Hello everyone.

Ok, the first news is that Children of Zodiarcs is NOW AVAILABLE ON MAC! Woo! Please note that there is a known bug where the option to Disable Controller resets to its default value each time you launch the game. It's not desirable, and we're still trying to figure out how to fix the underlying problem.

The other news is that Patch 1.0.3 is now released. It contains:

BALANCING


- Late game Story Missions are now guaranteed to drop specific dice
- Reduced the difficulty of several Skirmishes and Elite Skirmishes
- Increased the number of guaranteed dice given after completing missions

TEXT


- Properly localised text (Italian, German, Spanish) in the options menu and new game menu

BUG FIX


- Completing Story Mission 5 by defeating all enemies now unlocks both "This is OUR turf" and "Children's Stories" achievements
- One of Xero's cards now has the correct key word text

PATCH NOTES: Patch 1.0.2 is now available!

Patch 1.0.2 for Children of Zodiarcs is now live for everyone.



The big focus of this patch was adjusting the game's difficulty, making fast-forward available during hero attack animations, more camera control so walls are blocking your view, added some quality of life features, and adjusting XP so Nahmi's levels doesn't out-pace other heroes.
There was also a bug where enemies were always too weak in Skirmishes which meant that they were giving way less XP then they should have.

CONTROLS


- Feature: Added the ability to fast-forward hero attack animations by holding LMB or A (X360 controller)
- Feature: Added the ability to change the pitch of the camera by holding RMB and moving mouse up/down, or R-Stick up/down (X360 controller). Zoom on controller is moved to LT and RT
- Feature: Separate options to invert camera Y-axis or X-axis can be found in the Options Menu
- Feature: Added the ability to browse a unit's cards while viewing their stats when playing with a controller
- Feature: You can scroll the World Map with the arrow keys when playing with mouse+keyboard
- Feature: You can now cycle through your heroes with TAB when playing with mouse+keyboard
- Feature: Wrap around list of cards in deck builder when playing with controller

BALANCING


- Feature: Added an option that adjusts the levels of enemies in Story Mission to your party level to alleviate grinding. Available only in Normal Mode.
- Feature: Scaling of enemy levels is now set to average between your highest and lowest hero levels
- Tweak: Adjusted the way XP is given when using multiple cards in a row. Nahmi will no longer sky rocket in levels ahead of the other team members!
- Tweak: Adjusted the difficulty of Side Missions 2, 3, and 4
- Tweak: Adjusted the difficulty of some Skirmishes that were near-impossible to beat without 1 or 2 heroes dying

SAVE SYSTEM


- Feature: Suspend is now called Mid-Battle Save and returns you to the ongoing battle instead of the Title Screen

BUGFIX


- Fixed Game Ending being sometime triggered at the end of a Skirmish of map 11
- Enemies in Skirmishes are 1 level higher so now they give proper XP. Before they were giving 50% of the XP they should have been giving.

Patch 1.0.2 is available for beta testing

Patch 1.0.2 is ready to go and available on the test branch first!

Those of you who wish to test the new update before it goes live for everyone, will be able to do so by accessing it on the dedicated testing branch. This branch is available to everyone who owns the game. You can access that via this method:

- Right click on 'Children of Zodiarcs' in your library
- Go to properties > BETAS
- Click on the 'select the beta you would like to opt into' from the drop down menu chose 'testing - Public beta test branch' and huzzah the testing branch should begin to update, ready for you to play.
**Note that if you use the test branch, you should back up your saves for safety. You can find the save files at this location on your PC:
C:\Users\[YOUR USER NAME]\AppData\LocalLow\Cardboard Utopia\Children of Zodiarcs\Saves


The purpose of this test branch is to verify that the changes we’ve made to the game don’t negatively impact any of the rest of the game experience. It would be great if you want to jump on and take a look! This branch will be taken offline shortly after the main branch is updated tomorrow (assuming everything goes according to plan with the build on the test branch). If you do help us test the patch, please let us know. If you have any feedback from the test, then please let us know in the technical support forum!

Patch 1.0.1 is now live for Children of Zodiarcs. Here are the patch notes:

Tweaks and adjustments



  • Fast forward enemy turn feature has been added. Hold the buttons down shown in the top-right corner to speed up the game during Enemy Phase.
  • Difficulty adjustments in Story Missions 4 and 5. Be aware that if you have Suspend saves in missions 4 or 5, these difficulty changes will not show up. Your manual and Auto save slots are fine so if you want these changes, start missions 4 or 5 from the beginning.
  • Tweaked XP system so it's now easier to level-up your under-leveled heroes. Now when you do 0 HP damage, you will get proper amount of XP.
  • Reduced the strength of the beige background during dialogue


Bug fixes



  • Fixed the bug where enemies in Story Mission 8 do not level scale in Hard difficulty
  • Fixed the bug where if Xero is heavily under-leveled and he gains XP from attacking /counter-attacking an enemy, he gains thousands of XP and it takes several minutes for all of it to count up. However, if he has massive amounts of XP overflow, it will still count it each time but it will slowly deplete each time he gains XP and levels up. It's not a perfect solution, but with this bug fix it'll eventually end and he'll return to normal.
  • Fixed duplicate text in the art book (Collector's Edition / Upgrade only)

1.0.1 Patch goes live soon! Includes Enemy Turn Fast-Forward and more

Hello everyone! We would like to thank each and every one of you for helping to make Children of Zodiarcs the fantastic success that the game is shaping up to be. Even during these early days, the game has remained toward the top of the New & Trending list on Steam and we'd like to thank you all for your continued support!

Your positive impact on the game doesn’t stop there. Over the few days since Children of Zodiarcs release, we’ve been keenly trawling the forums, social media and streams/youtube videos for all kinds of feedback from you, our community. A few items have come up that we’re eager to address and thanks to your feedback we're able to make the game a better experience for our players. ! Let’s take a look at a few of the items.

Enemy Turn Speed
Quite a few of you have mentioned that the duration of the combat can sometimes be a tad frustrating. To tackle this we are going to implement a feature where you can hold down a button to increase the game speed x5 during the enemy turn. This will allow you to spend more time focusing on your own tactics. Please note that in the next patch (1.0.2) we will make it so you can fast-forward more than just the enemy turn.

Difficulty Adjustments
The difficulty curve wasn’t quite where we wanted it to be. We’ve made progress through missions 4 and 5 slightly smoother.

!!! - IMPORTANT SAVE GAME INFO - PLEASE READ - !!!
In order to make these changes, some of Children of Zodiarcs game state elements will update. This will result in “Suspend” saves in missions 4 and 5 becoming corrupt. Manual (non-Suspend) and Auto saves will remain safe. In order to avoid losing progress, please ensure that your most recent game save is either an automatic or manual save, as any Suspend saves will likely be lost. Please ensure that you’ve done this before 9AM BST/1AM PDT on the 21st of July 2017.

Testing Branch
Those of you who wish to test the new update before it goes live for everyone, will be able to do so by accessing it on the dedicated testing branch. This branch is available to everyone who owns the game. You can access that via this method:

BUG FIX: No enemy scaling in Story Mission 8 Hard difficulty
Only occurs in Hard difficulty. Wrong setting. Will be fixed. Changes will not carry over to Suspend saves in mission 8 on Hard, but won't cause any corruption or problems.

(Possible) BUG FIX: Xero XP
We're still looking into this one, where Xero gains 1m XP and you have to wait for it to finish counting. This will not be in the testing branch but we're working to get it into the final patch 1.0.1 release.

Greetings, everyone!



Today marks the culmination of 3 years of hard work by our humble indie studio in Montreal: the release of Children of Zodiarcs!! This game being released into the wild for everyone to play and enjoy is seriously a dream come true for us. It’s been an extraordinary adventure, one that we’ve been so honoured and proud to have shared with all of you, from the early believers of the United Collective of Square Enixia, to the locals here at Steam-landia, the People’s Republic of Kickstartra, the ephemeral and always chatting Twittonians and their rivals in the Facebookburgs, and finally the nomads of Montreal….town. :2016popsicle:

Good news, everyone!

CoZ Beta Update (ver 0.0.7.1)

Howdy howdy people!

Last night (April 16) we updated the Beta build. You should see v0.0.7.1 in the bottom right of the title screen.


  • French, Italian, German, and Spanish language support! Please try it out and let us know if there are issues!!!!
  • Now contains all missing lines of story dialog. Hurray!

This update includes a number of fixes:


  • Black background behind the white text in the prologue
  • Removed the floating text in all the Skirmishes (please report if you see any)
  • No music in some missions when you skip the cutscene (M4, M5, etc)
  • Slint's "Dust to Dust" card's Hold ability now lasts the proper 1 full turn
  • Dice are no longer hidden behind the caster and target UI elements
  • Stalker and Zealot have their ragdolls now
  • Replaced the game's Unity logo with a proper CoZ one
  • Mission 7: the light ray turning black at certain camera angles is fixed
  • Zirchhoff's "Get. Back. Up." and "You're in My Way" and "Crashing Down" now have correct descriptions


There are several other fixes in there, but there's been a lot so it's a bit hard to remember them all.
