Distantia has been in store for 4 months now. We knew it's not the easiest game to handle, cross-genre never is. And the reviews are mirroring that, both good and bad. A full scale text-driven sci-fi adventure within a casual action mechanics for desktop and VR was a big challenge for a tiny group like us (2 working full time), but it is something we really want to play ourselves and we are excited there are many others enjoying the game! 1.0.1 update is here

Hello my sci-fi story loving friends, here's the stuff.

Visuals: New atmospheric shaders generated on the gas, ice and volcanic planetoids, for good vibes.

Visuals: Satellites orbitting planetoids with population. Satellites can be destroyed (of course) with small karma hit and a possible metal deposit.

Visuals: Some stars have new environment and lighting for better looks and clarity.

VR: Clarified UI on strategy view (the mothership view).

VR: Clarified UI on Lab crafting table.

Gameplay: Shortened and optimized the tutorials.

Gameplay: Added altitude indicator of the closest planetoid vs the numeric value, and a voice alert if flying too low.

Gameplay: Balancing for CPU vs CPU fights.

Gameplay: Material deposits now have lifetime, depending on difficulty level and karma.

Gameplay / controls: Decreased the planetoid gravity effect.

Controls: Revamped mouse + kb controls, added smoothing between the jet animation & cursor making the m+kb controls look & feel better.

Experimental: HOTAS support for Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas joysticks. Wider support according to demand.

And a lot of small bulgfixes and improvements under the hood.

1.0.1 Update well underway, here's what to expect

Hi, I'm targeting to release an update mid March, wanted to share a bit what to expect. In case you have wishes or proposals, please write those here or send us directly at support@skanerbotten.com

VR: Improved readability on some of the menus, mostly in the strategy view (the mainship screen) and the Crafting table in the Lab.

VR / Controls: I'm investigating a possibility to add some joystick support (so, HOTAS) onboard and it's looking good. A problem is that creating profiles for joysticks requires for us to actually own said sticks. So for the first batch we are aiming to bring support for Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas 4 and MS Sidewinder Precision 2.

Controls: I revamped the mouse controls, bringing in smoothing between the jet animation and cursor to make the feel more intuitive and just a tad more challenging. My personal favorite controller for Distantia is gamepad, this takes the feel much closer to it.

Gameplay: Changing the numeric distance information into an altitude indicator for better visualization of how close the planets are.

Visuals: New set of atmosphere shaders to create even more nicer and varying looks for the planets.

And gameplay balancing and bugfixing of course as well.

Constellation Distantia, an atmospheric sci-fi adventure with an epic story and entertaining game mechanics, is now available with a -33% launch discount!

Massive thanks to everyone involved in the project, it's been a long road. That said, we would like to make it even longer and keep on developing the game and the brand.
