Just a quick update that will aid in grabbing/putting away weapons without difficulty
-Added a highlight around the holster objects to make them more visible.
Explosives Update (v1.85)
Today, I have released the Explosives Update for Containment Initiative. This update includes a few fun new toys to play with and some great improvements for the game overall.
Features:
Grenade Launcher
This weapon has been a blast(no pun intended) to create. It's a single shot M79 Grenade Launcher that uses a break barrel mechanism for reloading. When zombies bunch up, you can create absolute carnage with just a single blast from it. You can damage and kill yourself and your teammate if you get to close to the blast, so be careful! The weapon is available as a sidearm, so you can dual wield this with other guns just like the Sawed-Off Shotgun. It will cost $10,000 and is available to purchase under the Equipment menu.
Here is some longer gameplay with audio:

Propane Tanks
If you can't afford the Grenade Launcher, then don't worry, you can still have plenty of fun with these new tanks. Propane tanks will now spawn in random locations in most missions. You can carry them around and shoot them to create an explosion. Being able to use them strategically with your partner is a lot of fun.
New Muzzle Flash Effects
As part of this update, the game engine was updated to Unity 2018. This caused some issues with existing particle effects and I ended up having to replace a good chunk of them. The end result looks much better than before:
Holster Adjustment
This has been a long requested feature that finally made it into this update. You can now adjust the vertical positioning of your holster in the options menu.
Full Update Notes: -Grenade launcher sidearm added -Propane tanks added as random spawns to most levels -Holster height adjustment added to options menu -Engine upgrade to Unity 2018 -Minor menu adjustments to accommodate additional sidearm -New Particle Systems(Muzzle flashes, etc.)
This update was a particularly tough one to work on due to one major personal change. As of last month, I'm now a dad. Turns out it's a lot harder to put an update out when you have to take a break from blowing up zombies to change diapers.
Next month marks five years since I started work on the game. I just want to thank everyone who has played and supported development during this time. Working on this has been an amazing opportunity and I just want to let everyone know how much I appreciate them playing it.
If you have any questions/comments regarding the update, please come join the Discord. I'm usually around and am happy to answer any questions you may have.
If you are interested in looking back at how the first Early Access release looked, here's a video of the game back in 2016:(Spoiler: It's awful and really embarrassing)

Update 1.808
-Replaced button images in menu(Replaced the solid black color with a much nicer looking image) -Simplified map selection panels -Added additional text to tutorial to inform player that they get money for each zombie killed -Font changed in a lot of places to improve readability -Fixed bug where player could get stuck in Factory -Fixed small room issue on Bridge
Containment Initiative 1.8 Released
Tonight I have pushed the 1.8 update for Containment Initiative. This update includes some major graphical overhauls on two maps(Defense: Bridge, City), a new Challenge mode, as well as a new side arm: the Sawed-Off Shotgun.
Features:
Sawed-off Shotgun
The new sidearm is the first to allow you to dual wield guns in the game. I have to say I had a blast creating it and playing around with it. Loading shells and then flicking your wrist to close the barrel feels superb. You can obtain this weapon by completing the new Challenge Mode.
Some separate gameplay with audio(ignore the multiple shotgun reload sounds, I was testing an automated reload of the existing in game shotgun):
The two Defense maps have had a major visual overhaul. They always stuck out visually as a bit of a sore spot before this update. This brings them in line with the rest of the game visually.
Challenge Mode:
Also included in the update is a new Challenge mode that includes permadeath along with making zombies faster and stronger. You can select this mode in the options menu. Zombies will be 20% faster and do 25% more damage. If you complete the Challenge Mode without dying, you are rewarded with the Sawed Off Shotgun. I'm planning on adding additional difficulty and variety in this mode in the future.
UI Updates:
Some of the UI elements were in dire need of updating in the main menu. I've included icons and pictures for nearly all of the equipment/attachments in addition to simplifying everything in order to make it easier to understand for new players.
Full Update Notes:
-Sawed Off Shotgun sidearm added as the reward for completing Challenge mode(Decided to revert the unlocking of all utility items on completion of challenge mode. This is the only reward aside from the achievement) -UI Updates(New icons for equipment, new font, some positional adjustments) -Fixed a bug where the shotgun could reload itself forever when simple reload was selected -Bridge re-made with new models and fog system -City Defense lighting revamped -Challenge Mode added: Resets all objectives upon activation, Zombies move 20% faster, do 25% more damage, Permadeath(Resets all objectives if you die or fail mission), Completing challenge mode nets you a new achievement Sawed off shotgun -Scavenge City map added to multiplayer(Disabled currently until more testing and dev work is completed -Improved reload animations for PC player ground support -PC player ground support fire rate increased by 25%
I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday at the end of what's been a pretty crazy year. Here's to hoping that 2021 will be better.
Thanks for playing,
-CiDev
Coming soon to Containment Initiative: 1.8 Update
In the coming weeks, I'll be releasing the 1.8 update for Containment Initiative. It will include a new Challenge mode, the first online co-op Scavenge map, a host of graphical upgrades, and lots of other goodies as well. If you are interested in testing any of these features, most of them are available in the dev branch and will be moved to the beta branch soon. Please feel free to drop by the Discord or leave a comment if you would like to help test the update.
Challenge Mode:
This mode will make zombies hit harder and catch up to you faster. It will also feature a permadeath mechanic. When you enter Challenge mode, all of your objectives will be reset. You will then attempt to beat the game without dying and while also having to deal with much deadlier enemies. If you can complete enough objectives to find the Virus Cure in the Bunker level, you will be awarded all the utility item upgrades at once, as well as a special Steam achievement, along with one other reward that is still in the works.
Graphical Upgrades:
With this update, the two Defense maps(Bridge, City) are receiving a massive visual upgrade. All new lighting and fog systems make them look infinitely better than their current iterations.

Scavenge - City comes to Online Co-op Mode
This is the main thing that's holding the update back currently. I built the foundations of the map over the past weekend, I just need a few more weeks to get everything working correctly and get zombies and items into the online version of the map.
More to Come..
I still plan on introducing one additional reward for players who complete the Challenge mode. This will most likely be either a new ability, weapon, skin or combination of these items. Feel free to let me know in the comments or on Discord what you would like to see.
There will also be a UI refresh included in 1.8 as well. The menus have gotten a bit overwhelming for new players and I want to give them some additional pointers and reminders when they first jump into the game.
I should have more updates in the coming few weeks on when this update will be available. Have a safe and happy holiday and as always, thank you for playing!
Pumpkin Hunt
The time for the Pumpkin Hunt is here and with it comes the return of the Sawblade:
Pumpkins will now appear in certain maps within the game. All you need to do is find and destroy 30 of them to unlock this limited edition melee weapon. This weapon is a permanent unlock even after the event ends, but is only available to unlock until November 1st.
The Sawblade has a bigger sweet spot compared to the default axe and it's damage is on par with the Katana.
There are also a few minor bug fixes in this build as well.
As always, if you have any questions or run into any issues, feel free to drop by the Discord.
Update 1.74 is now available for all players. The big focus of this update is performance and optimization. All players will see between a 10-30% FPS boost(Depending on the situation/map/co-op). Minimum and Mid spec PC's will likely see the biggest improvements. There are also some small image quality improvements since I have a lot more headroom to work with performance wise.
Changes:
Performance: -Engine upgrade to Unity 2017.4.40(Previously the game was running on a late 2016 build of Unity 5.6. This introduces about a years worth of updates, changes, and optimizations.) -Single Pass Stereo rendering enabled(This is where the big performance gains really come from. Especially noticeable in co-op.)
Post Processing/Graphical Upgrades: -Bloom added for VR Player -Bloom and Depth of Field added for PC player. -Volumetric lighting added to City Night
Before 1.74 Update(Post Processing Off):
After 1.74 Update(Post Processing On):
As always, if you have any questions or run into any issues, feel free to drop by the Discord.
Thanks for playing!

Containment Initiative 1.73 Released
This morning I've pushed the 1.73 update for all players. The main addition in this update is Steam Achievements. Now, long time players will have some additional challenges to overcome and something else to strive towards. I plan on adding more achievements over time, so if you have ideas for one that you would like to see in the game, please join the Discord or feel free to post in the Steam forums.
Features
Steam Achievements:
The game now has full support for Steam Achievements. I've included 12 of them in this update, with more to follow in subsequent updates.
Volumetric Lighting:
This update also includes volumetric lighting in various places. The most noticeable area would be the flashlight attachment. Factory has also had some lighting upgrades as well:
Grab Behavior Option:
The game was originally developed using the HTC Vive, which has a grab button that clicks. The toggle made the most sense in the past. In this update, I've included the ability to toggle this behavior so that you can hold the grab button down and let it go when you want to drop the object instead of clicking it again. This should be a huge benefit to Oculus users in particular.
In the next update I plan on upgrading the two defense levels so that they are on par visually with the rest of the game. They haven't gotten the same amount of attention the other maps have and have mostly remained unchanged since being introduced back when the game was in Early Access. There are also some additional QoL changes I plan on introducing as well, with the main one being allowing the player to adjust the holster position.
I can confirm that I am working on sequel to the game and will hopefully have more to show/talk about regarding it in the near future. I've posted a few preview videos on the Discord channel, so feel free to join and check them out.
Thanks for playing, and I hope everyone is staying healthy and safe!

Containment Initiative 1.71 Released
This is a smaller update compared to the last one, but has some great quality of life improvements.
5.56 Rifle Changes -New Scope: I've replaced the old scope that required you to line up two dots, with a proper holographic style sight. -Bolt Animation: The bolt on the 5.56 no longer animates back in forth in order to mirror a real life AR-15
Factory Revamp -All new lighting and environmental objects -Level has been made slightly smaller in order to improve the flow of scavenging crates
Color Correction -Slight saturation has been added for the VR player which makes the colors pop a bit more and everything looks slightly clearer
Additional Changes -City: Day/Night have both had lots of older models removed and replaced with higher quality versions. -Toxin grenade now kills 4x as fast. The gas stays in the air much longer too. -Medkit healing has been doubled -Time Dilation has been increased by approximately 30 percent and slow motion is 20 percent more likely to occur when it's equipped
I hope everyone is staying safe amid the Covid-19 pandemic. If you are under quarantine, and trying to keep your sanity, come join the Discord. There are plenty of us that are always up for playing some online games(VR or otherwise) and always up to chat if you need someone to talk to. Stay safe out there!
Containment Initiative 1.7 Released
Features:
New Weapon SMG5:
This new submachine gun can do some serious damage and has the fastest fire rate in the game. Unlike the previous SMG, this one can be held with two hands in order to improve accuracy. You can also lock the bolt back when reloading as shown below.
Repeatable Objectives:
I've heard lots of feedback regarding the fact that players want something to do once they complete the game. Now when completing the game, all of your objectives will be reset(Which leads to the next new features..).
New unlockable items:
Now when you complete enough objectives to unlock Bunker and then successfully complete the game, you will unlock one of four new unlockable items. They are as follows:
-Toxin Grenade: You get a new grenade on your shoulder which poisions zombies. They will slowly die once poisoned and can transmit the poison to other zombies.
-Lightweight boots: These will give you a 25% bonus to movement speed.
-Time Dilation Drug: This doubles the amount of slow motion time you get when it occurs.
-Medkit: This will allow you to heal yourself mid mission.
Toxin Grenade Preview:
Unlock Choices:
Once you have completed the game four times and unlocked all the items, your objectives will continue to reset.
Major Weapon Audio Overhaul:
I thought that some of the weapon firing and loading sounds could be improved. Each weapon now has multiple firing sounds that it can emit. It really adds a lot more realism to the game. The new audio is professionally recorded and ended up being miles better than what was currently in the game.
Preview: (Sorry for the crappy quality and bad captions..rushing to push this announcement) https://youtu.be/fj51SraWVbo
Minor Changes/Bug Fixes: -Left handed mode option -Device direction option(Choose left/right controller or headset for forward positioning when moving) -New Skyboxes in most maps. -Certain maps have had additional environmental assets added to spruce them up a bit. -Network optimization on the shotgun.
