I just wanted to let you know the current state of mods support for Celestial Breach on the Beta Testing branch:
The Game can load mods from the workshops (currently two mods samples I made for testing this)
The SDK is done and being tested/used by beta-modders.
The SDK Documentations is done and being tested/used by beta-modders.
The "Mods supported" Game is obvisouly up, but it is very unstable at the moment, regular crashes occur due to Engine's Upgrade. (This is the main focus ATM)
You can still join the mods Beta testing group if you want to test early mod support or try making mods in this early stage:
https://steamcommunity.com/groups/CelestialBreachModsGroup
The mod support functionality will not be released to everyone until we make sure it is completely stable. When this will be the case, I'll be able to work on regular updates to the Game and SDK to expand the modding possibilites (currently only maps, and partial enemies, next weapons, abilities and so on). (And also work on regular Game core updates)
I hope the wait doesn't seems too long to you, and thanks for the support! :)
Modding Support Announcement
[TLDR: Mod Support Announced, Regular updates frequency will be reduced during mod support implementation.]
Hi everyone,
Several request have been made in the past to add mod support for Celestial Breach, I've been slowly working in the background to check if it's possible technically and legally. And it is!
Long Story Short here's the key info:
What could be could be moddable on celestial Breach?
Modded maps
Modded weapons
Modded special abilities
Modded airplane classes
Modded enemies
Map modding will be added first (it's the easiest technically), and the rest will progressivly follow, if the demand is high enough..
How will Modding support be available for Modders? :
The exact workflow is yet to be officially decided. What is sure is:
The Unreal Engine will directly be used with a project "Celestial Breach Modding SDK" provided directly in the Game files or on steam Workshop. Unreal Engine can be downloaded from Epic's webstie (free).
Mods Examples will be provided in the SDK Project, along with a step by step documentation on how to export your modifications to sSteam Workshop will be avaliable as a PDF, (future player made tutorial are also welcome.)
The Engine version is yet to be decided, currently Celestial Breach is on 4.12.5 but It might be necessary (or a good thing) to update to 4.14 or 4.15 before adding mod support.
I am interested in modding, what can I do? :
If you want the earliest access to mod support and are willing to test very unstable build. Feel free to join the Celestial Breach Mods Group and contribute by testing the first "mod supported" Game builds and mod creation Tools and Documentaion.
I don't want to give exact dates as unforseen problems can always occur, but you can expect at least around 2-3 weeks of wait time before official map modding support. Regular updates frequency will be reduced during modding support implementation.
Thanks for reading, and have fun!
DevBlog 6 - 1/28/2017
Hello,
As you might have noticed, there is a missing devblog in the middle of january, I've been more focused on working on the game instead of sharing what has been made sorry.
So This "DevBlog" (or progress post) Contains everything *interesting* that has been added or modified in the game from the early access launch. (See the boring changelog for all the changes).
By the way, a lot of things were added from players suggestions, and thanks a lot for that! Some things might never have come to my mind.
And here's a small summary, if you just quickly want to know:
HUD/Controls update
New Space Strike Ability
New EMP Ability
Added Gun Sight
Added Minimap
New Enemy Type
New Objective Delta Canyon Map
Cockpit View
New Secondary Weapon “Multipurpose Missile”
Performances corrections
Thanks again to everyone for supporting Celestial Breach in this early stage of the game!
Reset your flight joystick controls + Launched Early Access!
Hello,
[This part only Applies to Flight joysticks users before January 5 2017]
First of all, after update 0.4.6 from january 5, The way the joystick/Special Inputs are saved have changed.
So if you were using Flight joysticks Before january 5, please go to
"%APPDATA%\..\local\FireStarter\Saved\SaveGames"
and Delete this file:
"specialinputsettings.sav"
Then you'll need to map you flight joystick again.
I'm really sorry to ask you to do that, but I figured this would be a quicker fix for you to delete this file than waiting a day or two for a patch, won't happen again.
[Now for the fun part of the announcment!]
The early access launch went quite well and we are actively trying to take into account your recommandations, suggestions and problems (such as direct fire keys, resolutions missing, and other things you submitted)
The priority right now is fixing the problems that you may encounter, but apart from that, new content is also on the way, like new enemies, missions and maps. (you can take a look at the twitter account for small previews)
So a big thanks to all the contributers/players from the Pre-early access testing and the recent early access launch!
The DevBlog posts are Bi-Weekly, and include all the *interesting* changes and additions to the game :)
Earlier previews?
If you want earlier previews of what is currently being worked on, consider following Celestial Breach on Twitter
Technical Changelog?
If you want a more technical changelog that include all the non-interesting changes and bugfixes, these will also be posted here, starting from the early access launch 3rd january 2016.
Pre-EarlyAccess testing period will end the 20th of december. Exactly 2 weeks prior to the launch.
I want to say a really big thank you to all the testers who contributed by submitting feedback, bug reports and feature requests on a such early devloppement stage. You really contributed to making the game more balanced, stable and fun prior to Early access.
The input from the community will of course continue to be taken as seriously as before, You will always be able and are encouraged to post feature requests, bug reports and other thoughts you may have about the game :)
The devloppement progress of this game is far from being finished, and a huge amount of new features and content is planned to be implemented during early access, as well as other "non-planned" features that players may request.
