The Final Devlog + The Tower RELEASE DATE

Well, this journey is coming to an end. This final devlog is about the remaining floors of the new tower map, about the completion of the game as such and about the feeling of having finished an indie game project completely.

I'm a little sad, but at the same time it feels incredibly good to finally be done! I've been working on Cloud Escape for over a year now and it's time to start a new chapter. Thank you to everyone who has been with me on the journey, it really means a lot to me!

Cloud Escape 2.0 including "The Tower" will be released on September 5, 2022.

Have fun watching!

Devlog #10: My New Turrets Will Crush You!

This was possibly the most time-consuming game mechanic I've ever developed. Today's devlog is all about the different types of turrets that Cloud Escape has to offer in its upcoming Tower Mode.

The game development work of “The Tower”, the new game mode (and map) of my indie game Cloud Escape, is coming to an end. The turrets, but especially their projectiles, were a very interesting challenge for me. Trajectory calculation, visualizing bullet trails, calculating impact points and so on. It was a lot of fun to develop the turrets and the corresponding game design. However, this task took me a lot of time!

⚠️ Announcement: I'm currently looking for more playtesters for Cloud Escape 2.0. If you have some experience in game testing, feel free to reach out to me via Discord. ⚠️

Devlog #9: I Created Enemies!

Little explosive boxes, enemies with hidden mechanics and more! This devlog is filled with enemy content and all relevant tech stuff behind it. So be prepared for this very special devlog!

The old map didn't allow for the concept of enemies due to its design. With Tower Mode, entirely new areas have emerged that allow the placement of enemies. In today's devlog, I talk about all the enemies that will exist in the tower. In fact, I think this is where most of the work has gone in.

Have fun with this very special devlog episode!

Devlog #8: The New Color Scheme

This is not Rainbow Road. But compared to before, the tower is now very colorful and vibrant!

Tower Mode is slowly taking shape and today I can show you some good progress:

A consistent color concept can bring a level to life. The tower is more colorful than ever before! And not only that. We also talk about configuring the toon shader, new animations and also new mechanics!

Have fun with this new devlog episode!

Devlog #7: Tower Mode In Development

Introducing Tower Mode, Enemies & Geometry Nodes Level Creation!

I already teased a new game mode in the last devlog. Now the time has come: Here is a first preview of the new tower mode! I also show the first enemy and dive into the world of Geometry Nodes, Blender's strong node-based procedural workflow.

Since the release of the third patch, my work on Cloud Escape is mainly focused on the new game mode, which includes a completely new map. In this devlog you can get a first impression of the new tower map and some insights into the development and modeling process. There is still a lot of work ahead of me, so there is more content to come in the future! Enjoy the new devlog!

Devlog #6: About updates and what's coming next

The show must go on!

CLOUD ESCAPE was released on Steam two months ago, but I'm still working on the game every day. In this devlog I talk about the updates I've released so far. There's also a little preview of the new game mode and map!

I received a lot of constructive feedback after the launch of CLOUD ESCAPE and collected and prioritized it. In the last three updates I have tried to make the game what it should have been at release. The reviews are mostly very positive and I'm happy about that! I've also been working on another game mode for some time now, which will be part of a completely new map. At the end of the video you can find a short preview. Enjoy the video!
