already know you have many different employees waiting for an opportunity to work for your company. Among them you will find some shady but very efficient individuals - thieves!
Thieves can work in areas where normal rules do not apply!
While you can play the game without using thieves they might make the game a little bit easier although using them is tricky. After hiring a thief they will first need to be sent on a patrol within the streets of the city.
When the opportunity arises they will be able to help themselves to a car of an unlucky fellow who perhaps forgot to take care of safety of his own car.
Taking the car is just the beginning though! Now you have to safely navigate the thief to one of your garages... Don't think it will be easy! Police might wait for you right at the end of that narrow alley or might surround you the moment you feel safe...
Appropriate usage of your thieves might help you out a lot with the business but it will also test you, remember that!
