March Mayhem Update

10+ New Pickups, Optimizations, and Gameplay Iterations!

Many of Carnage Cross' roguelike abilities have been added as item pickups, I hope this makes different playstyles more accessible for players who like to crash, joy ride, or shoot weapons from long and close range. Some new pick ups will also equip your vehicle with chainsaws and saw blades.

The plan is to have better level designs and to keep improving the interactive feedback for gameplay for the next few months. Thank you for your patience and compassion during development. I hope you're doing well and that you find lots of happiness during these times.

Lights, Optimizations, and Action

Hi everyone, I hope you are finding warmth and happiness during these times. More general optimizations have been made, brake and reverse lights have been added, and the Farm stage is slightly larger.

The plan is to add more energy, story telling, and absurdity to existing levels, vehicles, and weapons. One hope is more equipment variety to the turret power up to include rotating rocket launchers and chainsaws by the next update date.

February Valentine's Update



UPDATE NEWS

Hi everyone and happy Valentine's Day, I hope the start of your week is going well, it's been a turbulent time recently, but development goes on!

General gameplay, visual, and performance optimizations have been made, some of the more notable changes are detailed below,

Major changes have started for the 'Theme Park' and 'Liberty Island' levels, now known as 'Cargo'.

Keyboard and mouse users can use the MIddle Mouse Button to reset and lock their camera position until mouse movement is detected.

If the player is far enough from an enemy vehicle, the enemy will begin to glow for better view distance visibility.

Known issues: If keybindings are not displayed properly, please exit the game and delete the CarnageCross folder in your C:\Users\\AppData\Local\ directory. This issue should not reoccur in future builds.

ROADMAP UPDATE


The plan is to focus on making six stages as detailed and deep as possible: Supermarket, North Pole, Farm, Caldera, Theme Park, and Cargo. When these maps are more fleshed out, extra stages will be considered. Along with map design, improvements to enemy AI and weapons are in progress.

The hope is to have major updates to Carnage Cross at least twice a month. Until then, I hope you have a beautiful month of February. Thank you all for your compassion.

January Overhaul Patch & Roadmap Update


Thank you everyone for taking time to share feedback! I hope this patch resolves some issues being experienced, some of the bigger changes are detailed below,

New Menu System

Menus and gameplay are now fully gamepad compatible with a friendlier format.

Vehicle Controls

Controller layout has changed for gamepad and keyboard.

Vehicles have sharper turning and can turn in place.

Camera pivot location has changed, zooming and movement is now manually adjustable.

Gamepad boosting and drifting toggability is off by default.

Gameplay

The "Supermarket" map has been redesigned, small iterations for "North Pole" and "Liberty Island" have started.

Rocket and missiles have a slight aim assist based on front proximity. Homing missiles will only track enemies that are ahead of the player.

Pick ups spawn at a slower rate to discourage camping. Health pick ups are now marked on the radar.

Sounds should be more audible.

Rocket/Missile speeds will adjust to player's current speed.

Joe the bus driver and certain maps have been removed from selection until further development.

Roadmap

If the consensus on player controls has improved, focus will shift towards revamping levels, sounds, roguelike abilities, UI options, and enemy behaviors. Many maps may be combined until extras can be fleshed out. The hope is to resume work on cinematic scenes when these aspects feel more complete.

There's much more to do, but I hope you enjoy the new changes made to Carnage Cross thanks to the compassionate feedback you've given me.

Thank you everyone for the kind support and positive feedback for Carnage Cross! Please always feel free to share your thoughts for improvements or gameplay ideas you'd like to see. This update includes new quality of life options,

New camera views can be used by pressing " C " on the keyboard or the Select button on gamepad; includes default, zoomed out, and angled + zoomed out view, more to be added.

New Default & Toggable Options:

Weapon pick ups are now highlighted with a color-coded glow for better visibility.

New ammo counter for all secondary weapons displayed next to the radar.

The plan is to add more features that can give players a more dynamic and energetic experience.

Known Issues:

Setting the game settings to "Low" will darken the visuals, re-set the "Effects" options to High to avoid this issue.
