Register for the CBL: Winter War 2021 Tournament Now!

Prove your mettle on the most prominent battlefield there is when Conqueror's Blade League: Winter War 2021 Tournament begins on December 6! Become part of the action as 16 teams of 15 players duke it out for prizes, pride, and the reverent title of Conqueror’s Blade Champions.

Registration is open now until November 22, so gather your allies and prepare to fight! For the pacifists among us, you can still catch all the action on Twitch where we'll be hosting critical matches like the Finals — so don’t miss out!

Signing up via the registration form does not guarantee entry to the CBL: Winter War 2021 Tournament. Participation in the tournament must be earned during the play-in period (November 12-22). During this time, matchmaking wins from Siege and Ranked Battles by all registered teams will be tracked, and the teams with the most victories will secure entry to the tournament. Regardless of when you sign up during the registration period, your wins will be checked for the entire play-in duration.

The top four teams from the CBL: Fall Fight 2021 Tournament will receive automatic invitations to compete without needing to participate in the play-in process.

Only one team can be the victor and claim exclusive prizes, as well as the opportunity to battle on a global scale against the winners of a Tournament hosted by Booming Tech in January (more details coming soon)!

Iconic Units Spotlight: Winged Hussars

There are a few Units in Conqueror’s Blade that strike fear into the spirits of their enemies while also holding a special place in the hearts of the players who recruit them to their cause. The concept of a specific Unit being “iconic” can be for many reasons - raw power, ease of use, and tactical and strategic ability in battle.

The Winged Hussars were voted the most iconic Unit with a staggering 71% of the vote by Conqueror’s Blade moderators and community managers, and for good reason. They have been brought into battle 49,815 times by players worldwide and killed a total of 7,795,444 enemy soldiers (all-time)!

This 5-Star cavalry cavalcade comes equipped with lances and resistant traits. They use their swift attacks and long-reaching weaponry to decimate their opponents, all while not taking thermal damage. Inspired by the real-life Polish hussars, a mercenary force on horseback, the name ‘Winged’ comes from their elaborate uniforms, which featured a wooden arc embellished with feathers. Their primary tactic for battle was to charge at the enemy, overwhelming them with their heavy armour and fast and manoeuvrable horses.

In Conqueror’s Blade, the Winged Hussars benefit from many skills that make them so popular among Warlords from Longting to Ostaria and separate them from other high-level cavalry Units. Their Hussar Charge order can be upgraded to be unstoppable, meaning the soldiers will rush their enemies on speedy horseback, wielding their long-ranged lances to break lines and take down foes with ease, along with inflicting melee slashing damage.

Hungry for more cavalry action? Read up on the newest cavalry Unit to enter the battlefield in Season IX: Tyranny - the Outriders.

Server downtime - November 11

Please be aware that from 7:00 CET on November 11 (22:00 PDT 11/10), the Conqueror’s Blade servers will be inaccessible. The downtime is expected to last for 3 hours.

Community Spotlight: Tyrell

Tyrell recently celebrated her third anniversary at MY.GAMES, and now it’s time to get to know her a little better!

Tyrell operates behind the scenes, making sure all the cogs are turning to make sure you get the best Conqueror’s Blade community experience possible! We interrogated her about her day to day life and being eternally stuck in Indiana Jones.

You’ve been with MY.GAMES for a few years now, beginning as a Community Manager. Tell us about your journey here!

I started as a Community Manager at MY.GAMES in 2018! As of November, I've officially been here for three years! I began working on games such as Skyforge, Revelation Online, and Armored Warfare which Conqueror's Blade players may be familiar with. From there, I started to work entirely on Skyforge as the main Community Manager with Juriel! I remember loving that time, working during the day and waiting for Juriel to log in so I could talk about communication plans and report back on players' ideas. It was really rewarding. We worked for a good year in tandem like that!

Then MY.GAMES was looking for a Community Team Lead. I applied, went through all the steps, and here I am. I've been working almost exclusively on Conqueror's Blade since August 2020, and I'm having a great time. I'm lucky to work with such a cool team of community managers, both old and new! They make my life at work sweeter by being nice individuals with creative forces, and they inspire me on a daily basis. I want to thank everyone in the team - BluntCast, KT_Peridot, Chibs, PabloVanu, Agaria, Juriel, and to all the new ones - Malveque, Milord, and Volkie. And the Content team interviewing me at the moment!

Walk us through a day in the life of Tyrell when you’re working on Conqueror’s Blade.

Wow. A lot of things. I get up in the morning, have my coffee and go until the evening. I often forget to eat because I'm so focused on everything I do. If I had to sum it up quickly, I first check that everything is going well in the teams, that no one needs my immediate help. I look at the publication schedules and the different processes, and I check that nothing will be forgotten. This is often the moment when I arrive with a wonderful “hello <3” to Azureus and look at what can be done in terms of planning and social media posts for the community. The community managers organise what they want outside of the big periods like Halloween or the new seasons; that’s when I take over.

I look at what the community managers are telling us about the state of the community, what the players are happy about and not happy about and make sure the producers get the message.

I also spend a lot of time in meetings, preparing for big events. As I write these words, I'm already working on Season X. But I can't say anything yet! Apart from the launch of Seasons, I'm looking to improve the lives of the community managers, so when we launch a season, I'm 100% focused on making sure everyone has the information. But all of this would be impossible without Azureus, who does an amazing job behind the scenes; I’m grateful for that.

Which MY.GAMES projects do you work on?

I also work on Lost Ark, and I'm always keeping an eye on Skyforge; I can't help it. This means I have way too many internal chats.

What is your favourite thing about the Conqueror’s Blade community as a whole?

Their presence. I spend a lot of time reading the feedback from the players that the community managers send us every day. I use it as inspiration for new ideas, to see what we can do with it. I appreciate the passion that Conqueror's Blade players have for the game and their intransigence about what we offer. I read the Discord every day with my coffee, and the players' comments inspire me. This is the first time I've worked on a game that inspires so much passion from both the internal team and the players. I like that we're in sync.

Tell us about your funniest memory with the Community.

The Clash, without a doubt - we invited the MY.GAMES teams to compete against Content Creators, from Localisation to Marketing and Producers. It was our first big event created and designed by the community managers, an original idea from Kaeden that everyone worked hard on. I loved all the preparation streams, and I loved being able to play with the community managers. The players in the chat were really nice and gave me lots of advice on how to play this new class I was testing.

And, of course, that famous moment of defeat. How long did we last? Ten minutes? Something like that. But I can assure you that we put all our heart into it. I really liked the community’s memes afterwards; I remember one showing Pablo carrying the whole MY.GAMES team. For me, it was a successful mission to make the community laugh.

What was the first game you ever played, and how old were you?

The very first one? I'm French, so of course, Adibou, I must have been five. But one of the first games I really remember playing was an Indiana Jones game that I had a demo of. The CD was scratched, so I was always stuck in one particular room. I still wonder what happens next. Then Dungeon Keeper. I spent hours there, glued to the screen. I had to get my parents to buy Dungeon Keeper 2 the day it came out (in the mid-90s). I was crazy!

Finally, if you could add any one feature or element to Conqueror’s Blade, what would it be?

More horses. That’s my final word. Conqueror’s Horse is what I want.

You can get in touch with Tyrell via Discord and watch the whole team on the Conqueror’s Blade Twitch channel.

Conqueror’s Tales: The Explosive History of Explosives

As the UK celebrates Bonfire Night on November 5 and dazzling explosions fill the night skies, join us for a journey into the history of gunpowder and its less festive uses in warfare.

There are few things more devastating in battle than the use of explosive warfare. The thunderous boom of an exploding bomb or ear-shattering blast of a claymore are just a couple of the sounds you don’t want to hear when you’re in battle. Explosives can turn the tide of a skirmish in seconds, either by obliterating enemy defences or the enemies themselves…

So how did these destructive incendiary devices come to be? While accurate records on when explosives (or gunpowder) were first invented are too old to be sourced, we can certainly look to Tang Dynasty-era China (618 to 907 AD) for a clue. Not only is this the auspicious period that inspired Season VIII: Dynasty, it was also when several pioneering discoveries were made — including that of gunpowder.

A mixture of saltpeter (potassium nitrate), sulfur, and charcoal combined resulted in a fearsome flash, which Chinese monks realised could be used for making fireworks and crafting signals before it was ever even considered to be used to harm.

That wouldn’t last long however, as explosive bombs were used in many conflicts soon after, most notably the “thunder-crash bombs” of the Jin Dynasty naval battle against the Mongols in 1231. The History of Jin (a historical Chinese text) reports that the defenders of the Mongol invasion used the iron-contained bombs to fend off their attackers, and the noise of the explosion was “like thunder, audible for more than thirty miles”. The damage caused by the bombs was extensive, describing that “vegetation was scorched and blasted by the heat. When hit, even iron armour was quite pierced through."

Just as ancient warriors could repel their foes with incendiary devices, so too can your forces in Conqueror’s Blade. The Shenji Grenadiers possess the same power as their bomb-toting real-life counterparts, throwing grenades that not only displace, but damage enemies. This elite Unit is available to unlock now via Unit Challenges, and you may find them to be your last line of defence against the Tyrant.

Community Spotlight: Malveque

Become acquainted with your new Polish Community Manager: Malveque! Malveque is itching to provide support and entertainment to the Polish Conqueror’s Blade Community, and you may have already seen her streaming ferocious battles on our Twitch channel and engaging with players in our Discord.

We sat down with Malveque for a chat and discussed everything from her time as a content creator to Hetman Chodkiewicz.

What was the first game you ever played? And do you still play it?

The first game I played was Crash Bandicoot. When not everyone had access to a PlayStation, my cousin allowed me to play at his place from time to time. Of course, Crash was forgotten for many years until the remastered version! I still love Crash, and after years of not playing, it turns out that it is not as simple as I thought!

What are your hobbies outside of gaming?

I try to spend a lot of time outside. I am a gardener by passion (I have my own little garden, which I take care of every morning!). In the summer, I kayak, and I've also become interested in paddleboarding, which has become my new hobby. I am also trying to get back into swimming, but the ongoing pandemic makes it a bit difficult for me. As you can see - I spend almost all my free time near or in the water.

What is your favourite thing about Conqueror’s Blade?

Battles. I played Lineage for a long time and loved the weekend Siege Battles. In many games, I miss collective PvP, which is what I love about Conqueror’s Blade battles.

Tell us about how you got started in Community Management.

I was in PR for a long time and was also a content creator, but one day I realised that to do this part of your job well, you need to understand the community - know who they are and their expectations. It is only possible if you talk to them, so I decided to become a CM for a while. Initially, it was supposed to be only six months, but in the end, I have been doing it for several years! I have quite a lot of experience building a community in indie games, which is not an easy task. At the same time, I'm just the type of person who talks a lot - so it's probably no wonder that CM is an ideal job for me.

What made you want to join Conqueror’s Blade and its community?

I was looking for a new challenge, and online games are new and different from being a CM on the developer side. In addition, I got into Conqueror’s Blade a bit myself, so being a CM here is a combination of fun and useful.

What is your favourite thing about streaming?

I am the type of person who prefers reading to watching, so I don't watch too many streams myself. However, this is a very nice way to connect with people, and that's what it's all about.

If you could make a customised Hero Attire for Conqueror’s Blade, what would it be inspired by?

I am a fan of the Middle Ages, so I love simple period costumes. But then again, I do not attach much importance to the appearance of my Hero.

If the world of Conqueror’s Blade came to life and you were a Warlord, how well do you think you’d fare in battles?

Hahaha, bad! I'd rather hide in a castle and get ready to flee! Seriously, I love to run into the middle of the battle, which is not the best tactic for games like Conqueror’s Blade because I should be strategic. It seems that as befits a Pole, I should say that I would be like Hetman Chodkiewicz and defend Chocim, although I know it wouldn’t be as heroic. For this reason, I am glad that Conqueror’s Blade is a game and not real life.

You can get in touch with Malveque via Discord, and catch her on the Conqueror’s Blade Twitch channel along with the full team, and watch her Polish (PL) streams on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
