Climbey

Update 6/28/2021

Main game:

  • Fixed typo in “downloading levels” text.
  • Fixed “infinite falling” from level not loading properly- it’ll just load you into level 1 as a backup now and not interrupt further gameplay.
  • Fixed getting “downloading levels” stuck- It’ll time out after 10 seconds and fill in a blank level, which will end up loading Level 1 when it comes up.
  • Improved Upvoted levels filter- it now generates a list of your Steam Workshop upvotes once and will keep that up to date over time.

Standalone version:

  • Made custom level downloading more consistent on Vive Focus 3.
  • Implemented level up/downvoting on Vive Focus 3.

The Standalone version of Climbey is a version of Climbey that grabs custom levels off of an external server, which isn’t reliant on the Steam workshop but does co-operate with it.
This version will end up being the basis for off-platform published versions of the game.
(For now just the Vive Business App Store, potentially PSVR2 later if Sony will let me :p)

Update 6/25/2021

Main game:

  • Added support for the Vive Focus 3 badge in multiplayer when using Vive Focus 3’s PCVR streaming.
  • Added support for the Vive Focus 3 badge in multiplayer when running Climbey on Vive Focus 3 natively.
  • Fixed issue with Quest 2 users showing Quest 1 badge in multiplayer only to other users.

Update 6/21/2021

Main game:

  • Fixed minor issue with users joining mid-game not having their custom colors applied correctly.
  • Fixed "Audio spatializer" error spam in player log. (performance gain?)

Update 6/5/2021

Main game:

  • Added “Disable MP Grab” button to Input settings panel, this locally disables other players’ colliders in multiplayer- meaning you can’t grab or interact with them, but they still can with you. Added upon request due to dense 8-10 user friend groups accidentally grabbing other players too often.
  • Added “Player(s) in rooms” display underneath the server list to show how many people are in rooms in total- including private rooms.

Update 6/1/2021

Main game:

  • Fixed Quest 2 badge not showing up in multiplayer. For realsies.
  • Fixed player color issues.

Yes. It’s finally fixed. No more weird non-saving colors.

Update 5/23/2021

Maingame:

  • Fixed Quest 2 showing Quest 1 badge. (I think)

This came up because Oculus had the Quest 2 named as "Miramar" in PCVR connection mode for a long time, which was its codename, and I was still checking for that.
They finally updated this recently, outlining how little oculus cares about PCVR yet again.

Small issue, quickly fixed. :)

Update 5/21/2021

Main game:

  • Fixed not being able to see friends in the in-game friends list.
  • Fixed small issue with invalid Steam IDs in multiplayer player list.
  • Fixed issues with the platform agnostic profile popup.
  • Fixed backpack not changing color while setting your color.
  • Fixed other players not having their custom color set in multiplayer.

Update 5/19/2021

Main game:

  • Laid initial groundwork for platform agnostic friends list. The idea is that you can add people to your ingame friends list even if they’re not on the same platform as you, this means support for making friends with people playing on standalone headsets for instance.
  • Added support for Steam’s “Join game” feature without being in VR.
  • Added support for Steam's game info feature, showing what server you're playing in when you're playing online to your Steam friends.

Update 5/7/2021

Main game:

  • Redesigned shoes for foot tracking, added shoe flex based on toe ground dip amount.

Small update- figured I'd post about it anyway because it looks neat :D

Update 4/27/2021

Main game:

  • Fixed long-standing “warp town” glitch where your view would get scaled weirdly on platforms sometimes. This required a full rework of how moving platforms work for the player so things might feel different and levels might be broken. Some more testing is required, might not cover all edge-cases. Does make it so you can have 45 degree snap turns on moving platforms now instead of being restricted to 90 degree snaps, which are more disorienting.
  • Fixed sleds scaling up/down if you stood on a moving platform.
  • Fixed respawn position being slightly off if you’re playing at 0.5x scale mode or 1.5x scale mode.
  • Fixed CTF gamemode. Was a long-standing glitch that caused the announcer to spam voice messages whenever a CTF map was loaded, making it borderline unplayable.

Level Editor:

  • Added Relative snapping checkbox, useful for objects that don’t have their centers on the grid, as is often the case with grouped blocks.
  • Tweaked distance it displays blocks at when “Distance check performance” is ticked.
  • Tweaked gradual rotation to be slightly faster and more usable.
  • Fixed group loading menu not showing the thumbnails of the groups.
