Civitas Next Fest Livestream!

Creative Director Andrew Spearin demonstrates how to play Civitas and discusses future plans for the direction of the game!

Demo Update 2

Greetings, Civvies!

We have a sizeable update for you today! The update includes a complete overhaul of the buildings to use a modular and optimized materials method. The landscape material has also been updated and optimized. And many more quality-of-life improvements!

Also, according to the feedback we have received from internal playtesters and public comments, we are in the process of designing the Civitas progression system. As mentioned before, the demo is currently limited to “Creative” mode where any building can be unlocked and placed. More “gameplay” will come in time!

The changelist for today’s update:

  • World generation menu layout adjusted to be more instructive for the player.
  • Environmental lighting angle adjusted to feel more dynamic and warm.
  • New modular buildings.
  • New Tool Tip menu in bottom right corner to provide clear instructions on how to use tools.
  • Random name generation for Boros, but the player can still do manual input.
  • Create Plots from the Boro view: players can quickly layout their plots from the overhead view.
  • Tutorial updates, including removing some pop-ups.
  • “Sprint” speed can be adjusted in the Game Settings menu.
  • Updated “Pathmaker” double-click speed.
  • Updated Credits menu.
  • Fixed bugs in Boro view.
  • Landscape shader updates
  • Still experiencing a bug where anti-tiling noise is not appearing.
  • Added console when pressing ~ button.
