Building the new look
I promised you new details about our art in Chicken Nuggets, and that's what we're talking about today. You've probably seen the Chicken Nuggets pre-alpha trailer, it looked pretty average graphics-wise... that's all changing. We're at the point where we can get serious about how our game looks and we want it to look amazing!
The look we're going with is inspired by hand-painted watercolour illustrations. The colours are simple and natural, with an aesthetic that fits nicely with the agricultural environment we're creating. Our creative director Maddi compared it to the classic illustrations of E.H.Shepard in the classic Winnie the Pooh books.
What does this look like in practice? Here are some of our new concept art from Maddi:
These are hand drawn to guide how we make everything in 3D. This keeps the game looking and feeling consistent.
These comparisons have our 'pre-alpha' style assets. Done in a style that is quick to make, while still looking unique. The new models have the new style: everything is cleaner, less 'bubbly' but still simplified to match the concept art.

Where We Went, What We're Doing...
We've been out of touch these last few months. Here's why:
Hello again! It's been a while since you heard from us, It's been a crazy few months! We've been hard at work on so many new things in the game. Here is a short list of the awesome stuff we've been up to:
All kinds of brand new art: shaders, models, textures
Completely new 'architecture' for the project code
Improved gameplay cameras
Chicken Customization system!!!!! :D
Some small Minigames
New menu setup
New mechanics in the works
And finally.. the demo is on its way to launching soon!

Happy new year, We're extremely excited because this is the year of Chicken Nuggets! We are hard at work getting the game ready, we have new team members, new systems are in the works, and new chickens are being drawn up!
Once those aforementioned systems are ready we get to start level making again. The next few months will focus on level design, capturing the magic that made our predecessors like Super Monkey Ball so fun and pushing those mechanics to the next level.
