This weekend new troops are being sent to the Eastern Front as Company of Heroes 2 is having its first ever Steam Free Weekend.
Starting today and running until Sunday January 19th all Steam members will be able to play Company of Heroes 2 for free. No conditions, no catches, it’s the full Company of Heroes 2 experience and it’s a click away for all Steam members. Players will be able to experience the full single-player campaign, the single player and co-op Theater of War experience in Operation Barbarossa and of course the CoH2 multiplayer.
Veterans of CoH2 will not only have new allies and enemies to faceoff with in multiplayer this weekend, but as an additional bonus we are unlocking all of the game’s paid DLC commanders for four days of play. So if there’s been a Commander you’ve wanted to try on the battlefield then this is your chance.
As an additional bonus multiplayer automatch games will be awarding ten times the experience all weekend. Yup, that’s right 10x XP all weekend long for any automatch game.
Have a friend who you think would love Company of Heroes 2? This is the weekend to get them playing the game. And as an added bonus the game will be 66% off on Steam, allowing everyone who loves playing it for free to keep it for a very low price.
Welcome to Company of Heroes 2, we’ll see you on the front lines.
Company of Heroes Updated
In order to keep the original Company of Heroes online we had to move from the servers that the game was launched on, to a new setup on Valve's Steamworks servers. While we were glad that we were able to keep the original game online, the move meant that we lost a number of features that we had managed to build into the game over the years.
Since the move we have been working hard alongside the team at Smoking Gun Interactive, a Vancouver based studio featuring many of the original team that worked on CoH, to restore the game's features.
Earlier this month we ran an open beta for players to test the latest version of the game. Now thanks to the beta testers' feedback we have launched the latest update to Company of Heroes.
Everyone at Relic would like to thank the fantastic fans who have helped us keep Company of Heroes alive. Your passion for the game, and your help with this latest update, have been invaluable to us.
We look forward to many more years of seeing you on the field of battle.
Two Fronts Update comes to the Company of Heroes franchise
The development team here at Relic and our publishers SEGA are pleased to announce that the next big update for our critically acclaimed strategy series Company of Heroes is going live later today.
Currently we are beta testing an update to the original Company of Heroes that includes the return of a number of key feature updates to the game’s Steam functionality, such as secure leaderboards, battle and arbitration servers.
Company of Heroes 2 is continuing the fight on the Eastern Front with this update, offering players the brand new Theatre of War pack, ‘Southern Fronts’ ($4.99/£2.99/€3.99/AUD 6.49), two free maps as well as a number of game improvements and the ability to upload community created maps in the World Builder via Steam’s Workshop.
“These brand new updates show our ongoing commitment to providing the community with regular additions of free and premium downloadable content,” said Greg Wilson, Executive Producer at Relic Entertainment. “We are also very excited that we were able to deliver the Steam Workshop maps integration for the World Builder before the end of the year as it will become a vital part of providing our community with the ability to create their own content.”
Free Content for Company of Heroes 2: - Two new multiplayer maps, ‘Hill 331’ and ‘Don River’
- Several improvements to the game, more information on our forums - Steam Workshop integration for maps created with the recently launched Company of Heroes 2 World Builder
We will be taking the Company of Heroes Beta servers offline this afternoon to deploy an update to the beta.
We do not have exact timing for when this will occur, but sometime within the next few hours the servers will be offline.
The beta changes are below:
Updates:
- Replays are now working but are not backward compatible
- Password protected matches are working
- Several crashes, exceptions and assertions fixed
- Matches start correctly
- Severely lagging players will now be auto-kicked and results appropriately recorded
- Non ranked match types are not displayed in the leaderboard
Known Issues:
- Leaderboard stats presentation is better, but not yet working as intended
- Ping times will be removed since they are not relevant with the new networking tech
Thank you again to all those who are participating in the Company of Heroes beta to help us test this new version of the game. Please keep leaving your feedback and reporting errors to us, so that we can continue to improve it.

Company of Heroes Beta
Since our move to our new Steamworks servers we have been hard at work to restore Company of Heroes to its former glory. Along with the team at Smoking Gun Interactive we've reached a point where we feel that our original game is back to where it was before we were forced to change servers.
Before we call the job done we want to let the community test it, to help us find bugs, crashes and other problems with the game before it's unleashed on the public. Thus we're holding a beta test.
The beta is open to anyone who has Company of Heroes (New Steam Version) in their Steam library. If you own the previous version of Company of Heroes you can move to the newer version by following these instructions.
How to get into the Beta?
<*>Open Steam
<*>Go to your Steam Library
<*>Right click on Company of Heroes (New Steam Version) and select "Properties"
<*>Click the "BETAS" tab in the Properties menu
<*>Use the drop down to select "Beta - "
<*>Steam will now download the beta
<*>Launch the game
<*>Feedback is best given in this forum.
While all feedback is appreciated we're mostly focused on bugs, errors and technical problems. Balance and design feedback is welcome, but these are not areas we are focusing on at this point.
Thank you all for your patience as we've been working on these improvements and for all your support in the years of CoH.

Company of Heroes PRODUCER LETTER: SEPTEMBER 2013
Welcome to the latest letter from the Producer.
Just a quick update to let everyone know what the team is working on!
Since our launch, we’ve patched the game several times - tuning game balance, fixing bugs, adding new features and of course, more maps! The new maps (Langreska and Semoskiy) both have summer and winter variants and were inspired by 2 of COH1’s original fan favorites. The team has more classic remakes underway in addition to some brand new maps that are scheduled to be released over the coming months.
We’ve also been prepping for the v1.0 release of our map editing tool, AKA World Builder, which will be free and enable our very talented modding community to start showing off their skills!
Later this month, we will be unveiling the first update to Theater of War mode, adding a new mini-pack set in 1942, that shows part of the war from a German perspective. This mini-pack will be free of charge for all Collector’s Edition, Digital Collector’s Edition and eligible pre-order customers. It will also be available to purchase on Steam for anyone who didn’t pre-order or buy a CE. Players can also opt to upgrade to the Digital Collector’s Edition and this mini-pack will be included for free.
Last but not least I’m pleased to announce we are working on an update patch for COH1 on Steam that we hope will address many issues that arose from the original port. The foundational server work being done on COH1 will also be used for future COH2 enhancements – more info to come on that in the near future!
On behalf of the team, I’d like to thank the community for their support over the recent months. We’re still in the infancy of COH2’s life cycle are committed to working with our amazing fan-base to help make COH2 the best it can be!
