Another large patch! I'm considering this 0.3.0.0 because I've wiped some data. Sorry about that, so much has changed, I'm afraid that the game will break if you try and play it not from scratch. I wanted to do even more this patch, but there was a major crash found, so I had to get this out quicker.
The game has gone through a major UI and HUD overhaul.
Additions
A totally new HUD has been added. This is fairly experimental still, I may even get rid of it. If you want to use the old HUD, there is an option in the options tab.
Legendary Weapons
Stungun. Tesla Gun. Fires an arch of lighting that pierces objects and enemies.
Flare Gun. Pompeii. Fires off a flare that explodes in lava on contact.
Minigun. Pulse Cannon. Spinup time that increases firing speed. Bullets regenerate over time.
Dual Pistols. Quick-Time. Fast firing speed. When you stop firing you won't be able to fire for a short period of time.
Scout Rifle. Dissolver. Fire a beam that dissolves enemies.
Some people were having an issue with screenshake so I've added a toggle for it.
Balance
Reduced kickback when you take damage.
Increased the time it takes until enemies spawn.
Experimentation: Career mode levels are now 3x3 isntead of 5x2
More items now drop, including guns, clothing and loot.
"Reinforcements" skill has been nerfed. Using it now uses all "charges".
"Focus" is much slower now.
Bug Fixes
Projectiles that are destroyed when they hit a wall can no longer be fired offscreen to last forever.
Puzzle Boxes
Moving away from puzzle boxes will now close them.
You can no longer solve a sliding block puzzle after the timer is up.
Clicking the "unlock" button now works properly.
Trying to solve an already solved puzzle will no longer break it.
Mastermind puzzles are no longer automatically unlocked and are unlocked by pressing T now.
Fixed a couple issues with the menu.
Minimizing the game will no longer turn on texture smoothing.
Fixed crash caused by finishing a level in career mode.
Fixed crash caused by pressing down or up on the career select page.
Fixed a first time load related crash.
Other Changes
Increased the number of lootboxes that can be on the end raid screen.
Enemy weapons information will now only display if you're inspecting.
The "Map" option has been removed. I see no reason that anyone would use anything but the option that showed the whole raid, and it has been changed.
Modding objects are now interacted with T instead of E and the range to use them has been fixed.
Tutorial has been changed up a slight amount.
The rest of the planned UI and HUD changes will be coming next patch, hopefully along with controller support.
Enjoy, post about any bugs and crashes in the discussions tab please. Thanks!
Cash_Out has been updated to 0.2.3.0!
Sale's over now. I've been working on a larger update during this time, I did a lot of balance and visual changes based on feedback. I see some people were finding the game too easy, where some people were finding the game too hard, hopefully this update balances that out a bit.
Additions
Cleaned up player sprites, bullets and projectiles now have a slight offset when firing.
Added a "hardcore" mode to career mode for people who were finding the game too easy. This starts you off in ng+, where it is much more difficult.
Interactable objects are now used by pressing T.
Other Changes
Guard colours have been changed slightly.
Puzzles are now interacted with T instead of E (this can be rebound).
Rearranged the main menu a bit, I think people are thinking that "game modes" are minigames, but they aren't. As a result I've moved everything into one tab. The UNDER CONSTRUCTION tab will be multiplayer when added.
Cash Attack has been removed. It was very broken. I don't think anyone will miss it.
Bug Fixes
You can now properly change vertical screen size.
Turrets can now spawn in the tutorial.
You can no longer upgrade unique weapons.
Fixed several issues relating to screen size on the menu.
Fixed a performance issue with the menu.
Balance
Changed enemy health scaling, the scale is significantly less steep now, enemies at lower levels have more health, but enemies at higher levels have much less health.
EXPERIMENTAL: Increased crit mutliplyer to 3x and minicrit multiplyer to 1.5x.
That's about it for this week, unfortunately the player sprites took me a very long time to change, hopefully people enjoy these more. Thanks!
Cash_Out has been updated to 0.2.2.0!
Small update again, I found a major issue with the career mode screen which was causing it to use a lot of memory, and load a file every frame. Oops. It should run much better now, and shouldn't have major FPS drops.
Additions
When changing a setting, you'll be able to revert changes incase you made a mistake.
Other Changes
Changed the way classes are unlocked again, instead of $2000 or every 3 raids attempted. It's still $2000, but dying no longer adds only 50% to the amount of money you've stolen. You could just start a game, restart and repeat 3 times and it would count so I've gotten rid of the 3 raid thing.
All money stolen before death is added to the global money talley now.
Arcade mode now transfers 50% of your stolen money to the bank.
Bug Fixes
Fixed normal crossbow bolts exploding.
Fixed editing resolutions was spilling over into the smoothing value on the menu.
Fixed a crash related to the clothing upgrade in the store.
Fixed some major optimization issues with career mode.
Balance
Increased explosion damage dealt by Triple Cross bolts.
I may do some balanced based on difficulty soon, but for now I need to normalize the way damage works, anything that isn't physical damage doesn't work too well at the moment.
Thanks everyone for reporting crashes and bugs!
Small Update, Sale, and Authoring Tools update.
Generally I don't update like this, but a bunch of stuff has happened at once so I'd like to condense it all into one news post.
To start, a very small update has been pushed for Cash_Out. I noticed that no one was unlocking classes. Most people weren't stealing 5000 dollars. I've changed how classes are unlocked as a result.
You can unlock classes for every 2000 you steal, or 3 raids you attempt. This should make class unlocking much faster.
Along with that, the authoring tools have been updated. Keep in mind they're still very early and still have a large amount of bugs and issues.
ADDITIONS
Exporting to steam workshop has been added.
You can now add a room select icon to the level pack.
BUG FIXES
Fixed crash related to having only one particle on a material.
Pressing cancel when editing an existing level pack no longer takes you to the creation screen.
Fixed an issue with loading rooms.
Changed the way sprites are loaded in initially to ensure that loading always works.
You can no longer select .bmp files as spites. Sorry, they never worked to begin with, only PNG GIF and JPG.
Fixed being unable to rename sprites.
Particles will no longer be spawned if the lifetime is 0.
Along with that, the game is now on sale for 40% for the rest of the week.
