What a journey this has been. I am equal parts excited and terrified for the upcoming release! As a side note, version 1.0 is available to play by default right now if you own the game. The game itself is ready and now all I have to do is get the (badly out of date) store front updated to be ready for release.

The demo of COMPOUND was starting to get very old so I have updated it to reflect the feel of the v1.0 build. (just in time for the VR Fest) It is now actually more up-to-date that the default build!
You can opt into the v1.0 open beta to get all the latest features back, of course. If you own the game, simply right click on COMPOUND -> open the "BETAS" tab and select the "v1.0 Release Candidate" build from the list to play.

v1.0 OPEN BETA AVAILABLE
Version 1.0 of COMPOUND is finally here, and the public release is imminent! But before the official launch, I'd like to invite early access owners of COMPOUND to try out v1.0 early to get feedback to make sure the launch is as smooth as possible. Due to the complexity of making modern games, recently there are too many buggy builds on launch day. I'd like to buck that trend with your help!
To access the version 1.0 candidate, right click on COMPOUND in your Steam library, click 'Properties,' and go to the 'BETAS' tab. From the drop-down list, please select 'v1.0 Release Candidate'
If you come across any major bugs or problems, please let me know over on the forums here on Steam and I'll look into it.

Hello everyone! Sorry for the radio silence; I've been working on by far the biggest update COMPOUND has ever seen. It's very close to being ready for release!
There are far too many new additions, changes, and bug fixes to list here, but some of the highlights of the upcoming update include:
A Giant Minigun!
A reward for 100% completing everything there is to do in the game. Fans of games like Resident Evil 4 and Metal Gear Solid will be familiar with this kind of over powered fun-first post-game item.
Three Story Endings
Beat the final boss to reveal one of three endings ... not shown here to avoid spoilers, of course!
Steam Achievements
These will encourage players to step out of their comfort zone and try some of the more unusual play styles or activities COMPOUND has to offer.
Interactive Visual Tutorial System and Reload Guide
A visual guide will appear to help teach new players how to reload each weapon, without needed to read walls of text. This automatically goes away once the player is used to each weapon.
Overhauled Weapon Handling System
When holding a weapon with both hands, you can now release your primary grip to reload with your dominant hand, or quickly dispatch an enemy with a side arm while still carrying your primary in your off hand. This really helps with immersion and weapon physicality.
Overhauled Rendering System
The rendering system has been completely re-written from scratch to provide a much higher perceived resolution and crisper textures at absolutely no extra cost to performance. It has an especially dramatic effect at cleaning up the blurriness when viewing surfaces at very shallow angles. Please pay no mind to the chunky aliasing of these images, they are a side effect of my screenshot tool. When viewed in the headset, all edges will have clean antialiasing.

15 trading cards, 5 badge levels, a 'foil' badge, 3 profile backgrounds, and other COMPOUND themed Steam Community Items are now available, along with a new hotfix for a handful of obscure but major bugs / exploits found in the previous builds:

Added back the save lever / save indicator to HQ that was incorrectly removed from v0.5.29
Fixed a bug that would allow players to smuggle weapons out of the gun range when using the "Old Schooler" mutator

PROGRESSION UPDATE ( v0.5.30 )
This update adds an overhauled progression system, and fancy new trophies to fill the trophy shelf with!
NEW/CHANGED:
Overhauled progression system. Introduces the game's mechanics to new players in a much more controlled way
146 Trophies to collect (many trophies have 4 'levels': unlocked, bronze, silver, and gold)
Dart gun buffed + Better damage against many tough targets like stalkers and shields - Rate of fire reduced slightly - Some bosses have partial immunity to this new damage type
Sewer rat balance changes + given new weakness (eyes) + gas tanks on its back no longer completely block incoming damage
Improved drone texture
Improved security bot texture

HQ OVERHAUL UPDATE (V0.5.29)
This update significantly improves the game for first time players, including an overhauled HQ, shooting range, and tutorial. It also adds the Collectables Shelf for an upcoming new feature... ːcoolendoː I'm working on the big final 1.0 release, but I decided it would be better to release some of the content I have available across a few updates in the meantime instead of going too long without any updates at all.

LEADERBOARD & SPEEDRUN UPDATE (V0.5.28)
This update adds a monthly challenge mode and global online leaderboards! It also introduces a lot of features to make life easier for anyone interested in speedrunning like custom map seeds and a time display. Also included is a whole host of improvements and fixes across the board.

To unlock monthly challenge mode and custom seeds, you'll need to loop the game at least once on any difficulty. Challenge mode can be attempted as many times as you like throughout the month
Leaderboards will not save your score if you are using cheats!
The helmet protects the player from exactly one hit and will provide some brief invincibility frames, but is lost when exiting the level
To activate the speedrunner time display, open the config file located at C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\COMPOUND\config_2.cfg and change "ShowSpeedrunTimer False" to "ShowSpeedrunTimer True"
