We are so excited to return to Next Fest and talk about our game of cats, humans and unpaid debts. We’ll be having a walk through the memory-laden halls of the Mason Mansion while talking about the game’s background, development process and more. See you there!

To all the Cats and Other Life Forms!

Another month has passed in the blink of an eye. Once again, we're here to share some exciting news and development notes with you.



The demo version of “Cats and the Other Lives” will strike back at the upcoming Steam Next Fest in June. If you haven’t played the previous demo we believe this is a great chance to explore what CatOL has in store for its players thanks to the improvements in user experience, narrative sequencing and some new scenes added just for the demo. If you have played the previous demo, it might be wise to be a little bit more patient and wait for the full release because it is APPROACHING!

If you play our demo please be sure to treat us with your valuable feedback.



After two years, we are finally in the development of the very last scene of Cats and the Other Lives! Soon we will be going through a rigorous polishing and QA process as a team until we are sure our game is optimized.

All the texts of the game are also completed and are now awaiting proofreading, after which localization batches will be sent soon to be translated into Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean!



Oh and we've also made UI improvements for large screen resolutions and lots of major and minor UX improvements along the way.

Dev Update: April

To all the Cats and Other Life Forms!

This month, our team was as hardworking as usual and we made some pretty neat improvements to our game.

We are excited to announce that approximately 90% of the core game content is completed and we are now also working on some improvements to our existing features and mechanics.

Here’s a preview of a new game mechanic we have been working on:

We are also working on a new and improved gameplay demo of Cats and the Other Lives for the upcoming Steam Fest in June. This new demo will include some new content that wasn’t included in our previous demo.

There are still lots to do until we are content that CatOL will provide you with the best experience we can offer. Let’s take a look at our roadmap:


  • More user experience and game pacing improvements
  • Completing the lighting of the remaining scenes
  • Animation refinements
  • Petting and grooming our cat overlords
  • QA testing and bug fixing

Dev Update: March

To all the Cats and Other Life Forms!

We present to you our new development update, let's take a look at what's been cooking in the kitchen this month.

New Gameplay Feature
Aspen can now look at the memories of the past through a new window while visiting the rooms of the mansion. This is a new feature that will greatly strengthen our narrative language by expanding our storytelling tools in addition to our existing flashback mechanics.



Animation Improvements
We have made some improvements to better convey the complex emotional states of the members of the Mason family to you by improving our animations and by doing so we hope to let our characters to better express their feelings through their body language and gestures.



In addition to feature improvements, we continue to work on optimization to ensure that our game offers the smoothest possible experience.

CatOL will be in Chinese, Japanese and Korean!

Great news everyone!

We are proud to announce that we will be partnering with the experienced publisher Maple Whispering Ltd. to localize and promote “Cats and the Other Lives” in the Asian territories.

This means, in addition to English and Turkish, CatOL will also be enjoyed in 4 more languages: Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean! Wěidà de!

Dev Update: February

To all the Cats and Other Life Forms!

From now on we will be sharing a development update with you each month until release.



As of now, we have finished the second chapter of CatOL and started the development of the third and final chapter.

Now let's take a look at what we have achieved so far and what lies ahead of us:


  • All the unique features of the game are complete. All that remains now, is utilizing our current tools and systems to support our remaining content in the best possible way.

  • All the essential rooms of the mansion and their related assets are complete. The lighting setups to represent different stages of the day are also 8o% complete. You can see an example of the process below:



The whole story structure is complete and 75% of the script is done and proofread.
The groundwork for the localization systems has been completed and is awaiting our translators.

The story and gameplay content of the final chapter is still in progress. Since the third chapter consists of many of our most dramatic and intense scenes, a feverish animation work continues.

Briefly, in these final months of production, all our efforts are concentrated on making the right mark in the hearts and minds of our players.

Of course, you will be the judge of this when the game comes out :)

Here are some of the new features that have been integrated into our game:

Hint System:

Developed a hint system for players who have difficulties during gameplay.



Improved Movement System:
Based on your feedback, the walking and running functions have been developed as a proximity-based movement system, so that when we click close to Aspen, it walks to the point and when we click further away, it goes there running.



There is also now a movement function to climb vertically in some sequences.



Inventory System:
Since the main character of our game is a cat, a single object inventory system has been developed so that Aspen can carry only one object at a time.
