The game's recent launch on Switch meant we've had to implement proper gamepad controls. They work pretty great (I honestly prefer it to mouse), so we're bringing them to Steam version as well. :)
This patch also contains a few smaller bug fixes and performance improvements aimed at making the game more stable on older systems & hardware.
Have fun and let us know if you encounter any issues.
You can follow it for a more convenient way to get updates on our new releases, patches, and discounts or to just get in touch. :)

Update 1.2 is out!
Hey,
Update 1.2 for Cinders is finally ready and live! It's a complete port to a newer version of its engine, so while the changes are subtle, it should vastly improve the game's compatibility with current and future systems.
LIST OF CHANGES: - Most crashes and freezes on Win10 machines should now be fixed.
- Compatibility with Steam Overlay (it may cause FPS drops on low-end machines, though).
- Achievements should now unlock properly on Mac OS High Sierra.
- Fixed some anti-aliasing issues on Mac OS.
- An option to tone down visual effects for folks prone to seizures or motion sickness.
- Skipping already seen scenes is now much faster and stops only on choices.
- Corrected all reported typos and grammar errors.
- Minor edits to some scenes.
SAVE COMPATIBILITY NOTICE: I did my best to make sure your existing save files are compatible with this new version, but I can't 100% guarantee it.
When you first enter the load screen, they'll lack proper thumbnails, but should work fine and will be converted to the new format upon saving. They're not backwards compatible though, so you can't use them with older versions of the game.
Your general progress and already seen scenes won't be affected in any way.
Update 1.2 Coming
Hey,
I'm currently working on a mobile version of Cinders and having to go through the game's code is a great opportunity to update the PC version as well.
I've collected a list of outstanding issues, but if I missed anything, please let me know in the comments here or in the dedicated community thread. :)
KNOWN ISSUES TO FIX:
- Some leftover typos.
- Odd crashes or black screens on Win10 machines.
- Steam Overlay doesn't work properly.
- Achievements sometimes don't unlock on High Sierra.
- An option to disable some of the flashier effects.
- Skipping seen scenes should only stop on choices, like in Solstice.
As I'm porting the game to the newer version of the engine, it'll also run much faster. I don't suspect the game slows down for most of you, but hey -- maybe someone is playing it on a REALLY old machine.
It's a mystery thriller set in a magnificent city built in the middle of a frozen wasteland, cut out from the outside world by raging blizzard.
When the local archaeologist goes missing, an ambitious doctor on a contract and a mysterious young woman, who arrived with the last dog sled caravan, start asking questions...
