Just what everyone and their bakers had been clamoring for!
Chester & The Bad Guy is a limited comic series setting up the completely sensical events of Chester One. Chapter 1 is available now, with a Chapter 2 to presumably follow at some point.
Just a heads up to anyone looking to purchase the game that it will be becoming permanently free in the near future, pending approval.
A larger announcement about a small Chester side project is on the way, so stay tuned. ːCupcakeRainbowː
Chester Classic: Free on Itch & Chester One: 83% off for the Lunar sale!
Chester Classic is now Free on Itch! Chester Classic will be staying at version 2.2, before any radical gameplay changes took place. If you want to go WAY back you can also grab v1.1.5, right about when the game first came to PC! I'll also be doing some old hard-drive diving soon to hopefully dig up some early alpha demos.
The Future of Chester One A new version of the game is back in development; aiming for a release by Summer 2099 pending any delays.
2.6 'Please Rescan' is now in Beta!
After sorting through and rescanning what felt like a few thousand pages the next patch is just about ready!
2.6 'Please Rescan' is the first of a group of updates that will just about completely replace all of the art in the game with higher res sharper recreations.
This update contains the recreated environmental art. Characters, baddies, and more will be coming in future updates.
These new sprites do a good job of showing off how much the last few patches have changed the rendering system of the game.

You might need to restart Steam to trigger the update.:CupcakeRed:
Chester One: a love letter to classic platforming action and 90’s animation oddness that is almost 10 years into development is receiving its largest update yet: 2.5 - Candy Coated!
Get ready to eat some all new reality-altering candies as you make your way through the game’s 40 levels unlocking new Chesters, hunting down secret secrets, and reclaiming your cupcakes!
The game now features over 10 different swappable artstyles ranging from hand drawn storybooks to classic gaming homages and abstract oddness! Each style also effects gameplay in various ways to help you out.
Candy Coated reworks this artstyle changing mechanic with all new Magical Candy powerups, includes several new artstyles, and updates to the rendering system to provide sharper visuals for higher resolution screens at 60fps!
There is also now a Free Demo available if you want to try the game out!

The next patch is chugging along and it's about to the point of needing some user testing!
This patch is all about updating the visuals and revamping some core gameplay mechanics that either weren't getting used much (style switching) or just weren't fun/exciting (charging your special.)
Here is a quick overlook on what is in this update
:CupcakeRainbow: Merged in the unused art from Chester United
:CupcakeCottonCandy: Overhauled the Style changing system. There are now candies that you can find in levels/drop from enemies that will change your style for a short period of time. Each planet has one candy that will show up the most and that you'll unlock to use whenever once you clear it.
:CupcakePink: Overhauled the Special Attack charging system. It is now charged by catching stamps launched by enemies or by your shots. Catching stamps now also doubles their value, but missing them gets them all dirty and makes them worth less. (Not quite worthless though, probably still worth around a doll hair.)
:CupcakeBlue: New rendering should provide sharper visuals on higher resolution displays.
:CupcakeGreen: New camera tracking system that should improve support for more display ratios.
:CupcakeOrange: Slight adjustments to a few levels and level order
I'm planning on doing a UI overhaul and I'm in the process of rescanning all of the original drawings to create higher resolution sprites, but I'm not sure if those two things will make it into this patch.
Patch 2.4.5 is out now and includes a few small changes and bug fixes.
:CupcakeGreen: The shop item to unlock a random 'Other' bestiary page should now function correctly.
:CupcakeRainbow: The odds of getting a new bestiary enemy page when buying them has been increased.
:CupcakeBlue: Achievements that could potentially have been skipped are checked on load.
:CupcakeBlack: Cleaned up the progress-chain achievements. Went from 236 to 96 total without really losing any achievements!
2.5 is still on the way and should be entering beta sometime over the next few weeks. :CupcakePurple:

:CupcakeRed: Minor bug fixes - These will never end!
You can adjust your resolution settings and keybindings for the new controls by running the settings program.
Enjoy! - If you encounter any bugs please report them here.
:Tombstone: Work on Patch 2.5 is already underway, which will focus on the UI and introduce a new element to using Styles!
HD Update 2.4.2 is now on the Beta branch.
The main highlight of this update is better support for HD displays (party like it’s 2006!)
Until now the game was rendered to 1280x720 and scaled, resulting in wasted space and visuals less sharp than they could be.
This update unlocks the display ratio and allows you to enter your own resolution. Due to limits with XNA the current cap per dimension is 2048 at which point it will be scaled up.
You can now zoom in and out using the shoulder buttons or +/- keys and some UI elements can be scaled up and down by clicking your thumbsticks or the F1 and F2 keys.
These bindings and the new resolution settings can be changed by running the settings program.
:CupcakeGreen: As long as no drastic bugs are found 2.4.2 will go live on the main branch this weekend.
2.5 is underway and will focus on the UI and introduce a new way to use styles! :CupcakePurple:
Thanks for giving it a go and if you encounter any bugs please report theme here.
