This new patch brings a series of improvements to graphics, gameplay, and level design! Thanks to your feedback, we have worked hard to enhance the gaming experience to make it even more engaging and enjoyable. Here’s what’s new:
GRAPHICS
Changed all parallax backgrounds to improve visual depth.
Updated all tilesets for a more detailed and cohesive look.
Added new background and foreground elements for all levels, further enriching the game environment.
New particles added for levels: Izumo Forest, Mount Dogo, Osaka, Kozuki Graveyard, Daisen Sanctuary.
Added new graphic element to visualize the switch power up state.
GAMEPLAY
Changed switch mechanics: now, when you switch characters, you enter an enhanced form for a limited time: the switch power up state. In this state:
Ayame gains an extra jump (always valid for every switch).
Kensei gains an extra defense point (damage reduction).
Both characters gain 1 extra attack point.
LEVEL DESIGN
Changed all levels to provide a smoother gameplay experience.
Removed and rearranged sections in levels: Izumo Forest, Mount Dogo, Osaka, Kozuki Graveyard, Daisen Sanctuary.
Removed some branching options in Daisen Cave.
The update is now available on all platforms! And, of course, this update is free for all.

Chronicles of 2 Heroes is one month old! We have received loads of support during this time. And some constructive criticism, too. Thankfully, most of our player base values the tough challenge we offer. But there is a significant amount of people who struggle with some bosses and platforming segments. While we consider the game fair overall, we always wanted as many players as possible to enjoy it.
Consequently, in the spirit of games like Celeste, we have updated Chronicles of 2 Heroes with a brand-new assist mode. It provides the following benefits:
Ayame becomes Kirby. The assist mode allows our kunoichi to jump endlessly while you keep pressing the jump button. She also regains five kunai every 30 seconds.
Kensei got hands. Our samurai handles attacks better since the assist mode reduces all damage by half heart. Additionally, he deals double damage to ALL enemies, including bosses.
Both heroes recover five hearts every 30 seconds while the mode is active.
If you think it is broken, do not panic. Assist mode can be toggled on and off anytime by pressing the designated button. Feel free to activate it when you need extra health, a tad of help with tight jumps or an easier time with bosses. Ultimately, this is meant for you to enjoy our game as you please.
The patch is available now on Steam and will arrive on other platforms in the following days. We will announce its availability for each console on Twitter and Discord. Feel free to share your thoughts on this patch there, too!

First thing first we want to thank all our supporters and reviewers!
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your ongoing support and for taking the time to review our game. Your feedback has been invaluable to us, and we appreciate all the support we have received thus far. For those who haven't yet left a review, we kindly request you to do so, as it holds significant importance for us.
We have carefully listened to your feedback and addressed various issues and bugs that were reported.
The following fixes have been implemented in this patch:
- Doors in Osaka level now unlock upon re visiting. - The critical bug that prevented progress in the final section of Daisen Sanctuary has now been resolved. - Map upgrades now save correctly and should be visible even in the temple after teleporting. - "Piercing strike" doesn't unlock after beating Nobumasa. - Fixed some achievements that weren't unlockable. - Other minor fixes and adjustments.
We would also like to take this opportunity to share some exciting news. In the near future, we will be releasing a significant update that introduces a brand new accessibility feature. Stay tuned for more information and updates.
