Path 1.01 - Respec Cost reduction and more.

Here are the patch note for our small patch:


  • Respec cost has been reduced from 50/15/10 to 35/0/0.
  • Arboreal Shaman now only summon Poison Flower when they see you.
  • Poision Flower active and primed durations reduced from 10/20 to 6/12.
  • Lantern Magus now only summon Lanterns when they see you.
  • Spider-Mine Clockworks now explode after 5 seconds if they cannot reach their target.
  • Earth Spirits now blow up if they cannot reach within a lifetime (20 for regular, 12 for Boss summons).
  • Lecture Room Booby Trap challenge number has been fixed.
  • Some missing descriptions have been fixed.
  • Potential fix deployed for Royal Guard invincibility bug.

1.0 UPDATE!!!

Here comes the great 1.0 update to finalize Castle of Alchemists Early Access period!!

Thank you people for sticking with us through this 6-month-planned-actually-took-22-months-23-days journey!

CASTLE OF ALCHEMISTS 1.0 PATCH NOTES



TECHNICAL


Since we have revamped a lot of systems at the background and the progression, you will require a brand new save.

Cloud Saves


Game now supports cloud saves, tested on Steam Deck too.


NEW ENEMY FACTION : DRUIDS!



We finalize our enemy line up with earth themed faction, druids, with 13 new monsters.

NEW BOSSES : BALOR & YMIR!



New faction comes with its new boss, Balor the Evil Eye with its heavy ranged attacks and summons across the arena.

And Arctic Faction finally gets its boss, Ymir, Lord of Jotun, raining down ice and bringing pain with its fists!


NEW LEVELS



We are adding 4 completely new levels :

  • Crystal Mines, populated by Druids.
  • South Warehouse, populated by Druids and Arctics.
  • Old Mines, populated by Druids.
  • Crossroads, populated by all the factions coming at once, final doorstep before Ymir!


We have also added 2 new endless maps for West Warehouse and Crossroads.

Finally, 2 more boss arenas, for Balor and Ymir.

All the unlock progression has been revamped through new levels with new challenges. Mine tilesets are now populated by Druid factions alone.

ENEMY POWERUP: DEBUFFS


Enemies now can apply certain debuffs to Bellator as follows:


  • Impairment : Heavily reduces vision of Bellator.
  • Weakness : Reduces weapon damage of Bellator by 50%.
  • Blaze : Burns and deals 20 damage per second to Bellator, bypassing absorption.
  • Frostbite : Reduces movement speed and increases stamina consumption by 50%.
  • Curse : Increases the damage Bellator takes by 50%.


Some of the existing enemies are modified to apply these debuffs as well as new ones.


XP & SKILL REVAMPS



XP progression system has been revamped to make it more clear. It starts with 1000 xp requirement at level 3, and increases on certain intervals by 500 points at 11th and 21th levels making them 1500 XP and 2000 XP per level.

All regular challenges now give extra 75 XP.
All difficult challenges now give extra 150 XP.

Revamped Skills


Majority of the skill are revamped with their Level 5 Mutation and Advanced Trainings.


  • Eyes Mutation : Reduces the effects and duration of Impairment on Bellator by 50 percent.
  • Bones : Grants 4 damage absorption per level.
  • Bones Mutation : Reduces the effects and duration of Frostbite on Bellator by 50 percent.
  • Lung Capacity : Increases Stamina by 10 percent per level.
  • Lung Capacity Mutation : Reduces the effects and duration of Weakness on Bellator by 50 percent.
  • Reflexes : Increases Dodge chance by 8 percent per level.
  • Reflexes Mutation : Reduces the duration of Blaze on Bellator by 50 percent.
  • Muscle Density Mutation : Reducing your weight increases your Melee Damage, up 50 percent at half weight.



  • Vial Training : Reduces cooldown 7 percent per level.
  • Clockwork Training : Increases duration 10 percent per level.
  • Turret Training : Increases radius by 10 percent per level.
  • Booby Trap Training : Increases damage by 10 percent per level.
  • Booby Trap Advanced Training : You longer play an animation while deploying booby traps.
  • Alchemical Training : Increases elemental damage of weapons by 10 percent per level.
  • Alchemical Advanced Training : Dealing elemental damage with weapon grants 1 charge. At 10 charge, an elemental explosion occurs on the enemy same as the weapon element.
  • Mechanical Training : Increases physical damage of weapons by 10 percent per level.
  • Mechanical Advanced Training : Reduces your active cooldowns by 0.5 second per critical strike.
  • Melee Weapon Training : Reduces stamina cost of the melee weapons by 10 percent per rank.
  • Melee Weapon Advanced Training : Killing enemies in melee increases melee damage by 5 percent, stacks up to 5 times seperately.
  • Ranged Weapon Training : Increases crit chance of the ranged weapons by flat 2 percent per rank.



Aside from these we made numerous small changes for both QoL, backend systems and more.

1.0 update is coming April 10th!



We are about to bring full pain to invaders with upcoming 1.0 release of Castle of Alchemists at April 10th!





1.0 patch will include:

  • Support for cloud saves!
  • Brand new levels with revamped level progression
  • A whole new faction with 13 new enemies
  • 2 new bosses
  • Revamped Skill Trees
  • New abilities for enemies to debuff Bellator
  • A long list of balance changes
  • A closure to the events at the castle.


Due to extensive changes we made about progression, you will require a brand new save file, meaning your older save files will not transfer to 1.0 release.

vEA_09b Update

Hello folks!

We are bringing some of the requested quality of life changes as well as bug fixes.

Here are the patch notes:

Quality of Life Updates



  • Trap Selection section of the Workshop now displays what the trap does with a video when you hover over type selection for the trap.
  • You can now skip tutorials indivually at main base. You still need to play the movement tutorials and introduction level at the beginning. We are working on a way that you can skip whole tutorials when you start a new save file.
  • Win Screen at the end of the level now shows how many Dual Mix, Triad and Elemental Flux combos you got. Hovering over the combo symbols now shows a small description for what you need to do to achieve these combo types.
  • Hovering over Victory Skulls at the Win Screen now displays a small information screen right below, showing what needs to be done for Flawless Victory and your score compared to that.


Bug Fixes



  • Bug where you cannot sell traps after building a tower; unless you right click, has been fixed.
  • Bug where Bird Clockwork - Electric does not apply conditions have been fixed.
  • Bug where Acid Tower's range is not shown correctly through ground layers have been fixed.
  • Some localization has been fixed for items.


This will be all for this patch. Patch will be live for main game, demo and prologue.

vEA_09a - Hotfix

Here are the notes for small hotfix for the new patch:


  • Ironworks Storage wave balance has been adjusted. It no longer has Lantern Magus (lantern summoning mages), instead Veiled Magus (fire ball throwing mage).
  • Iron grates on the ground that are present in the levels (Warehouse Floors, West Warehouse, Blacksmith Wings and Magma Reserves) now conduct electiricity.
  • A bug where the new levels do not count towards finished levels for 2nd scroll has been fixed.
  • Main menu visuals have been updated.

vEA_09 - SULTAN UPDATE

Hello good folk!

Here comes our new boss for Flame Faction, Grinning Sultan, 9 new traps and lots of item reworks!

NEW BOSS : GRINNING SULTAN




Our second boss has been added to the game, Grinning Sultan, leading the flame faction. You can reach him after Magma Reserves and defeating him is required to unlock 3rd scroll if you haven't already.

NEW ENEMIES


Ice Faction Enemies



  • Added a new enemy, Arctic Jotun Warlord. Armored version of the Jotun with a devastating area of effect ice attack.


NEW LEVELS



  • Added a new level to the 2nd scroll, Iron Mines, as a branch for Blacksmith Wings.
  • Added a new level to the 2nd scroll, Magma Chambers, as the arena of the new boss.


NEW TRAPS



Trap Bases



  • Brand new trap type, Impaler Trap, has been added to the game. Hits a single enemy for massive damage, if it kills a non-heavy unit, its corpse is impaled on the trap. After a brief moment, it fills the corpse with chemicals and primes itself. Default version explodes the corpse dealing massive damage around with pieces of it.
  • Brand new trap type, Peg Top Trap, has been added to the game. It is a ceiling trap, releasing a giant peg top, which can bounce off the walls. Default version releases a knocking peg top, which pushes enemies back with each hit and can bounce more than other versions.

Variant Traps



  • Impaler - Poison, variant for Impaler trap. Fills the corpse with toxic fumes, when primed explodes the corpse, releasing poisonous gasses.
  • Impaler - Marking, variant for Impaler trap. Fills the corpse with fluids which increases the blood viscosity, when primed explodes the corpse, applying Marked condition in a large area.
  • Peg Top Trap - Blades, variant for Peg Top trap. Giant peg top applies bleed as it passes through enemies.
  • Peg Top Trap - Dynamo, variant for Peg Top trap. Giant peg top that gains electri charge as it gains momentum, and shocks nearby enemies.
  • Cannon Shooter, variant for Shooter Trap. A giant cannon with a trigger area further from the trap. Bombards the area when triggered.
  • Iron Fist, variant for Mechanical Ceiling Trap. A giant iron fist, pounds the ground with extreme force, dealing massive damage directly below and applies Slow condition to enemies in large area.
  • Cyro Bellows, variant for Furnace Trap. Instead of burning enemies, it applies heavy chill to them.


NEW CANNONS & CONSUMABLES



  • Added a new shoulder cannon, Gatherer Shot. Gathers enemies in front of you and stuns them.
  • Added a new shoulder cannon, Toxic Blast. A heavy blast that deals acid damage, leaves acid puddles and poison clouds behind.
  • Added a new consumable, Focus Pellets. Consuming one allows you to crit every ranged hit for 8 seconds.
  • Added a new consumable, Iron Skin Syringe. Using one grants damage reduction, fast healing and immunity to poise break for 20 seconds.


ITEM REWORKS


Alchemical Greatsword



All of the versions have been reworked:

  • Alchemical Greatsword Poison, has been reworked to apply Poison all the time for 2 seconds. When charge is activated, it applies Poison for 8 seconds and leaves behind small poison clouds with each swing.
  • Alchemical Greatsword Corrade, has been reworked to apply Corrade all the time for 2 seconds. When charge is activated, it applies Corrade for 8 seconds and leaves behind small acid puddles with each swing.
  • Alchemical Greatsword Frost, has been reworked to apply Chill all the time for 2 seconds. When charge is activated, it applies Chill for 8 seconds.
  • Alchemical Greatsword Marking, has been reworked into Slayer Sword. It has now very strong physical stats with an increased weight. When charge is activated, it drains health by 35 per second but increases the damage it deals by 50%.

Spider Clockwork



  • Spider Clockwork Acid has been rework to work like shooter turret. It targets the furthest enemy within range. While it travels towards to target, it deals acid damage around. When it reaches target and explodes, applies Corrade to enemies.
  • Spider Clockwork Oil has been rework to work like shooter turret. It targets the furthest enemy within range. While it travels towards to target, it applies Oiled to enemies. When it reaches target and explodes, leaves behind an oil puddle.

Shooter Turret



  • Shooter Turret Piercing has been reworked into Shooting Turret Saws. Now it sends out saws that travels on the ground till it hits a wall. See the saw rework below.

Core Hammer



  • Furnace Hammer's final hit while its charge is active now sends out flames that deals damage and can ignite flammables.

Shoulder Cannons



  • Heavy Blast cooldown has been reduced from 90 seconds to 60 seconds.
  • Freezing Blast cooldown has been reduced from 60 seconds to 45 seconds.

SKILL REWORKS


This is the first touch on the skill we have made for a long time, expect more to come.

  • Tough Skin's level 5 mutation has been reworked. Previously it granted damage reduction on certain conditions. Now it directly increases the number of consumables you can use by 2.


CONDITON REWORKS



  • Poison condition now doubles the effects of bleed.
  • Bleed condition now deals damage according to movespeed of the enemy, while they move. You can apply multiple stacks of Bleed, up to 5. Applying Bleed refreshes the duration for all stacks.
  • Saws that travel on the ground now apply Bleed condition. This works for Saw Shooter Trap, Shooter Turret Saws & Mechanical Trap Saws. It does not work for Saw Trap and its variants.
  • Marked condition now effects turrets too.
  • Wet condition now amplifies the applied Chill by 100 percent rather than immediately freezing chilled enemies.
  • Caltrops no longer applies Bleed, only Slow.


QoL OPTIONS



  • We have added a new option to both main menu and pause menu, Aimed Camera. You can now toggle between the current aim system where the camera moves towards your aim in combat mode, or a static one where the camera is fixed to keep Bellator at the center.

    This has been request to reduce the amount of motion sickness. We are still working on that.


This will be all for this patch notes. Patch will go online for both main game and prologue version.
As we mentioned in earlier updates, localization for new updates are not present yet.

vEA_08d - Gauntlet Update

With this update we are bringing a brand new melee weapon, a pair of fast-hitting power gauntlets!

New Melee Weapon - Power Gauntlets




A fast hitting weapon with a 7 hit combo.

Gathers charge by hitting enemies. You can spend gathered charge for alternative attacks. Variants as follows:

  • Power Gauntlets - Quake
    Alternative hits pounds the ground, dealing damage in a large radius. Each hit requires 25% charge, and can be alternated withouth breaking your attack combo.

  • Power Gauntlets - Smash
    Alternative hits smashes the ground, slowing enemies in a large radius for 10 seconds at 50% charge, stunning them at 100% charge.

  • Power Gauntlets - Haymaker
    At 100% charge, alternative hit kills the first non-heavy enemy it connects, sending its corpse flying back damaging any enemy it hits for 350 physical damage.

Power Gauntlets unlocks after you beat Magma Reserves. If you already beat it, it comes already unlocked on the craft screen.

Quality of Life Updates



  • All Crank Gun versions now go into reload when you hold down the attack button and have no steam pressure (ammo) left. Meaning, you can hold down the attack button and you will attack-reload without interruption.


Bug Fixes



  • Frozen Kills not registering properly has been fixed.
  • Team Machiavelli intro video sound now is tied to Music Volume slider.
  • On Hop Cluster bombs not working for Repeater Crossbow has been fixed.


Update will go through for both main game and prologue.
