Campaigns Update

We wanted to alert players that when the Monster Island expansion is released in late July, campaign mode will be removed from game. We feel this aspect of the game is not living up to our quality standards, and would rather focus exclusively on making multiplayer mode the absolute best it can be. Players will have until the release day in July to finish their existing campaigns and collect their rewards!

Deck Building Update

We are happy to announce that with the Monster Island update in July comes an important upgrade to our deck building mechanics. We are going to expand the flexibility and potential synergy of decks with a few key changes: first, decks will contain more cards! Monster Island decks will contain 40 cards each, and allow up to 3 of each card. Secondly, we are dropping all special restrictions on legendary cards: legendaries will be allowed 3 of a kind, and they will be searchable and craftable as well!

Although this change does not release for a few months, we are giving players the opportunity to start preparing for it right now! As of this moment, your card collection will allow you to create and keep up to 3 copies of each card, including legendary cards! This means you can start crafting legendaries right away! Please keep in mind when crafting that some legacy cards will be unavailable for ranked play after the Monster Island expansion, and will furthermore not be available to craft or pull after that release. Expansion Announcement: Monster Island!

Hey everyone! We are excited to announce the next expansion for Cards and Castles: Return to Monster Island! Here are the details:

-Monster Island is due to release mid-July.

-The expansion will introduce many new mechanics such as Rally, Flying, and True Stealth, featuring at least 100 new cards!

-With the release of Monster Island, many cards from sets before Age of Dragons will be rotated out of Ranked play. This will allow us to balance new cards correctly and design a compelling meta-game without being hamstrung by interactions from legacy cards, and this way we will not have to constantly nerf or change older cards to fit with new designs.

-Replays are being added for high ranked matches! There will be a place to go in-game for everybody to watch battles between the top players in the game. Watch and learn top strategies from the best, OR work your way to the top and show off in front of the entire C&C community!

The Age of Dragons is Here!

The Age of Dragons expansion set has launched! These 50 new cards will be immediately available for crafting and will drop in all standard booster packs alongside the previous sets. A new card pack with ONLY Age of Dragons cards is now available for silver points as well! Check the cards list and click the dragon-icon filter to peruse all the awesome new cards!

Many gameplay balance and general improvements have launched alongside this patch as well. Enjoy these comprehensive patch notes!


- TOURNAMENT MODE: Tournament mode's price has been reduced to 3000 CP! New tournaments started at this price will also use a new, much more random prize and reward table!

GLOBAL MECHANICS

- CHANGED CARDS MECHANIC: Cards that were changed with a patch can now be traded in for full shards for 7 days immediately following the change.

- GOLD: It is no longer possible to ever exceed 10 gold. If a spell would cause you to immediately exceed this limit (e.g. Merchant's Favor at 9g+), you draw a card instead.

- LIGHTNING: Chain lightning is no longer considered part of the unit's attack; instead, lightning is now a triggered spell that deals normal damage after the attack (similar to School of Pyromancy). The main benefit of this is that the damage display for lightning will be separated from the attack value, making it more clear what is happening. Many combo interactions with lightning effects will no longer work, while new combos will now be possible.


CARD CHANGES


MOMENTUM: Changed completely. 1g, give a unit with 4 movement or more +2 attack and +2 health.

SMUGGLING RING: 0g, gain 1 gold plus 1 gold for each enemy unit. This card can be traded for its full shard value for a limited time after this release.

THE RAT KING: Stats reduced to 2/3, but he now creates rats any time he deals damage (including retaliation).

ALPHA STRIKE: Instead of returning to your hand indefinitely, it now only returns to your hand once. Cost reduced to 2.

KUNAI: Now 2 gold for 2 damage, regain the card ONCE if it kills an enemy.

SHIELD OF THE PROTECTOR: Effect reduced to +3 health.

WILL OF THE MARTYR: Due to stronger interactions with new age of dragons cards, the buff effect reduced from +2/+2 to +1/+1

SCOUT: HP reduced to 4.

EARTH KNIGHT: HP increased to 9.

SHIELD KNIGHT: Changed to a 3/6 with 2 movement, so that new players have more variety in unit move speed.



In order to curb the ability of players to quickly cycle through their deck, the number of very cheap cards with "draw a card" attached has been reduced. The following changes were made:

PILLAR OF ANNOYANCE: Now 0g, no longer draws a card.

DIRTY FIGHTING: Now reduces enemy attack by 2, no longer draws a card.

DARK BOLT: Cost and damage increased to 2.

CHAOTIC STORM: Cost increased to 2.

CLOAK OF FLAMES: Effect increased to 3, removed "draw a card".

STEALTH: Cost increased to 3.

STANCE OF THE PONDERING TURTLE: Now costs 1 gold, gives +3 hp and -1 attack, no longer draws a card.

STANCE OF THE SWIFT MANTIS: Now costs 1 gold, gives +3 movement but -1 attack, no longer draws a card.

STANCE OF THE FIERCE TIGER: Now costs 1 gold, gives +2 attack but -1 movement, no longer draws a card.

Interface Upgrade Patch

Build #1213 has just been deployed with the following small improvements:

- The visual feedback for drawing cards is now greatly improved; cards fly out of a deck sitting behind the player's castle, and the sound synchronization on the draw has been fixed.

- Players now receive a warning a few turns before their deck will run out of cards.

- What was previously the stalemate mechanic is now called "Deck Burn", and now deals 5 damage directly to the castle and triggers a 50% shorter turn timer.

- Fixed a bug causing faction levels to not update correctly on the deck builder screen without a restart.

- Fixed a bug causing cards to remain large after they are disenchanted on the card collection view.

- Misc other minor bug fixes.

Crafting Buff!

Hey everyone, we've just greatly increased the disenchant and craft prices for common and rare cards! If you were looking to convert your extra commons into legendaries, you will find it is now many times easier!

We will also be posting a general balance pass and major adjustment to TOURNAMENT mode pricing within a few weeks. More details soon!

New scrollybobbers for your clickamaroos! Are you tired of click and dragging our menus around? Did you not know that you can just use the mousewheel (no really you can!)? Well now we have scrollybobbers that you can clickamate over and over to scroll as much as you'd like! Awesome!

We are well on the way to our full release! Things we still want to do before launch:

1) General balance / card mechanic pass.

2) STEAM TRADING CARDS!!

It is a short but time consuming list. We'll post more info on our progress as things move along!
