Castle of Shikigami V1.0.4 Released (BGM playback fix)
We just released version 1.0.4 with the following updates:


  • Fixed BGM not playing on some systems
  • Other minor improvements


Apologies for the delay in getting this fixed: it wasn't something that came up during testing or (obviously) we would have addressed it before launch.

Edit (6/25):
If you still have problems with sound playback, go to Options and switch "Auto detect sound device" a different device then select "Back" to save settings.

Please make sure you have the latest OpenAL drivers installed too.
One other possible cause could be multiple sound devices (monitor via HDMI, USB headphones etc), so if the problem persists, please try unplugging any sound devices you can and rebooting the game.

Don't forget the score contest (details here) either!

All other issues reported in the bug report thread are being looked at.

Castle of Shikigami V1.0.2 Released
We just released version 1.0.2 with the following updates:


  • Added option to switch screen orientation (Settings: Screen rotation)
  • Added ability to use directional pad or analog stick by default
  • Added missing resolution settings


NB: to enable borderless vertical/tate display, please switch the UI to either Classic or Nothing (Settings: UI style).

The reported lack of BGM playback for some users is being worked on as we speak; we hope to have a fix for this soon. Apologies for the wait.

Castle of Shikigami release & hi-score contest
Summer, July June 20052017 .

A shooting game is released from the steamy Summer streets of Tokyo.
That's right, it's time to call the paranormal investigators, because Castle of Shikigami is out now. And to celebrate, we have a hi-score contest!

Rules:

  1. Leave difficulty on default setting (Normal)
  2. Play the game until you defeat Miyoko Aku, boss of stage 1-3
  3. At the stage result screen, press F12 to take a screen capture
  4. Post the capture to Twitter during the contest period with the official hashtag #castleofshikigami and a mention to us (@degigames)
  5. edit: Multiple entries OK, but only one score per user will be accepted.


If you can't locate the screen captures, open your Steam Library, right click on Castle of Shikigami and select 'View Screenshots' and follow the prompts to navigate to the correct folder.

Start: June 15th (Thursday)
Finish: 7pm PT on June 25th (Sunday)

Prizes:
1st place: A Shikigami poster & the soundtrack (Steam key)
2nd place: A Shikigami poster
3rd place: The soundtrack (Steam key)

We'll also be picking two random winners and awarding them a prize too.
