The players don’t control blocks, instead, they control the “engineers”, which makes for a very different game experience. Blocks will fall from above onto the central 5×5 grid, where the player have to push and pull them in order to make combinations. If you complete the level goals, the tower grows taller. As it grows, different challenges in the shape of weather effects or enemies will get in the way.
Players also can play in the arena, trying to survive as long as they can, or compete one against other.

Update 1.3
Christmas has gone, Spring is on the air, and Castles gets some changes in order to keep improving.
We have improved the game performance, and most of you will notice it in a much better frame rate and some visual improvements.
The other major update is on the controls area, now recognizing PS4 and XBox One controllers more efficiently.

Christmas has come to Castles, and we will like to Celebrate by adding an addictive new game Mode, Versus Mode, that lets you play against a friend in order to see who's the best tower builder.
Snow covers the city, but this won't stop our tireless builders, that have suited their Christmas clothes and changed their cubes for gift boxes.

Competitive Mode is coming to Castles!
Madrid, Spain (December 21, 2015) -- Christmas is nearly here and with it comes the arrival of fresh downloadable content for Castles, the match-3 style puzzler released by BadLand Indie and WhootGames on Steam in October. Castles currently features a survival mode and a story mode. Now Jonathan Rivas, CTO of WhootGames, says "Enough with cooperative gameplay. It's competition time!" The update will allow players to do what they've always wanted -- challenge a best friend, partner in crime, or sibling to a death match. Individual play is rewarding, co-op is fun for a while, but competitive battles are where it's really at!
Also, for a limited time, players will enjoy a Christmas backdrop as they attempt to build the tallest tower ever seen for the beloved King Harold. New character skins and a cheerful Christmas snowfall will brighten the ascent and player's faces from now until January.
