First day after release




Hey players,


Thank you all for being here the first day after release!

What is new?

1. AUTOSAVE - we received many complaints about saving game cost resources and to be honest I do not agree with this change since it destroys a part of the intended game experience but still we decided to add an autosave in order to improve all player experience based on the feedback.
For those of you that are more hardcore, I recommend not using the auto-save

2. BUGS FIXED - we saw the reports concerning some bugs encountered and my partner Sadoff fixed them, we shall continue to provide support so if any new bugs appear please use the bug report topic before you decide to rage-review the game lol, we read all reports.

- Police station map crash fixed
- Biobox object fixed
- some text fixes
- hotfix for some additional crashes

3. SKILLS - we noticed many of you were confused about seeing characters level up but not having access to the skill screen until it gets unlocked so we hidden level up until the moment you also unlock the skill screen.

CHromosome Evil is RELEASED





Hey Players, ladies, Commanders & survivors,


After 4 years of splitting between a day job and our passion for game development we finally managed to release our creation: A squad strategy game mixed with horror elements where all choices matter.

Its been a hard trip, for me at least it flips between passion for the art of creation and actual obsession to make a game that I would like to play
Because after many tests there is a risk of getting sick of the game, we made it in such a way that each new playthrough will have a decent amount of randomly generated content + multiple main paths but this being said we must add some warnings before you decide to buy it or not.

WARNINGS:
1.1 the game is unforgiving on tactical mistakes but can be easily mastered with a bit of intuition.
1.2 we tested the game and we also have volunteers that helpt us with the testing but because the game got so many mechanics and complex design some bugs may have escaped our tests so we ask for forgiveness and patience, post any bugs you find on the bug report topic and my partner Sadoff will fix them.

Please keep in mind that we are just 2 active people working on this project with absolutely 0 funding and we rely a lot on player support, so if you want to support us we would appreciate it a lot if you leave an honest review on the Steam store page so that steam algorithm helps us with future exposure that can finance future updates, DLC`s and the possibility of our team to keep making games.

Good news Gentlemen!

We finally have a release date for our humble creation.
Next week on 24 of March, Chromosome Evil will be available on Steam.

After 4 years of development, Chromosome Evil is finished!

We now work on the final preparations, mostly regarding Marketing & after-release planning. We estimate the game will get released somewhere around the end of March meaning that the release is less than 2 months away.

Private Beta & news

Hey players,

We have good news

This month we will work exclusively on a vertical slice beta version.







Our main goals are:

- have private tests for users who contributed to our Discord with LVL 4 and above.

- send a version to a very small amount of YouTubers

We estimate that the beta will start around the date of 20 May and will end by June 01




Meantime we also updated new the new logo for Chromosome Evil and added more screenshots, since we had the private Alpha on our Discord we remade and adjusted 90% of all older maps.

If things continue at this speed, we will finish the game this year and release it in Feb 2022.

What is left for the final game version:
- 12 more scenario maps(at the moment we have around 100 random maps, 2 tutorial maps and 2 scenario maps)
- Ballance

2021 second update - Chromosome Evil

time for some news.

Huge progress as usual. All engine is finished, mostly all artwork is finished. I will not make a list of what we did but rather a list of what is left(I hope I am not forgetting anything)


- creating 15 custom scenarios
- polish the 80 random maps
- adding multiple endings
- finishing story/text/cutscenes
- adding achievements with new game rewards
- extra polish
- final tests
- OPTIONAL in case we run out of money we may make a Kickstarter
- creating a new trailer
- creating a demo version
- uploading on steam
- final marketing stage
- prepare for release

2021 update


Happy New Year!

Hope everyone is doing good, and now for some game-related news

I know that is been a while since this game is in development but I assure you we work constantly on it, it's just that the game appears harder to make than anticipated we feel the time pressure do not worry.
So we also had some more additions to the game core based on the feedback we received from people on our discord.
Recently we added a research screen, similar to Xcom, basically before you upgrade equipment or vehicle you need to first research that technology in order to access it. Here is a fast mockup of it:


Also, many of you asked for more depth in the outside environment so we added city streets. Actual screenshot:



In addition to this, we also made major changes to the travel map, the player can visit 1 zone per day and each day got action points that can be spent on exploring buildings or doing certain actions. Also, we split the management part into 4 tabs: inventory(player can upgrade characters equipment), skilldex (player can level up characters), workshop (player can upgrade vehicle), and R&D (player can unlock more upgrade possibilities)

What happened ?

What happened?

A LOT!



I will try to make a long story short:
- We finished implementing all game mechanics, art and animations
- We finished 80% of the content and from these, we already implemented in the game around 20%
- We have all music and sound effects and implemented 50% of the sound effects and music in the game
- We finished 15% of the balance



I would say that in total we are around 80%-85% finished on the course of 3.5 years of constant work(2 updates each week, 2 from Sergey Dovganovsky-programmer and 2 from me- art & design ).

What`s next?

- FIxing and adjusting
-Late Alpha/Early Beta 0.1: test session MK I, will be private on our Discord for the old-timers that have "die-hard" role and will happen next week
- Fixing, adjusting and adding content
- Beta 0.2: test session MK II, will also be private but this time for all people who are on our Discord and will happen we hope sometime next month
OPTIONAL: this will include developer map editor and can contribute with maps on the final version along with the name in credits
- Fixing, polishing more and adding more content
- Beta 0.3: final test session MK III, this will also be private on our discord, date: TBA
- Final balance and fixes
- Game release: well we do have some bad news in the package, the game is pretty complex and we do not want to rush it too much(not at all if possible) so our release will be somewhere between November 2020 and March 2021, in other words: TBA

Side question: what should be the order of priority? loot, barricade, explore, take defensive positions?
