Sherlock Holmes has foiled Dr Black’s criminal machinations on so many occasions that when the Baker Street Irregulars reported that Black wanted Sherlock dead, Dr Watson took heed with deadly seriousness. Perhaps he took advantage of an opportunity to put a stop to Black’s dark deeds, and save his friend?

Sherlock theme character: Professor Moriarty!
Dr Black helped Professor Moriarty with one of his nefarious schemes. Black thought himself an equal, but he was merely a pawn in Moriarty’s great game. Perhaps Black knew too much, and was a loose end for Moriarty to tie up?

Sherlock has foiled Dr Black's nefarious plots so many times in the past that it’s no surprise that Black wanted him dead. But if one comes at the consulting detective, one had better not miss. One tiny flaw in Black’s assassination attempt would have been all that Sherlock needed to turn the situation to his advantage. Perhaps Sherlock dodged his fate and sealed Black’s?

Sherlock theme character: Irene Adler!


Irene Adler is an aristocratic woman of intrigue who leaves behind her a trail of broken hearts and empty wallets. Her latest blackmail target is a member of the royal family. Dr Black discovered the affair and threatened to reveal Adler’s true motives unless she used her royal connection for his ends. Perhaps he discovered, too late, that you should never blackmail a blackmailer?

Dr Black murdered in London!
Dr Black was a businessman and a politician, as well as a bounder and a cad. He had one foot in high society, the other in the criminal underworld, and he trod on toes in both. Dr Black had no shortage of enemies in London, so the only surprise at his murder was that it hadn’t happened sooner.
