Hello Clandestinity of Elsie owners! COLNELIUS here with an announcement about my Souls-like The Dark Dwellers.
I have been working on this game for nearly 16 months and finally the game is available on Steam! The Dark Dwellers is a side-scrolling action game taking place in an ancient and forgotten underground city. You will play as The Mortali, a nameless man cast into this dark pit as an abducted child, forced to grow up around death and misery. Explore the darkness, grow stronger, fight hordes of nightmarish enemies, face off against powerful bosses and unravel the supernatural mysteries of The Maddening Curse.
Hello everybody, my name is COLNELIUS and I am the developer of Clandestinity of Elsie. Thank you for playing my past creation!
I decided to take up game development once again, and have been treating it as a full-time job since last November, exactly 1 year ago. Taking what I learned previously and then greatly improving my skillset, I will soon be releasing my next project, The Dark Dwellers, which is a side-scrolling action game in the same vein as Metroidvanias/Souls-like games.
It has been five years since Albin and I completed this game and released it on Steam. We had a great launch and I appreciated all feedback I received, the good and the bad. It has become evident to me that the game, at this point, is no longer profitable and as such I will be making Clandestinity of Elsie permanently free on Steam starting tomorrow (March 31st, 2020). I am not disappointed in the slightest; it has been this way for a few years and the game will always have a place in my heart.
Five years have gone by and I am at a different spot in my life; game development is no longer something I practice and as such I will not be able to provide support or updates to the game. Early on we had some issues that we ironed out quickly, so I hope any bugs left in the game are at a minimum.
I hope all of our previous players enjoyed their experience in this short psychological-horror adventure we created. If you have friends who you think may enjoy the experience, let them know!
I hope you and your loved ones are all safe in these trying times of quarantine and illness, and I'd like for this game to give you something to kill the time, or to use as a distraction!
So long!
-Cole

Placement is a novel take on chess that transforms the classic game into a logic puzzler. The goal of the game is to place all the chess pieces on the board such that every piece is protected exactly once.

Controls
There seems to be a little confusion with the controls for some people, so I will clarify them here. I can only blame myself as the developer for the confusion, and will try to clarify controls in the next build. Full controls are below.
First Steps
When you first start the game you will need to use the arrow keys. I personally do not like the arrow keys binding. It is there as a default so that users with non-QWERTY keyboards can properly navigate to the Options menu at the main menu and change their bindings there. People with non-QWERTY keyboards would have one hell of a time trying to navigate the menus with WASD.
Once you save these settings they will be saved forever, even uninstalling the game will retain your save files/settings, so you only have to do this once, so I recommend changing your keybindings to be the first thing that you do.
