No beating around the bush, Cartel Tycoon will leave Early Access on July 26. We’re so excited to finally present you the 1.0 Version of the game in just a couple of weeks.

The 1.0 release is full of long-awaited features like Special Buildings, Enemy Gangs, the ability to make Heroin, Steam Achievements, and Cloud Saves. We’ve made the game better in every way, optimized, reworked, and polished every nook and cranny, so we’re finally ready to leave Early Access.
But what does leaving Early Access mean exactly? Well, it means that we’ve done (almost) everything we wanted with the game initially and finished our Early Access Roadmap. That doesn’t mean the development is stopping, no! We will be constantly supporting the game after the 1.0 release and will be working on improving it even further. But that’s a whole talk for another time.
We’ll talk about what’s coming to the game in an upcoming devlog. and we’ll share the Patch Notes with you as always.
We wanted to thank those who supported us during the EA life of the game, so everyone who got Cartel Tycoon before the 1.0 will receive special Cartel Emblems! To get them you need to own the game and register your tinyBuild account before July 26.
We’ve already updated the game to include them, so you can download the latest build and claim your rewards in the tinyBuild launcher!
And another thing - the price of Cartel Tycoon will remain the same on the 1.0 Release, but it will slightly go up in a couple of weeks, so you’ll have the perfect opportunity to buy the 1.0 Release with the Early Access price for a limited time!

Enemy Gangs BETA is Live!

Today Enemy Gangs and their leaders enter the Cartel Tycoon Beta. so let’s talk about how their introduction will change up the gameplay of Cartel Tycoon! Let’s go!
Overhaul of the Enemy Gangs is a big one! They’re no longer just cars that periodically attack your property! They now have their own leaders, which you can talk to, do business with, and even acquire their territory not just through war but through D… Di… Dip… through Deep Peaceful Dialogues! By bringing more functions to Enemy Gangs we wanted to spice up the gameplay and give the players more strategy options they can choose in any phase of the game.
Gangs aren’t the only thing that spices up the gameplay in this BETA Release… Introducing Heroin, the end-game drug you’ve all been waiting for! It brings new meaning to the early Opium, which now has a new function - its dried form is essential to creating Heroin! Heroin is the most difficult drug to produce but it’s also the most expensive one! So get ready to try out new builds to maximize your late-game profit!
There are, of course, a lot more changes, bug fixes, and smaller reworks, so check out the full Beta Patch Notes below.

Major changes

Welcome to the first devlog of 2022, everyone! It’s Andrey, and I’m here to tell you all about the Special Buildings, that are coming to the game in the next update. For real. We’ve been working on them for the past year, and are excited to finally reveal their functions and make them come alive on your maps. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.
There are 5 Special Buildings in the game: Prison, Airport, Guerillas, Reservation, and Military Base. All of them will have distinct functions, and to unlock their full potential, you’ll need to conquer the Region the buildings are in and improve your relationship with the ones in charge. Let’s talk about the unique aspects of every building right now.
Take Prison, for example. It drastically changes your relationship with your lieutenants. They no longer die, when they’re found by Federales or DEA or cross the Police roadblock - they go to Prison! What that means, that they are no longer a part of your Cartel, but you can complete certain quests to choose their fate: for example, you may orchestrate a prison breakout, and get your lieutenant back for free. You can also talk to the Warden to buy out your lieutenants before their term ends. Or… dispose of them without any unwanted noise. What happens in Prison doesn’t always stay in Prison, but you can always pay to cover your tracks. Prison also doubles as a new Recruitment Area - you can check out who’s staying inside, and bring the best ones to your Cartel. But now let’s talk about the people you can’t control…
Moving on to Guereilas! This building holds a lot of potential for those who don’t always choose the fights they can win. At first glance, you might think that it’s just another smuggling point, but it’s so much more than that. Yes, it’s a smuggling point that you can use to sell your illegal goods and not worry about Police, Federales, and DEA interference. But if you become friends with the Guerrillas, they’ll help you win your wars… if they’re in the mood, of course! They’ll defend your cities and production chains not only from the enemy gangs but from officers of all calibers as well. And they’ll attack enemy territories with your lieutenants! You can't control where they go, and they sometimes need the rest, of course, so they won’t be able to help if you start wars again and again all over the place, but their power is yours if you know when to pick a fight.
And you certainly don't want to pick a fight with the Military. Let’s talk about Military Base. This Special Building lets you upgrade the defense of your production chain with military technology. Who doesn’t want a building that can defend itself against the attackers? And that’s not all - if you’re good friends with the General and you supply him with his favorite white powder (hint: he’s NOT a baker) without missing deliveries, he will be too busy to attack you if you reach his Attention Star on the Terror scale. And your lieutenants can use Military Base to become more powerful for a limited time - partying with the General gives you lots of benefits!
But a good Capo doesn’t always party, good Capo doesn’t only work for himself but for the people of all the Regions he liberates! Or something like that, I guess. You don’t need to believe this story but the people in the Reservation do. Reservation is similar to Villages in its purpose, but it works in a different way. It operates on Loyalty, not upgrades. You can buy legal and illegal goods here, and the higher your loyalty, the more things you can buy - including unique legal goods that sell for quite a price. We wanted to expand our Loyalty mechanic that didn’t have a lot of ways to be used in-game, so that’s where the Reservation came in. We think it’s a great incentive for players to try out new ways of playing and benefit from it! And benefit you will - when you’re not friendly with the Reservation, they won’t let you use most of the land in Amado! Something about it being holy or whatever… Sometimes you just want to fly away from it all! And we’ve got a solution just for you…
And, finally, Airport! We think some of your lieutenants could use a vacation, eh? Of course, who travels without baggage, right? You can send your lieutenants on a trip, and give them some… souvenirs to deliver. Lieutenants won’t be available when they’re away but will return happy and with plenty of cash for your Empire. Boarding starts on schedule, so don’t let them miss their flight! Or just go and do everything yourself, and have a little break to boot. The Airport has a lot of slots for lieutenants so it will be very helpful at the start of the game.
Each Special Building will open new opportunities and benefits when you establish a relationship with those in charge. We’re so happy to finally bring you Special Buildings, new characters and to expand Cartel Tycoon even further! We’ve got more plans for Special Buildings down the line, and are looking forward to your feedback when they update drops.

Our plans for 2022

Today we want to talk a bit about our plans for Cartel Tycoon in 2022.
In the coming weeks, we want to release our Special Building Update! We talked about them a lot and will be releasing a full devlog, so we don’t want to spend too much time on it in this post. The gist of it is - Prison, Guerillas, Reservation, Airport, and Military Base are finally coming to the game! We believe that their release will significantly shake up the meta, because each of them offers unique enchantments to your Cartel, and we can’t wait for you to try them out! They are the main attraction of this update, of course, but we’ll also be delivering multiple reworks of already existing systems, lots of improvements, balance changes, and bug fixes!
But the big event of this year, of course, is our full release! And… we’re aiming to release the game this Spring/Summer season!
We will bring even more variety to the game, and after listening closely to your feedback all the time we were in Early Access, we want to introduce meaningful changes to already existing systems, so the game can be the best version of itself when it’s fully out and ready.
For example, we heard your feedback to Global Unlocks, and have been working hard on improving the system. We still want to keep these achievements in the game, but we realize that tying almost all of them to the Story Mode didn’t work, and you, as players, didn’t get that feeling of “Pride and Accomplishment” we wanted you to have. So we’ve been working on reimagining these challenges, so they can be obtainable through gameplay, and not just Story Mode grind. We hope that you’ll love the changes we’re making. The second one is Terror system. We introduced changes to it in the Balance Update but wanted to still keep the original hardcore vision, so now the behavior of the system is tied to Difficulty Levels! If you want permanent stars and other hardcore Terror challenges, you can select the higher difficulty! And if you want more mild gameplay, you can choose an easier difficulty. Hardcore and mid-core gamers will be happy with that change! Of course, we’re also tweaking a lot of the other systems to make the game more stable and enjoyable for everyone!
With all these changes coming to the game we have to postpone the release of multiplayer. Our goal - first and foremost - is to make the game the best it can be on release, and we don’t want to cut corners to release it with more features but with less quality. That’s why we have decided to focus on providing the best Single-player experience on release, and continue our work on Multiplayer through 2022.
But the Full Release will come with tons of new content - we’re expanding the enemy gangs, and confrontations with them will offer players more choice, will provide more immersive storytelling to Cartel Tycoon, and will just be fun. Also, a dozen of new lieutenants, more music, Steam Achievements, new drugs, and multiple expansions of already existing systems are coming!
We’re fully committed to supporting the game after the release, and will bring you A LOT more mechanics, stories, characters, and, most importantly, fun gameplay innovations!

Balance Update is LIVE

Our Balance Update is now live across all the platforms! The Update is out of the Beta, and in it, we have implemented a less punishing Terror system, reworked Attention Stars, gave your Lieutenants another useful function, and introduced many balance changes to the game that ultimately give you more choice in your playstyle!
We'll continue working on further Balance changes and system reworks, and will have more for you in our next Major Update - Special Buildings!

Major changes
ːcartel_loveː Major Terror rework: We wanted to make Terror less punishing, and that’s why now Terror reduces over time by itself and Attention Stars deactivate after the attack. The Terror scale has been changed, and now gaining each new Attention Star will require more Terror. We’ve also added more ways to gain Terror to balance things out. We will continue working on the Terror system in future updates.
ːcartel_loveː Major attacks rework: We’re also introducing changes to Attention Star attacks themselves: Order of Attention Stars has been changed. Now it’s: Police, Federales, DEA, National Army, CIA, US Army. New Attack type added for Police - Road Cordons which will block roads for a limited amount of time (don’t send your Lieutenants there), Federales now arrest buildings, DEA now searches multiple buildings, the “Investigation” attack has been removed. US Army follows your Lieutenants even if you move them.
ːcartel_loveː Major Village rework: With this update, we wanted to make interactions with Villages more complex and fun: Villages are now upgradable, upgrades unlock new legal products. You are now able to choose the price for legal products in Villages. Buying for a higher price grants you more Loyalty, taking products for free rises your Terror. You can now use Dirty Money to buy products from villages.
ːcartel_loveː Smuggling points rework: We wanted to make Smuggling Points more money-efficient and also introduce new ways to use your Lieutenants. The delivery time now also includes product loading time. Smuggling Points now have 1 Delivery Slot, each Lieutenant stationed in the Smuggling Point will grant an additional Delivery Slot. Each Smuggling point has a different amount of additional Delivery Slots. You can now sell illegal products without packaging in all Smuggling Points, but selling them this way through Seaports and Border Checkpoints will grant you, additional Terror. You can sell packed drugs in all the Smuggling Points also.
ːcartel_loveː Global Unlocks rework: All of the regions have been removed from Global Unlocks, you can use all of them in Sandbox and Survival Modes without additional unlocks now! Conditions for unlocking Pathos Residence were changed. Players who already unlocked it will keep it. We will continue to improve the Global Unlocks system in future updates.
Quest-Events rework: We feel like Quest-Events brought more storytelling variety to the game, but also ːcartel_loveː brought more challenge, especially in the early game - we wanted to address it in this update. More Quest-Events were added, and now you’ll see more positive Quest-Events that will help you grow your Empire. Lieutenants Quest-Events appear more often now.
ːcartel_loveː Lieutenants' experience no longer grows when they’re idle. Now If you want your Lieutenants to gain XP, you’ll have to use them!
Balance
Market Balance has been changed: Base prices for Opium and Dried Cannabis have been lowered, their price on the Market will change more frequently but in a smaller range. Base prices for Meth and Cocaine have been increased, their price on the Market will change less frequently but in a larger range, The market also won’t affect Opium and Cannabis at the start of the game that much.
Survival Mode balance has changed to reflect the current Balance changes.
The Cannabis production Balance has been tweaked.
Efficiency Layers have been changed across difficulty levels of Sandbox Mode.
Difficulty levels for Sandbox have been changed: Easy now has 5 neutral regions, Normal has 3 neutral regions.
The speed of cars on sand and gravel roads has been lowered, and the speed of cars on all the roads has been reworked.
Prices of roads have been lowered.
Prices and Upkeep Costs of these Tier I buildings in the Research Tree have been lowered: Farm, Warehouse, Transport Company, Workshop, River Pier.
Prices of Passive Effects on Tier I of Research Tree have been lowered in half.
Cities now lose control over the course of 16 days.
Workshop Upgrades has been changed: drugs won’t need additional research, only the packaging
One delivery of Dirty Money to Laundering Buildings now lasts for a larger amount of Laundering cycles. Storage capacities of Laundering Buildings now reflect this change, and now they can be overflowed.
Your Starting Region now may have an enemy and arrested buildings on the start. The Player still controls the Smuggling Point of the Region.
Confiscation now lasts 12 days instead of 7.
You can construct a Stadium and a Catherdral in any city now. (But still 1 on the Map)
The time between Mayor Favors has been increased.
Mayor Favor “Lower Terror” now lowers much more Terror, and you can’t get Attention Stars while it happens.
Price for Mayor Favor: Arrest Removal has been increased.
You gain more Loyalty for City Events
Construction of non-city buildings now grants a bit of Loyalty.
Building Demolition with Lieutenant Ability now grants you 90% of the building cost instead of 50%.
The highest Lieutenants' upkeep price during the negotiation phase is now higher.
Conditions of some Deals with Lieutenants have been updated - more products need to be sold.

Lieutenants now require a certain level of Terror to be recruited.
An Assassination of your Lieutenant that you ordered will lower the Allegiance of all other Lieutenants in the Cartel.
Silent Assassination ability won’t rise Terror anymore. But it lowers the Allegiance of all Lieutenants.
A lot of minor adjustments and updates to Lieutenant Abilities to bring them up to the current balance changes.

With this update, we wanted to make Terror and Attention Stars less punishing, and introduce balance changes to the game that ultimately give you more choice in your playstyle. We've also tweaked our Quest-Event system, and now you will see more "positive" Quests that will help you grow your Empires.

We advise playing the Sandbox Mode mostly because Balancing for other Modes is still in progress.

Major changes
ːcartel_loveː Major Terror rework: Terror reduces over time by itself, Attention Stars deactivate after the attack, Terror scale changed, more ways to gain Terror added. ːcartel_loveː Major attacks rework: Order of Attention Stars is changed. Now it’s Police, Federales, DEA, National Army, CIA, US Army. New Attack type added for Police - Road Cordons which will block roads for a limited amount of time, Federales now arrest buildings, DEA now searches multiple buildings, the Investigation has been removed.
